That's equal to running 100 metres in 11.975 seconds.
That's really good, although I'm not clear if that is a record, or close to one?
I feel that speed is the first thing to leave an athlete. Whereas strength is the last.
I know my fastest 100 metre time as a preteen/teenager was sub-13 seconds, but I can't recall if it was sub-12.5 seconds. It probably was. But never sub-12. My best 400m time was around 62.5 seconds.
I'm not sure if anyone knows the Army beep test [I'm not sure if the USA and Canada use the same one, but I got either 11.5 or 12 on that.
I'd be surprised if I could run the 100m in under 17 seconds today. I assume I could get it to under 15 seconds with training, but I couldn't hazard a guess how fast I could get to today. My guess: not very!
As I said, IMO, speed is the first thing to leave an athlete / leave any of us, as we age.

Gee, dad. He’s fast.

Impressive speed. How fast was Rickey Henderson?

The initial 40 yards being run is mainly acceleration so much of it is being run at less than full speed.
4.38 for 40 yards is very fast. T.O. would have been top 10 for wide receivers at the 2022 combine.
He was electric when he first hit the NFL 25 years ago.
As T.O. said, it's not just speed that makes a great receiver. You need good route running, great hands, ability to change direction, football skills.
There have been a few guys in the NFL who have run in the 4.2s.

Fast enough to leave before the check gets to the table.

Hill's first 10-15 steps are insane.
A true sprinter.

Not sure, but I used to box with him at the Harvard club

I used to be able to run 11secs 100m
Never did athletics just played Rugby League
I often wonder what I could do now, scared of having a fucking heart attack trying

Running away from cops since childhood sure payed off.

I don't buy it. He was considerably slower at the end of his NFL career. You don't get faster as you age.

he's probably lighter, on all-you-can-eat GH buffet, and has the advantage of years of recovery. Older players can still flash their talents but can't sustain them over a season.

Terrell Owens 1996 combine scores.
Ran a 4.65 40 yard at the combine.
Got a D rating overall. :D
He's in the HOF.

That's what I mean. He was never known as a speedster and we are to believe he dropped 3 tenths of a second in the last 25 years. ::)

Maybe hire that camera man. Lost a tenth while holding a camera pointed at runners all the way.

That's equal to running 100 metres in 11.975 seconds.
It’s way faster than that unless he has terrible “speed endurance” (unlikely for an athlete of his caliber), assuming his run here wasn’t a flying start. In the 100 meters most guys don’t even get up to their top speed until about halfway. In Bolt’s 9.69-second 100 meters, he ran the first 40 yards in ~4.35 seconds.
4.38 is super-impressive for a middle-aged guy.

Owens was 213 and 6'3" at the combine.
That's big for a wideout.
He could be physical.

He must be on that hcl creatine
-
He has been playing in the CFL at a much skinnier weight.
He could be quick for that reason, but he isn’t nearly as good at playing.
-
Jerry should bring both AB and TO to Dallas! What could go wrong?
Real reality show all day, every day 👍
