If they concentrate on healthcare and education reform, and the economy doesn't dip, they are fine.

For higher-profile remarks, [Biden would] obsessively rehearse portions until he committed them to memory. And at times through the various iterations of outlining remarks, Biden could grow downright ornery.
“I would never say this,” Biden once snapped at an aide, aghast over the prepared remarks he was reviewing, according to a person in the room during a speech prep session last year. “Where did you get this from?’”
The aide explained that Biden had just said it in a public speech a couple of weeks earlier.
Ouch.
There are many troubling things about this story. Biden forgetting part of a stump speech is bad enough, but this is an incident that took place last year, but has only come out now. Biden’s handlers kept it under wraps until now. How many other examples of Biden’s cognitive decline from the 2020 campaign have been covered up? If it was leaked to the media earlier, they didn’t report on it then. The obvious question is “why not?”
Obviously, Politico got the memo. The election is over. Trump is out of office. Biden’s cognitive decline is no longer taboo. It can be discussed ad nauseam by the media now because getting Biden into office wasn’t the primary objective of getting him elected.
Biden’s sole purpose was to play the role of an “electable” candidate who could appeal to independents and anti-Trump Republicans under the ruse of being a centrist just to get Trump out of office. People don’t seem to understand exactly how Biden won. He got more mail in votes in a few targeted democratic inner cities. How did he get them? They sent out ballots to everybody months in advance and then had people go and collect them. The mail in scam set the stage for massive ballot harvesting. That’s why they didn’t need any type of get out the vote ground game or a candidate who actually campaigned. All they had to do was retrieve the ballots.

If we had taken this seriously we would have had a lockdown in the spring, followed by a relaxed summer and fall, followed by a stronger lockdown in the winter followed by a well runned distribution of a vaccine. It was never a secret that I have HIV. Since 1986! I also have prostate cancer, first diagnosed in 2011, but the type that you just monitor. Gleason-3. And a heart attack 6 years ago, almost certainly due to the early HIV meds.
I've been quarantining since March 12, 2020. Never expected it to last this long. I figured the worst of it would be behind us by May or June. But due to it becoming a political issue, it just kept getting worse and worse. So I have stayed in my house. Going to TJs every other week for groceries. Hiking the hills in the evening. Exercising in my bedroom.
But I also quarantine to protect others. I could have such a minor case that I never know that I have it, yet infect someone who could die from it. Can't wait for the vaccine.
Yet, even with a vaccine, I'll continue to wear a mask and social distance. If I were to be exposed to the virus, a vaccine would allow my body to quickly fight it off. But quickly is not instantaneous. In the day or two that it would take my body to fight off an infection I may or may not be contagious to others. I've been quarantining since March 12, 2020. Never expected it to last this long. I figured the worst of it would be behind us by May or June. From my nephrologist last week. PIC (Pneumonia, Influenza, Chinavirus) if you have Pneumonia or the Flu it’s automatically put into the Chinavirus category. This time of the year ER’s are usually at capacity because it’s flu season (in short) so yeah, the numbers and deaths are complete bullshit and VERY few are actually “Covid”

Coal and coal jobs may suck, but I'm not sold on renewable energy. Also, there are tons of big interests who want oil and other filthy energy sources to continue.

Biden has a monumental task ahead of him. For starters, there's controlling and eradicating the pandemic. Biden and Congress must get businesses, small and large up an running again ASAP so people can go back to work. Unfortunately, in the meantime there needs to be another stimulus check, one that actually amounts to something helpful to those who most need it. Young people need to go back to school where they have a better chance of getting back to a full well rounded education. This would allow parents who are home schooling and either not working in order to do that or trying to work and home school at the same time.
Nothing changes smoothly without cooperation between Republicans and Democrats in both the House and the Senate. Government must be on the same page as the public. In other words we need common goals for success.
Too bad the Democrats completely ignored that advice, and began talking impeachment day ONE.
As for common goals, it's a tough ask for Republicans to want to reach across the aisle, after the Democrats basically did the complete opposite the last 4 years.
But I will be interested to see how Biden plans to help the economy, while also increasing taxes and regulation.

For perspective, nurses pay maxes out in Canada at $44 an hour [or did, a few years ago]. Nurse practitioners get paid a bit more.

I think you missed my point which was that wages are already higher than $7.25 and hour in all but 12 states. However, in order to run most small businesses requires at least a minimum of staff. Small businesses compete with large business for entry level employees. Nationally, Starbucks pays their barista's between $12 and $13 and hour as a starting wage. Nationally McDonald's cashiers on average make $16. an hour. However, the range is between $7. and 31. and hour.
When has the minimum wage ever been a living wage? And for what region? Also please show me stats where McDonald’s is paying a cashier $31 an hour, lol. What would a UPS driver in that area make $70 an hour?

My first real job in 1962 was working in display for a major upscale department store in Beverly Hills, CA. It was a full time job. I was paid $1.50 an hour, $260 a month less income tax. The minimum wage was slightly less than that. Back then, I didn't think about benefits such as healthcare insurance which probably explains why I don't remember if the job included benefits.
Interestingly enough, I was able to get by on that tiny salary. I rented a one bedroom courtyard cottage on Larabee st. in West Hollywood, a block down from Sunset Strip for $75. a month which probably included utilities. The place was not furnished. My parents helped me furnish it with second hand furniture including my bed from my old room. The living room couch was also a single bed, which is what my flaky, sometimes roommate slept on.
The 55 Chevy Nova my parents bought me wasn't running at the time, but gas was $0.25. A pound of hamburger was about $0.45. I could buy a beer at a bar for $0.25, (although the legal age was 21, I was able to get served at 18 and not asked for ID). I even had enough money to go see performances at the Troubadour by singers such as Oscar Brown Jr.
I was probably dead broke most of the time. But, what great times those were. Incidentally, I met my future wife while working at that department store. We married when I was 20 years old and she was an old lady of 21. ;D

Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer has so far been unsuccessful at ending the filibuster, mainly because two conservative senate democrats stated they would vote against a motion to do that. This could mean a lot of actions on Biden's agenda will stall in the senate. Supposedly there been some trade offs agreed upon between Schumer and McConnell. One of those is that Democrats will take control committees and have a better chance of advancing Biden's agenda.
The big issues right now are the pandemic and economic recovery. To help get the economy going Biden wants approval to send out another stimulus check for the balance of $1,400 to bring the total up to $2,000 as was promised. Last I read, that's not been reached.
