you buying them funk?
no, I'm not especially fond of them. I've got Saxon's, and a bunch of other old plates. I've been buying and selling for years.
-
Craziness, these might hold the record for highest price paid for a pair of plates. The bids are coming in from a variety of bidders, so I don't think there is any shilling going on.

just showing because the bid is up over 6500 dollars for 100 lbs of weight. I thought it might be of interest on a bodybuilding site, maybe I'm wrong. :'( :'( :'( :'(
-
Stern's gym in San Diego has a lot of old/odd plates. I don't think they had any Zuvers though.

I had a pair of the 90 pound York DB's when i was a teenage and first stated lifting. My uncle gave them to me.
Wish i kept them.
They were heavy as hell, felt heavier than 90 pounds.

Funk how can you tell whats collectible or valuable vs not? Anything old is good? I have unintentionally begun collecting weights. Seems a reasonable investment plus i am using the equipment I am buying. Are there guidelines on how to do this properly?
-
Would you buy these for example? Check out this 45LB Olympic weights for $200 on OfferUp https://offerup.com/item/detail/975363598/

:D barbell plates are worth what someone is willing to pay for them witness the zuvers price not that old but they were a limited run. of course the older the plate the better. here's a list of barbell companies and the years they were active.

$8000 on the nose.

Chump change for Getbiggers who use them to stabilize their basketball backboard.

zuver plates as seen in first wsm contest.
They've said over the years that WSM and Franco Columbo helped end Zuver's interest in the fitness business. Franco blows out his leg doing the refrigerator walk, he in turn sues WSM, CBS, and Zuver (for helping supply the equipment). It drags on for a few years, but Columbu winds up with somewhere between $1 - 1.5 million (I've heard a few different numbers, but they were all in this range).
Zuver breaks out, CBS sells WSM soon afterward, and the new owners decide to move the whole thing overseas, partly because they feel safer from lawsuits there.
