Goodmorrow,
I always like to know what the average low IQ "Joe" thinks.
So on that note:
Grown men that play video games...Yes or No? AND...if you say "yes" or come back with some snarky, malcontent answer, did it strike a nerve for the closet game players?
As always...
STAY POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i’m 39 - i have no kids no wife and i’m a govt contractor
i play call of duty multiplayer like a beast - vanguard
there is a social aspect i think to it - i really likes being in vegas but being back in NC - people you don’t know are more assholes and they tend to act more hardass prob beicause no one takes time to learn how to fight/box here - but there are these forces interactions in gym specially when i’m training fully pumped veins out - fck all do i want to talk to anyone let alone the fckn gym bro who was staring me down in the parking lot but as soon as i take my sweatshirt off you want to start slamming weights in front of me like it’s something to admire ?
video games i don’t get that shit - i can play, win some lose some, have fun, meet some people, not be fxkn forced to interact with some gym idiot

Like the adult man who reads comic books, a grown man who has time to play video games is not really a man at all.

I could never do it but know a few who do. Was never really into video games anyways always felt like the world was passing me by even as a little kid.
-
Yes. Good video games are the "total art" that Wagner once spoke of.
They combine music, aesthetics, drama (particularly with voice actors and motion-capped actors,) and participant agency.
VR will eventually take things to the next level.
Like any other form of art, they can be done well or poorly. Some video games are true "total art." Others are total trash.

how very condescending of you. ::) ::) ::) ::)

its a social hobby I have - I usually only play Multiplayer
I don't "hang out" with men my age - most are sour, miserable, or complain about shit too much - plus most of the shit they admire is just shit you can buy like a pussyass loud motorcycle, shit for their house, shit for their TV/sittin on their ass room
I play video games when I have down time and I want to relax - I read but tend to do that more at night and to wind down - I don't go to bars, don't drink, don't try to meet strangers socially in strange setting - used to bounce , don't like drunks, don't like badasses
its just funny how many of the badasses automatically write off video games - sure nerds participate but sure do females - pro games make a lot more money than anyone ever did fixing a motorcycle up with loud exhaust so everyone will look at them - I don't need anyone to acknowledge or look at me playing vid games
-
Have occasionally played them but I get bored.
Also, I don't want to invest the time learning how to play.
I'm not into board games either. Board games seem to be the rage.
-
Yes.
Videogames went mainstream when the PlayStation was released, targeting those now older gamers who grew up with the NES or Sega consoles and changing the marketing campaign towards an older audience.
Till the mid 90's, even computer gaming was still a very niche hobby. Then dedicated graphics cards were released in the late 90's for PC's in response to the growing popularity of gaming consoles.
-
I have found that more and more men are playing video games. I've even seen some marriages fall apart because of it. Pro's and con's? Stress relief or addiction?

Calm down spike,no one is judging your choice to play. Hahaha. I also suck at them prob another reason I don’t play. Wish I liked them cause it seems lots of grown men enjoy them.

You don`t warrant a reply from anyone you fat loser but I decided to anyway just to appease our resident Fat, French,Friendless,Fag.

No. I haven't enjoyed them since I was in my 20s. As a teenager and in my early 20s I could have played marathon weekend long sessions of video games with friends. It isn't as fun anymore. They bore me now.
-
I was hardcore on video games from age 10 to 16. I had the dreambox, ps1, ps2 and xbox 360 and that's the last one I bought and I played for like 6months then I lost taste.
Sometimes I visit my younger cousins and it's fun for a while, especially when I play against them and we keep breaking balls. I think it's ok if adult decide to keep playing video games. I don't see the problem. Yeah they may grow a bit retarded and immature but eh

Same on the multi....have played almost every CoD multi since MW2, with one or two exceptions. Playing Halo MP now, but also the campaign...they did very well. Skipped Vanguard - assuming not much change from the normal Infinity Ward mutli.
Started with an Atari 2600, had most systems but rarely played nintendo since was in college.

But an adult man who routinely starts shitty gimmicks on a message board using gaybo terminology like chad and incel is a-ok, right bi-sex?

First and last game console was Intellivision, anyone remember that one.
-
Its almost as bad as grown men reading "Harry Potter"

Brutal meltdown about playing video games played by 9 year olds.

100%.
Remember not being able to afford it, and looking at the box thinking the graphics were incredible.
I had Atari, did a paper route and then got colecovision, but missed that one.

really, what do real men do, chop wood in the backyard? lol
-
Sadly there are really no good video games today to hold much interest. I played the fuck out of BL2 and it’s DLCs. Mr Torgue was awesome. They need to incorporate his voice and character into GPS devices and Alexa as options.
BL3 was a fucking bust. Not good, not funny, no notable dialogue or humor.
Seems every time I tried to play CoD I would wind up in a lobby of Mexicans who did nothing but yell the entire time (and die).

Ever watch westerns? That's what Mexicans do.
But, party chat has eliminated a lot of listening to others, which is both good and bad.

What about your time spent creating threads about other men? That’s surely a manly endeavor and considered time well spent, right? It’s gotta be right up there with sucking cock chopping wood.

I loved gaming until puberty hit and I kinda checked out. Can't get back in to it and I've tried numerous times.
It seems like it gets harder to find and do things you enjoy the older you get. If you still enjoy gaming then I'd say consider yourself lucky.

No. Played video games up until mid 20's and gave them up cold turkey. Way too much time wasted with no return.
-

Hunt wild game for food and war against other tribes, rape, pillage, etc
-
I have off and on my entire life, i'm not very social.
Nothing wrong with playing for couple hours here and there.
Same as watching a movie or tv show.
I built a driving simulator for iRacing and other driving games. Wheel, stick, pedals, real feedback. Pro drivers use them.
Cost a bit but it's a lot of fun and very realistic.
Some of my friends will stop by on the weekends to use it sometimes. And we are all over 40.
-
Hunt wild game for food and war against other tribes, rape, pillage, etc
You can do all that in video games from the comfort of mums basement
-
Resident Evil and Assassins Creed because I love the history behind it. Gears of War and Call of Duty
I don't play random vidieo games as a female character.
-
Ever wonder why your girl is disgusted at the site of you sitting there accomplishing zero?
-
Occasionally maybe on a weekend night for a few hours in the winter when fuck all else to do and fuck all on the telly. Just go on single player games none online. Never bothered for years but gave it a go again after having kids and stopped going on the piss every weekend and was stuck in the house. Don’t see the harm in it even my dad had an Xbox haha
-

I have seen attorney's that play video games and their wives are miserable but put up with it. You can argue that they put up with it because the husband makes money. I've also seen politicians that do the same and again, wife is upset with the behavior but takes it.

Great series of games (the main ones that is) a few of them were duds but great overall the remake of the first ever one is best of the lot imo

I hadn’t played video games in years but I recently got an Xbox and the only game I have currently is forza 5. It’s pretty cool, has like 700 cars or so. All real cars from all the different car companies and you can modify the heck out of them. I can’t do the games where you dump hours or days into a character like an rpg game, I just like to be able to pick up and play a game then be done with it. I might try the new halo game next. But, I do agree with the OP, video games a waste of time for most people. Unless of course you’re one of these streamers making a ton of money playing them.

What are we supposed to be accomplishing? I don't want to be a President. Am I supposed mow the lawn all day, or work on my car, or chop wood.?

This.Monks are the happiest people on earth, scientifically tested, and they spend half the day just meditating and focusing on being present.

Would love to play some games with Henda

nothing but a bunch of outdated stereotypes that haven't been true since the early 90's in this thread
if you don't like video games you don't like having fun
how is it anymore of a "time waster" than watching tv or youtube, using the internet, social media or any other hobby for that matter? every hobby can be called a "time waster", do we really need to use every second of the day to work or make money?
red dead redemption 2 and the last of us have better stories and character development than any movie i've seen in the last 20 years
i think golf is silly, boring, and overpriced yet every rich guy i've ever met loves it so i guess that is more acceptable since it is associated with rich guys
as for women, many women these days play video games too so that is another outdated stereotype

The last video game I think I played was with this baby. A couple of my friends had it.

Not the last twenty or so years for me, bit like bodybuilding Family and work took over, but enjoyed playing FIFA prior to that.

I chop wood.

Gaming, no. I can't. I once lost a couple of months to Age of Empires II. I even lost a couple month's evenings to Slitherio. They kept playing in my head even when I lay down to go to sleep, so kind of a problem.
If you gave me an awesome, modern day game, you wouldn't see me for 6 months. I'd be broke, zero physique, and need to readjust my sleep cycle to when it's nighttime. I don't want that.
-
I also grew out of it.
But I dislike about being an adult that everything has to be so practical and rational. There is something enjoyable in doing creative things, and there should be room for that.

It is entertaining but putting that same energy into online betting could make a person a lot of money.

I bought Atari 2600 with my 1st Communion money. May of 1981 I believe.
My cousins had Intellivision. Like you I thought it was next level. I loved their boxing game.
Next up was Colecovision. Got it for my birthday. Dad took it back cuz it was a lemon. Got a replacement one and it too was a dud. We both said fuck it and got my money back.
Later on I got Nintendo. RBI baseball was my all time favorite. Used to only play at night or when it rained. It was the 1987 edition as it had the good Mets lineup from 86.
That was really the last time I was into video games.
-
I dove into online gaming back in Wolfenstein/Doom/Quake era. I quickly realized what a swirling sucking life robbing black hole I had gone down. I quit
-
I believe it is a waste of time. Even when i was a kid.
-
I play PS4 games occasionally, takes me for ever to complete a game's story line. I play single player only, never the online multiplayer stuff.
Best games I've played lately, all developed by Sony Studios:

There is nothing creative about playing a video game. It's just a high tech, time sucking version of an endless crossword puzzle made to look like a movie.

Completely untrue. The directing, cinematography and character development can rival any good movie, and there’s plenty of problem-solving and creative design to keep the player challenged and engaged.

probably 10 years ago or so by now... Was a fan of blizzard games. I tried to pick it up from time to time but couldn't get the same feel.
Also I changed my focus to do mostly things productive in the little spare time that I have. Something that will generate income in one way or another or something I learn something from.
