This documentary is about a man from Texas named Kenny Saylors, who is morbidly obese man [= BMI of 40+], who is ~5'9" and 315-lb [271-lb would be a BMI of 40]. Kenny's body fat was 53%. His lean body mass was 147-lb.
Apparently he fasted for 40 days on just water [the title says 50 days, but within seven minutes of the documentary, he says he picked 40], under medical supervision, but there have been suggestions online that he faked it:
It's sad that so many people today think EVERYTHING can be done overnight, as is often the case, but is really not the case with weight loss, since it's more about long-term lifestyle changes/practices, than it is about going on a diet.
I thought the documentary was new, and has a release date of 2009 on IMDB...but in one part he calls President Clinton's office, which leads me to believe that it was filmed in 2000.
From the looks of recent pictures of Kenny [the first one below is from 2017, and the next one is more recent] it appears that after filming was complete, he went back to his old habits.
It's no wonder he wasn't able to sustain his weight loss progress, from such an extreme and unsustainable program.
I would love to read Henda's opinion on this.

I had never heard of keto sticks before...have any Getbiggers used them? From blood testing I've done, I'm always just a wee bit into ketosis due to eating a low carbohydrate diet. I didn't even know you can do home tests for this:

Easy way to test.
Matt I`ll PM you later bud.

THE 3 BEST WAYS TO TEST KETONES
URINE STRIPS
Ketone strips only measure excess ketones not utilized by the body and therefore released in urine. It’s a useful and affordable method for those just starting out in the first 3-4 weeks of keto.
However, once you have been in ketosis for a while your body becomes fat-adapted and more efficient in utilizing the ketones produced in your body which can result in false negatives when using ketone strips.
BREATH KETONE METERS
These breath ketone meters are more reliable and accurate than urine tests although they still come second best to the blood meters listed below.
Although the upfront cost is higher than the ketone urine strips, the breath meters can be seen as a one-time purchase that can be reused as many times as you like, making it a good return on investment and an option to consider!
BLOOD KETONE METERS
This method is by far the most accurate, measuring ketone levels in your blood.
Although rather expensive (the meters are relatively cheap but the strips are costly and need to be purchased on an on-going basis), those who are serious about measuring their ketone levels as accurately as possible swear by this method.
Many people also report they can tell they are in ketosis simply by noticing the following signs and symptoms:
keto breathe - a slightly acetone smelling breath is often the first sign you may be in ketosis
increased urination - as you lose weight, fluid loss occurs before weight loss so visiting the toilet regularly becomes a regular event
decreased hunger - as you stop the sugar-insulin roller coaster, hunger begins to diminish and you begin to burn your own fat stores
rapid weight loss - hallelujah! You have turned into a fat burner, not a sugar burner

Hey, thanks wes!!! I would appreciate that. 🙂
It's funny...when I was on an Army tasking in Manitoba in 2002 after the G8 Summit, I learned what fly tape was...lol...a friend working with me was like "How have you never seen fly tape before?"
My only answer was...I guess things are so cold here that we don't have many flies, even in the summer [it's 22°F right now, and we just had 22 inches of snow yesterday!].
As for Kenny from the documentary...looks like he's in a better spot in life, but is still overweight. From two years ago:

These sound like they would work for me...as you can see from my pictures, it's not like I'm ultra-lean by any means. I'm just always a touch into ketosis, based on my blood test results, including my most recent one.
So is it safe to say that these strips are accurate for those just a touch into ketosis, but as you get deeper into it, they become less accurate?

I am on a 40 day sausage, cinnamon roll and cobbler fast. So far I have gained 17 pounds.
-
I'm hungry just thinking of this.
Lol...who does a 40-day water fast? No wonder he still looks to be at least 280-lb, when he was 315 when he filled the documentary when Bill Clinton was still in office...
Early on in the documentary, he starts looking into professional help on his "journey", and the woman he's talking to tells him that a 40-day fast is unhealthy, and would at the very LEAST require medical supervision.
In the BFTO 2002, George Farah said he was in a coma after being shot, and dropped from something like 195-lb to 110-lb, and that if he didn't have muscle, he would have wasted away and possibly died. Basically, his steroid gains saved him.
Barring being in a medically supervised coma out of necessity, who would go on such an extreme weight cut? Bodybuilders and even MMA fighters go on extreme cuts, but not for 40 days...it makes no wonder he didn't keep much of the weight off, if any.

22” of snow? Fuck that shit. We are pretty much out of the snow and getting jive weather and couldn’t be more excited.

We in the West have a lot of time on our hands.

Yep - haha. It's crazy:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/thunder-bay/northwestern-ontario-snow-closures-1.6394333
Also, consider: this IS jive weather for this time of year over here! ;D 22°F / -6°C may as well be the tropics for Thunder Bay. ;D
Definitively nice cool whether where I am, where walking is no problem - while people didn't drive in all that snow until it was cleared if they could avoid it, we routinely go to -40°F at least every second winter, and probably more like 6 or 7 in 10 winters here. :)
We even went to -60°F in 2013! :-X

So is it safe to say that these strips are accurate for those just a touch into ketosis, but as you get deeper into it, they become less accurate?
Correct, as your body becomes better at using ketones for energy, there will be more ketones in your blood and far less in your urine.
-
Fasting will demineralize your teeth and rest of body and you lose fat get fired from job because you have no energy
-
Every human should fast, it's extremely healthy for you. Especially if you're a bodybuilder, giving you're digestive system a rest from pounding all that food day in and day out, increased growth hormone production, fat burning, detox from toxins. If you do it correctly you'll lose zero muscle. I recommend no longer than 3 days though.

I recommend no more than 3 meals.
actually 1to 2 meals would be ideal, preferably in a 4 hour eating window.

I don't force myself to fast, and don't go more than 20 hours without eating. But I fast naturally since I've been eating very low carb I just don't get hungry for 16 to 20 hours. I eat one or two meals a day. I don't fast, I feast.
But the way I've heard MDs and PHDs recommend fasting for autophagy is water fasting for 3 days every 3 months. My goal is to get to this eventually.

You can fast way more often than that, plus you don't have to spend money on food or GH.

Haha no problem my friend
After skipping through the video and seeing he only lost 44lbs my opinion is thst he is still a repulsive fat piece of absolute shit and thst he should shut the fuck up about his weight loss till he is of an appropriate and respectable weight and not a disgusting 271lb eyesore who also probably offends the nasal passages of everyone he encounters.
I’m pig bastard sick of hearing stupid fat cunts shouting from the rooftops and expecting to be praised to high heaven every time they lose a few pounds which seems to be what’s expected these days
-

Yes, I can. But should I and do I really need to? I don't believe so. But if it works for you and others, then that's great.

I feel you. Definitely give it a shot though, at some point you'll see what all the hype is about.

Meal one: chicken,salad,water
Meal two: chicken,salad,water
Meal three: chicken,salad,water
Plus walking six X a week.
Fat fuck needs to keep his metabolism working
-
44lbs in 40 days and he was 315lbs short guy? Sounds like he may have started eating earlier than the 40 days.
Biggest loser the real big people are still eating yet drop 20lbs+ in the first week as water and shit leave the body.
The best series is ‘Alone’ where they dump people in a place and they have 10 tools and have to survive for as long as possible. The best location is Vancouver Island, always lots more action due to bears. The Arctic one was pretty insane, they finally got a legit Hunter on.
They all drink water, become less active after the first week due to hunger. They get pulled out once they reach a certain BMI or they make a call to leave.
There was a tall guy 290lbs who went in and I think lasted 30 or so days. He lost 90lbs, looked like an athlete. All the fatties look great losing the weight.
-
Eat less, lose weight, eat more, gain weight. That'll be $100 for the technical advice.

that's actually the worst thing a fat person should do. Every time you eat you spike your insulin levels, even if it's just protein, they'd be way better off eating all that chicken in one meal, possibly 2 in a 4 hour eating window, and definitely ditch the salad and chicken for beef and eggs.
-

To be quite honest with you I had no idea that protein would spike insulin levels to any significant degree.
I just was inferring that a fat guy should eat low cal and water only would drive me nut in a hurry.
Thanks for the info.

anytime you eat it will spike how much depends on what you actually eat, but yeah even if it's straight protein it will, for certain people (bodybuilders) looking to gain size then it's a good thing, but for some fat person their best strategy ideally would be one Giant meal a day, thus the majority of their day would be spent in ketosis burning their own body fat for fuel.

Yeah but I bet you're just 2 days from being contest shredded - just pop a lasix and get those waterlogged cankles sorted ;D

That make sense.....I always thought that only complex carbs spiked insulin levels making one store fat.....that`s why I listed salad as it is a simple carb and it actually burns more calories to digest that it contains if eaten plain or with just vinegar.
May be bro-science but that`s what I was always told.
I guess you`re never to old to learn something new.

Eat when you are hungry. Don't eat if you aren't hungry. Amazing how easy it is if you don't overthink it. Even animals know this.

This is how you do it. Side note: Cole is an absolute Getbigger, the guy is absolutely brutal, but his methods are effective. I highly recommend his videos.

Two best ways to lose weight and bodyfat:
1) Calories restriction method - eat less calories than you burn. This is unpleasant and usually is only good for short-term weight and fat loss. Over 90% failure rate over long-term. Yo-yo dieting. Will-power diet. The typical "diet" under many different forms, i.e. Weight-Watchers, Grapefruit Diet, Water Diet, Jenny Craig, Biggest Loser, etc. High carb "balanced" Western diet. Can only be maintained through will-power because you are hungry all the time. Sometimes combined with intermittent fasting which further reduces calorie consumption (eat in short daily time window but eat normally). Usually combined with exercise like cardio to burn even more calories.
2) Keto - Very low carbs (50 grams or less per day), moderate protein, very high fat diet makes body convert body and dietary fat to glycogen for energy (ketosis). No calorie counting. Sometimes combined with intermittent fasting to further restrict calories. You eat less calories because the high fat content of the diet makes you feel full longer. Not unpleasant since you feel full for long periods. Since you feel full you eat less often and eat fewer calories. Calories must still be lower than energy output to lose weight. Can become monotonous because of limited food choices. No pizza Fridays. No beer. No cookies.
Best foods to eat on Keto:
Meat, eggs, fish
Non-starch vegetables (green like broccoli)
Berries (but sparingly)
Cheese, cream
Nuts, seeds
Butter, healthy oils

Another form of calorie restriction dieting combined with fasting. Eat less than you burn.
It works but he won't be able to stay on such a diet long-term except by sheer willpower because it is too unpleasant.

He's been like that since 2016.
-
He's been like that since 2016.
It can be done. Some people have very strong will power to stay on such an unpleasant diet. He may have it. If you can do it then more power to you.
Tony Pearson can do it. Lots of women starve themselves all the time to stay slim.
Some Bhuddist monks eat very low calories all the time as part of their self-discipline. Oprah can't do it. Few of the Biggest Losers have been able to do it.
His Snake drink is just a unsweetened electrolyte replacement to have while fasting. Some minerals but no calories or nutrition.
https://www.amazon.com/SNAKE-Juice-Electrolyte-Unflavored-Fasting-Focused/dp/B07F5YZNYV/
He tells people to strictly eat one small meal a day in a 4 hour window. He calls it a snack.
He says it is a weight-loss diet. This must be maintained by strict calorie intake and weight monitoring.
Count your calories all the time. Log your weight on the scale everyday.
Does that sound fun?
