Anyone know what's going on? I am suspecting its organ-related, (or possibly mental health related) as opposed to physical injury. Which is really shame, as he was a great white hope for the Mr O. I though he had real potential to even possibly win it if he came in sharp.
-
Not organ-related from what I've heard, more so mental health. He will be okay. Would like to see him nail his conditioning and place competitively at the O.

OK - that's good to hear (that its not organs). All OK with his marriage?
Mentally, you gotta wonder if Dallas (RIP) dying, and seeing his corpse on the floor etc had an effect. Got to have been a real tough moment in life to have experienced that :(

Agreed. And while people like Dave Palumbo consistently cite genetics, McCarver's case was simply too ridiculous to deny being caused by excessive use of performance enhancing drugs.
Question:
Do you think had McCarver stopped all PEDs after his onstage incident 4-5 months prior to his death and immediately started a medical program to reduce his blood pressure in addition to dropping body weight, would be still be with us, or was the damage already done?

I believe so, haven't heard anything to the contrary - they are expecting a baby.
Yeah, would have been very traumatic for Josh.

With a hardened kidney, heavy lungs and thyroid cancer, I believe the damage was already done sadly.

Never heard of this Josh guy, but he probably considers himself a legend in his own mind
Mental issues and roids / GH / diuretics / insulin, it's often a tricky combination :)
-
He should get out while he can.
-
I thought one had to be mentally ill in the first place to undergo such extreme drug protocols.

Yet you'll pass judgement anyway.. Josh is one of the most grounded, down to Earth competitors out there. A gentle giant.

Didn't know you were privy to his dosages, please do share...

Doesn’t he claim natural?

Oh, my bad. I didn‘t know he was the only guy on TRT in the Olympia lineup. He‘s a good guy like u said. A gentle giant. A true inspiration.

Don’t skate question you obviously know something the rest of us don’t what is he on 1 g 2 g 5 g 6 g what’s he on?

Josh gets a whooooo cares.

In an interview, he did indirectly. He was asked a question about "steroids and cheating" to which he said he's never cheated. Everyone knows he is not natural, I think he was just caught off guard. He is softly spoken and was presumably nervous.

Imagine implying that being on testosterone and being a 'good guy' or 'gentle giant' are mutually exclusive... ::) Sad little man you are.

Well he‘s on my deadpool list. I have zero respect for drug addicts.

Who?

SF tried pulling the same shit by labeling every bodybuilder as "drug addict" and got caught. Define "addict".

Any person that heavilly relies on chemical substances to achieve a certain goal that’s not health related. I see guys in their late 40s, 50s in the gym with purple faces probably from high BP caused by steroids still wanting to be big because they are mentally too weak to handle being just fit and regular size.

Ok, so you guys in your gym with purple faces and it's automatically assumed that it's from gear. Here's legit question for you. This is a bodybuilding (supposedly) website, are you on here just to make uninformed accusations and to shit on bodybuilding as a whole or do you actually have something to contribute.
Unless you're perfect with no vices, there are a million other things out there besides "steroids" that would do a hell of a lot more damage to your health.

Using more than real “trt” dosages prescribed by a doctor is an addict
Chasing big muscles, on various cycles of insulin, gh, peptides, IS an addict
You see, addicts almost ALWAYS have to justify their usage, usual signs of an addict :D

Here you go justifying your usage, in the end they are ALL bad
Weren’t you addicted to meth back in the day? Or other drugs?

I love working out and improving my physique so in a way yes i like bodybuilding to a certain level. It doesn‘t mean i can‘t make fun of it or shit on it. My schmoeing days are long over and I like how people here expose what really goes on. Drugs, lies, selling snake oil, narcissists, sociopaths, health issues, personal trainers with no education etc.
The stuff i see here really makes me glad i never went the heavy drug use route. At a certain point of life you have to ask yourself what is more important, the attention or your health.
I also come here for the drama, laughs etc. This place is really entertaining. I love getbig!

Addicts generally don’t have an off cycle....ever. We can have this conversation all day long. Let me know. Like I said, you know there’s drugs in bodybuilding as will most sports and industries. If trolls on here just to shit on the industry knowing full well what to expect then why even comment or be on here.
-
Steroid addicts off cycle is clomid, anti estrogen, HCG and inject able testosterone in quantities that isn't prescribed for hormone replacement.
-

Define "got caught".

Wasn't he a natty? Why would he face health problems at such young age? ???

Come on, Coach. You've been around the block. Although there are some genuine bodybuilding fans and contributors here, most are here to troll or talk about non-bodybuilding things, even on the G&O.
There are plenty of hardcore bodybuilding discussion forums around, maybe you should check them out. Seems better than to pander to the trolls here.

Damage was done. He had tumors and organ failure. But possible his life could have been significantly extended - operations, treatment, transplants, meds, monitoring etc.
-
Yet you'll pass judgement anyway.. Josh is one of the most grounded, down to Earth competitors out there. A gentle giant.
Didn't know you were privy to his dosages, please do share...
Agree. Very nice humble guy. I think he could make top 3 O, maybe even win it.
In terms of dosages, he is clearly on the large(ish) size, multi combo (test, GH, orals/injectable androgenic anabolics etc), and for long periods of time. However, the bigger risk in what he was taking in my view is actually how "clean" the products were. Im suspecting not all was pharma-grade - there's some underground stuff, and that's where the biggers risk's lie (likely also contributed to Dallas's tumours).
-

Not addict. Can be a logical and controlled and conscious decision with a view to achieving a particular outcome.

Thanks for the answers. I guess Dallas juiced wildly, even by pro bodybuilder standards.

BB drugs (when abused) can, and do kill (Dallas, Piana, Munzer, Mattarazo, many more), much more than weed ever did or will.
Test/TRT IMO is OK for healthy/aging males, when done properly at real TRT doses, and quarterly bloods.
All the other drugs (EQ, Deca, Orals, Insulin) is asking for trouble. I'm not talking one "mini-blast" a year (12-16 weeks) of a CC of each (probably safe), but it also wont buy you much either.
(Except for a rise in LDL and blood pressure).
These fruitcakes slam so much poison, for zero money, and risk their health. Test can be a fountain of youth, but its very powerful at even 100 mg a week.
Respect the Test... Dont know this Josh character, but those who slam loads of gear 24x7, end up with issues, mental, physical, etc.

Who?

Yes, pinning yourself multiple times a day, everyday, cycling with multiple compounds, is not normal

LOL!!!

This right here. I get fantastic numbers and results from 100mg's per week of pharm cyp. That stuff catches up to you eventually.

body doesn't care about age if you abuse your body..
Mcgarvers heart imploded at 26

Did Josh ever learn CPR after the Dallas incident?

Like test, Deca taken at moderate dosages can be long term safe and beneficial I believe.

definitely. I'd be fucked up for life in that situation. That's gauranteed to provoke some kind of existential crisis; you're witnessing somebody you were close with dying in the pursuit of the thing you've given based your life and career around. Things can't be the same after that, his entire sense of identity probably rapidly changes. I am sure he's been suffering since then and I wish him the best.

Tonight I had a great friend tell me some banana head has made up a “fact” that my kidneys are out. They are great, my liver is great, my blood work all over is great, my mental health is great, my heart is great. If this could help people in bodybuilding I would say so as it lives in alignment with who I am. This is genetic, it doesn’t matter if you are a long distance runner or a professional sports star or sit in an office all day and you don’t get to choose when it happens, my middle brother had it (who doesn’t train) and it’s incredibly rare but I’m doing great and I’m recovering so that’s awesome but I don’t appreciate fools trying to sell a story out of nothingness which puts pressure on family and close friends who have had to deal with this by my side. When I am recovered and have all of my results I will share it even though I don’t need to but it’s just the person I am and I do know that it’s a very interesting story no matter who you are. Huge thank you for all the kind messages and support people have given me and massive thanks to my sponsors for sticking by me and most of all my family and closest friends. My best bodybuilding days are ahead of me (I hope in the next 7.5 weeks but hard to say at this point) with so many things online in bodybuilding be mindful that the majority of the things you hear are not true unless you hear it from the persons mouth. In the case of the above I have never spoken to this person (who says he has) in my life and would love to step in the ring with him.
For those interested in health please get your blood work done every 3 months for prevention- liver function test, kidney function test, full blood examination, esr, fasting glucose, lipids profile. Once every year or two have a ct angiogram and echocardiogram for your heart that will test for narrowing and occlusions, other tests you may want to have are things like a gastroscopy and/or colonoscopy depending on your family history. The more tests you have the better for prevention but please know that no one is invincible and somethings (like what I went through) there are no warning signs or tests you can do as it’s genetic and you can’t change them"

Bevo, remember, Josh is natural. He said so. Stop bullying him.
“But, he vehemently denies claims he has ever used performance-enhancing drugs and says his transformation is all natural. ‘I’ve never ever cheated in my life…It’s almost a form of bullying in a way,’ he said. ‘If people said that about Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods … it is disrespectful in a way because it disregards all the hard work.”

Attractive people can't slam gear. Josh looked like a pretty white boy and hardcore gear really fucks attractive people. Like Flex Wheeler. Many chicks dug him even in competitive day with pretty face and soft voice. Nature decided that's too much pussy. It's like nature's way of having balance in the world. God gives you attractive features, you don't get to be superhumanly jacked or you'll suffer. Look at female bodybuilders and what happens to their faces. Just too attractive to be hardcore. Same reason really attractive people are rarely super funny. Some pretty boy that is hilariously funny? Rare. Just too much pussy so God gives fat guys great senses of humor to balance shit out. If attractive, stick with trt and men's physique look and just accept the lack of respect for you in the industry. The pussy will make up for it. Same with fighting and MMA. Attractive people(with a few exceptions) can't fight. Always some pretty boy that ends up getting his ass kicked when he tries to live the life of a badass. This is all natures balance. Calum von Moger is going through it, muscle's ripping from the bone and going bald. Just too attractive to be 240 lbs ripped. Nature won't allow it. Look at the tragedy of Corey Haim and Corey Feldman. Haim, the attractive one was broken by the hardcore drugs while Feldman is still fucking singing/screeching away and slammed meth and went harder than Haim. But you can't use that many drugs if you're attractive, nature simply says that's not fair. Look at Van Damme. Go to the Heather Locklear thread.
Attractive people cannot live a badass lifestyle. Karmically unbalanced.

This is one of the most thought provoking ideas I've ever read.
In this one post you've accomplished the foundation for common sense intelligence that Marty Champions has spent the last decade trying to cultivate.

Solid theorificationing there by Notomorrow... made me think....
First to spring to mind was Dennis Newman - a guy so handsome nature gave him leukaemia to teach him a lesson...

Why would Eq, Deca, all injectible steroids asking for trouble but not Testosterone? Decades ago Dr. Walczak explained to me that ALL anabolic steroids are derivatives of testosterone. The reason was to remove as much of the androgenic properties, which causes the undesirable side effects, while preserving or enhancing the anabolic properties. In that sense, anabolic steroids are actually safer than Testosterone.
As with everything in life, the problems come from abuse whether it's the "safer" anabolics or even something like probably the most abused substance in our society and causes the majority of the health problems, that being food.

Reminds me of Adam Corallas theory about super good looking dudes not being able to pack a hog. It was Jesus leveling the playing field. Obviously every getbigger is the exception to this rule.

What a golden post. Thanks for this deep reflections on existence.

As expected, Josh's health concerns were NOT related to his kidneys being sauced out. Had a lump on his head, turned out to be a tumor before entering a coma post-surgery. I heard about the bit on his head, didn't think much of it - no idea he ended up in a coma was kept under wraps. INB4 all of the "GH caused this" commentary - his brother doesn't lift and had the same benine tumor when he was a teenager. So pleased to hear that he is better now - onward and upward Josh!

Hmmm.... a healthy young man staying in coma following surgery - usually happens for a reason...
"Delayed recovery from anesthesia or coma after anesthesia is a major anesthetic complication. The causes for delayed recovery from anesthesia are many. They are patient, surgical, anesthetic, and pharmacological factors. The pharmacological factors include the use of various anesthetic and adjuvant drugs, and their interactions with other drugs, known or unknown. This depends upon the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, context sensitive half-lives, amount of drug administered, accidental administration, co-administration with other drugs etc. The patient factors such as the extremes of age, obesity, and various co-morbidities like the cardiovascular, renal, liver or other major organ dysfunction can potentiate the effects of the drug used. Some of the rare causes are myxoedema coma, drug toxicity and Addison's disease. However the delayed recovery due to anesthetic causes, excluding hypoxia, usually lasts for a few hours to days."

Probably because he was so healthy, right..?

He said EVERYTHING was good ..kidneys heart ect

I think McCarver was an addict and probably did not stop the drugs, maybe just reduced them, but like others have said the damage was done at that point his days were numbered by then.

Completely and utterly missed the point, the original issue (tumor) was genetic and not related to AAS usage. Were following complications exacerbated by AAS usage? Possible, even likely - sure, but the original issue of the tumor has no link to AAS. Had he not been genetically predisposed to the tumor growth, the coma wouldn't have happened.

Yes.
The cause of death was "severe concentric left ventricular hypertrophy with coronary artery disease (severe in the LAD)". Losing a great deal of weight will lead to left ventricular hypertrophic regression or shrinking of the left ventricle and heart. The electrocardiograph he had met minimal voltage criteria for LVH. That finding will typically lead to an echocardiogram to further explore that issue and confirm LVH.
He still had a widow maker brewing in the LAD but with LVH good Dr's also take a look at the arteries. Also you're at high risk for arrhythmia's and thrombus formation with LVH so blood thinners are prescribed and those reduce the chances for a catastrophic blockage.

Hold on a second. Where did I claim his totally natural tumor was AAS related? My post was singularly focused on the totally unusual reaction of a young man failing to come out of the artificially induced coma (which is what general anesthesia is)...

McCarver did not have a chance. Josh did not know CPR and other measures that could have saved Dallas. For all practical purposes Josh just watched Dallas die and did nothing.

You didn't, but you replied to my post about a genetically predisposed tumor with a PubMed abstract for anesthesia complications. Just reiterating and pointing out that the actual initial issue was through no fault of his own (and anesthesia complications wouldn't have otherwise occurred).
