Title: Dear getbig brothers, do you think I have potential to compete?
Post by: muscle matters on April 08, 2020, 07:41:24 PM
Dear getbig brothers, hope everyone stay home and safe.

Since we are at this critical moment, I have more time in my hand, I'm thinking about  to start my diet and prepare for a show.

Here are some recent pics of myself, what do you getbig coaches, gurus, competitors and bodybuilding veterans think of my physique? do you think I have potential to compete? I'm more towards to do classic physique.

Wish everyone healthy and safe.

Thank you all!

It’s been about 18 years since I competed - but I doubt it’s changed THAT much. You have a decent base if you lose 30 lbs or so you could probably do ok. But I gotta be honest man - I think having a chicks head is gonna be a distraction. I could be wrong - I had some wins and I ain’t beautiful, but I do think of Id had a chick face I might have dropped a few places.

Can you put on some lighter spandex, can’t see the bulge well enough to see if your stage ready. Have your training partner hit them with a spray bottle a couple times to make it “pop”

If it’s really you I don’t see why not but now isn’t the time to start planned for a show unless all of your ducks are in a row. All NPC shows in the country are cancelled until AT LEAST May 10. I’ve pulled out of my prep for the Nationals and that’s in July. If you can’t train right then there’s no point.

thanks for your words, coach.

I know all the shows are cancelled, that's why I want to start my diet, that way, I can just do it slowly and gradually towards to contest-ready.

And here is the pic of my garage gym. That's all I have for now, at least better than nothing.

I have never been on diet, actually never considered to compete, but since I got more time now, and who knows when our life will be back to normal, Im thinking to give a shot.

I don’t know about the entire year. My next move is the Masters USA in December. This has to be over by then.

It better be or we will all be dead  ;D...  it may not be the same now - but there used to only be nationals / jr nats / USA  late in the year. I may be remembering wrong - just thought all of the smaller state / degional shows were earlier in the year.

Ask yourself "Am I a warrior?"
If you can answer "Yes." And I mean scream at the top of your lungs "YESSSSSSSSSS!!"

Then you can make it in the warzone that is bodybuilding

Coach, everyone else is effected in their training as well.  Someone is going to win the Nationals in July and it could very well be you.  How many others have given up on the Nationals as well?  Some guy half as built as you may take home the trophy.

But will the victory ring hollow because of the corona?

Will there be an asterisk after Coach's name in the record book?

I don't know why it would.  It everybody else quits and you don't why should it feel hollow?  Do Super Bowl champs who won the title during a strike shortened season feel any differently?

Every time Coach looks at that plastic trophy he'll have doubts.

Yes but in a physique category. Not a bodybuilding one. Once you lean out you'll see you don't have as much muscle as you think. It happens to everyone the first time they lean out drastically. I was much smaller than expected.

Going on a pre-contest, strict weight loss diet, with intense cardio, etc. can potentially weaken you immune system.  Is this really what you want right now?

The exception is for someone doing a keto or carnivore diet, where you eat when you are hungry and you eat until you are full.  But that isn't necessarily a pre-contest diet.

Back in the day when contest dieting consisted of 4-6weeks of prep no matter what shape you were in that would be true, but nowadays with most taking 12-16 weeks to prep plus eating 6-8x perday that's a hard argument to make.

Op you are fatter than I am realistically you would drop about 30-35lbs OF FAT to compete. Another 10-12lbs to dry out. I highly highly doubt you can handle that mentally. Youd be dieting 16weeks.

Personally do what im doing run a cut until you get to 10% and re-evaluate. Youre not at the should you or shouldnt you stage yet.

Or crash and burn its your time body and fate.

Anybody can compete. Whether they can be competitive is another question that is hard to answer when you ask people to evaluate your physique without actually showing your physique. That tells me you probably have a flabby gut. The arms always hold out the longest when you get fat but the chest and back fade fast and the legs smooth out quickly.

If you want an honest assessment then be honest with us.

It's amazing to me to how people don't realize what a weak argument this is.....

I read on another forum how Dex is an idiot being 50 years old and still competing in bbing for "just a plastic trophy." From just his last two shows Dex has won $120,000. This doesn't count the contracts and appearance which has made him a millionaire.

Not bad doing something that thousands upon thousands of people do for free: train six days/wk, juice, follow a strict diet.

This also doesn't take into account that being successful in doing something you love, committing yourself with discipline and drive, is very fulfilling in life. When people just looked at the monetary value of a trophy or medal and not what it represents just shows how shallow and vapid they truly are and probably have no experience in sports or just was never successful at it.

Guy in the pics probably competed already. Idea is probably to get a bunch of negative evaluations and then post contest pics. That's my guess  :D

Wow, you missed the point completely. Is it really that obtuse? The main point was that it is not all about "just the plastic trophy". Dexter was just one example. He would be lifting weights and juicing anyway like so many other people. Except he gets paid for it.  People from all walks of life do things, commit to achievements, and are glad when they get recognized for it with medals and trophies. When my brother was promoted to Colonel it was such a proud day for all of us in his family, his friends, and the people that he worked with. You think anybody gave a second thought to how much his medal and stripe were worth monetarily. Just like how proud I would be every time I was promoted with a new color belt when I trained in Jiu-Jitsu. I never thought all those years of training were for what that belt cost. It was for what it represented. Haven't you won or achieve anything in life that you were recognized for? Did you do it for the money?

Reread my last paragraph. It's not the medal or trophy in and of itself, it's what it represents. Just hard to believe that I have to explain this to anybody.

Good point.

An Olympic Gold Medal, is just six grams of real gold. Definitely not worth being a champion. You can look back on your life and brag to your grandchildren that you could have won an Olympic Gold but didn't want to because the cost of the medal wasn't worth it.

That's one not for the record books.

There are more important things than money I agree. It's like saying a Force Recon, Seal or a Ranger isn't paid much so it's not an accomplishment.

Regarding does he have the potential to compete, damn right he does.  Everything is there. He just has to up the dose to do it.  If he wants to risk health to compete more power to him.

You appear to have more than enough muscle to compete, but it all depends on the level to which you aspire.  With your arms alone, if you got truly ripped, you should destroy on the local level.  Beyond that?  My inner Lonnie Teper would whine that you should "strip" (or was it "peel"?  I have a hard time keeping my Schmoeisms right) and show your whole physique.

However, that sounds gay, so I suggest you just diet down and do a local contest.  See how you do and take it from there ;)

I meant, and should have said, "Are you being obtuse?" Often people here, like joswift, like to play dumb just to start an argument. Of course, they just may actually be dumb.

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/obtuse

obtuse adjective

formal
stupid and slow to understand, or unwilling to try to understand.

Example: The answer's obvious - or are you being deliberately obtuse?

I meant, and should have said, "Are you being obtuse?" Often people here, like joswift, like to play dumb just to start an argument. Of course, they just may actually be dumb.

https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/obtuse

obtuse adjective

formal
stupid and slow to understand, or unwilling to try to understand.

Example: The answer's obvious - or are you being deliberately obtuse?

.

I know, I was just giving you a hard time.

Cabin fever bro.

1. Can’t see your legs, are you men’s bikini?
2. more upper pec development
3. Good arms, okay Delts could use more pop
4. Back?  Does it exist?

A lot unanswered questions here.  Verdict for now = no;

Not surprising.  If I could figure out how to post pictures I would demolish this kid even in my early 20s before any muscle maturity hit lol

Just click on "Additional Options" and then "Choose files" then it will take you to your files where your saved pictures are. They just have to jpg and not too large. Every pic I take on my phone I have to resize to be able to post it here because they are too large.

Why we don't have bidets here in this country is something I don't understand. I can't believe people actually think TP alone does the job. I always have those flushable wipes at the ready and I always carry a pack with me.

No skidmarks for me -- ever!

I went South Carolina for vacation, couldn't resist the good light and the good mirror to take some pics of my arm.
