I think I`m gonna` have to quit training due to gastroenterology issues.
My marriage has kinda` sucked for at the last 10 years......not that bad,but not that great either.
That`s why I decided after laying off and eating like a pig for 5 years after my lung Cancer diagnosis to enter the Masters Nats even though I`d be giving up 8 years,.....have done it before and won my class.
It seems like bodybuilding was all I had left and I know I have nothing more than a mediocre build but i`ve been doing it forever.
My wife says well you can still lift weights.....no concrete goal means no lifting for me not in my depressesd state.
I`ll put on some Allman Brothers buy some tequila and just fade away.
Fucking butchers killed my mother at 50 years of age when she had Colitus.
Well,I`m hoping for the best....if not a good outlook it`s "Whipping Post" and Jose Cuervo.

You are still a role model for me, brother. I know exactly how you feel and think about this. Frustration is there but so too is our disappointment with ourselves. For me, depression is like when I was a kid and someone would grab me and chuck me into a pool that was over my head. I cannot swim so I held my breath until I touched bottom and then pushed off toward the closest edge of the pool and ultimately pull myself out.
That's life for all of us. You can still have goals and while they're not as high as what you had before, you still have to push off hard to reach each one. And you will.
I am home again due to medical problems. I get upset and then my wife or grown up kids (!) will remind me that per my doctors I was given a year to live. That year is almost here and it has been my goal to reach it and keep pushing off toward the next side of the pool until I can climb out.
I hope I am making sense here because again, I know and understand what is happening to you and want to encourage you that I think you can do this. Lately my "training" has been reading about IroNat's training. And your training. And sometimes when he makes an entry and I catch it, Prime's.

But my 2 cents...
It doesn't necessarily have to be a choice between nationals or tequilla. There's a lot of shit out there thats worth exploring and sometimes it's just too hard to see when life's got you down. Whatever you do don't let your mind or your body stop moving... stay active.
Kayak, mountain bike, take up a martial art. For vices skip alcohol and try psychedelics. Just try new experiences.
Sometimes when you're forced to go through a change, it doesn't mean you've been beaten or that you have to give up. look at it as a rite of passage to move on to something new.
I know Robby Robinson get shit on here for various reasons but a quote was attributed to him once: "I don't plan on growing old, I just plan on growing."

Dave I had Hepatitus B in the 80`s......105 degree temp for 6 straight days......106 is death.....on the 7th. day I woke up and signed myself out out AMA.......felt perfecft.
On the Colitus issue I figured it may have been hereditary since it killed my mom at 50 years of age......I lost 40 pounds existing only on a Tbsp, of mac + cheese at intervals plus water......one day not long afterwards felt great could eat again put ball my weight back on etc. etc.
I have a lot of similar stories but don`t want to stray to close to ESFitness territory but for a guy who always hated himself,somebody up there likes me!

So why do you think if you stop lifting weights your stomach and digestive system is going to magically feel better? Eat regular food stop eating weird shit and you will feel better. Also do not eat late at night and if you do prop yourself up in bed. Quitting weightlifting is not the answer to a stomachache.
Now on to the PED questions ulcerative colitis is inflammation of the large intestine. Anabolic steroids are anti inflammatory they will actually help your colitis

I have such bad anxiety issues I can`t ever stop worryinf over the slightest minutia at times.

Thaks deadz....I`l do just that trust me.....I never listen to the fist quack that tells me some BS.
For example I had very minor symptoms of this years and years ago.....I never go to a doctor unless I`m hurting real bad .....so I go tell these nice nurses my story and in walks some Iraninan looking cat who resembles the fucking "Iron Sheik"..................never looks at me or even in my eyes (nh) but says "prep him for surgery"............I said buddy I hope you got good life insurance,cuz if you try to stop me from leaving,you`ll need it.
I went to another guy not long afterwards,.......turned out all I needed was an enema.....the "Shiek" assumed I had and intestinal blockage......how do you just cut an man with no tests ever being done ???
Fuck that.....maybe he had med confused with some other dumb fuck.

Colitis Is a horrible bastard illness I was essentially “cured” of it at age 28 after surgery to remove my large intestine (I had no choice, Initially like yourself I flat out refused surgery for years till biopsies showed pre cancerous cell changes and I was forced into surgery) in hindsight I wish I done it sooner as the improvement in quality of life was substantial. Surgery sounds drastic and I won’t lie the recovery is fucking horrific but worth it I know it’s different over there and these things cost money but please don’t rule it out
I also found eating clean wasn’t always the answer as some clean foods aggravate the condition I found eating proteins and fats and zero carbs eased symptoms a lot
I know everyone different and what works for one may not work for another but anything worth a try keep you training and posting here my friend

I had a bag for 3 months mate while everything healed they sliced up the end of my small intestine and stitched it together in a way to make a sort of makeshift colon so they could connect everything back up, but I think they can’t do it in every case as my cousin has had her colon removed as well but is also stuck with a bag

It's really motivated me to stay in shape.
Tomorrow i'm going on a 25 mile ride in the mountains, lots of terrain and elevation changes.
Gives me something to be excited about, since weight training to me is getting pretty boring.

But i've been doing a lot of mountain biking including some of the downhill stuff.
It's really motivated me to stay in shape.
Tomorrow i'm going on a 25 mile ride in the mountains, lots of terrain and elevation changes.
Gives me something to be excited about, since weight training to me is getting pretty boring.
I`ll still train but no stupid contests and I`ll be more diverse in my training....I need to start a serious walking program...........no not MALL WALKING SOBCHAK !! LOL :D

Colitis Is a horrible bastard illness I was essentially “cured” of it at age 28 after surgery to remove my large intestine (I had no choice, Initially like yourself I flat out refused surgery for years till biopsies showed pre cancerous cell changes and I was forced into surgery) in hindsight I wish I done it sooner as the improvement in quality of life was substantial. Surgery sounds drastic and I won’t lie the recovery is fucking horrific but worth it I know it’s different over there and these things cost money but please don’t rule it out
I also found eating clean wasn’t always the answer as some clean foods aggravate the condition I found eating proteins and fats and zero carbs eased symptoms a lot
I know everyone different and what works for one may not work for another but anything worth a try keep you training and posting here my friend
Thanks Henda it is truly fucking horrible......,I remembered your battle with Colitus so I knew you`d chime in, and though your post is very serious and informative and very much appreciated, it`s the one that scares the piss out of me......never had an operation other than 36 stitches.... when the cut my mom...........she was dead in two days and looked awesome right after the operation.

Grape Ape this is very embarassing but this is what happened to me 2 nights ago.....the night before my trip to do legs:
I was laying in bed in some boxers,then shit just suddenly came out of my ass.....I`m like WTF......then I burped and at least a quart or more of liquid came out of my mouth flowing over my entire face and head.......this happened for over 24 hours.....just ate 4 Tbsp. of Peach Yogurt......first thing I ate in days besides water.
The last time I had it I lost 40 pounds and looked like wraith.
Just got a lot of gear.,....PM me for good prices !! ;D

I had an issue similar to this many years ago I just got chronic diarrhea one day and after a few weeks I had a colonoscopy and they said I had colitis put me on some meds and it didn’t stop so I started taking Imodium 1 pill daily and I stayed on it for 8 years and it worked then one day I stopped taking it and the diarrhea came back. I actually stopped taking it prob 10 times in those 8 years and immediately starting pissing out my ass. Finally after 8 years and doctors then saying I didn’t have colitis and many colonoscopies,mris,ct scans,c rays ultra sounds and figuring nothing out, I stopped taking it one more time and I haven’t had it since and it’s been prob 7 years. I did lose 20 lbs when it initially happened.
Let me clarify that prior to the Imodium ad pill I started taking anything I ate I pissed out my ass within 30 minutes. It was insane and doctors to this day have no idea why it happens or how it stopped.

I have heard about people taking low dose (81 mg?) aspirin as a blood thinner for heart disease, but I had never heard it used for COPD, which my understanding is a breathing/lung disease. My question was is emphysema different from COPD in some way?
I know people stay on low dose aspirin long-term for heart disease, but I was just wondering if maybe once the pain/irritation is lowered (say 10 days) that the aspirin is more detrimental than positive to your health? I was thinking that possibly it is causing stomach or bowel irritation and not helping a whole lot with the lung issue.

You are correct, 81 mg (baby aspirin) is a blood thinner which is often prescribed for people who are at risk of a stroke or heart failure. My PC doctor suggested them to me years ago. It may be over prescribed. There are side effects some of which outweigh the benefits, such as uncontrolled bleeding which seniors are more likely to have. People prone to stomach ulcers or piles which bleed probably should not take low dose aspirin. My unprofessional advice is to temporarily discontinue the aspirin when you are having stomach problems. You should also take at least a weeklong break from them prior to having surgery.

Thanks guys........just got back from the hospital and it turns out I had a severely swollen gall bladder.....swollen to the point where they were going to remove it immediately.
I was nervous cuz I never had surgery but the doctor supplied info on how much easier the operation is to perform these days .
They did however tell me there was always a chance that I might not come out of the anastesthia......I just told them that I wasn`t worried because death is afraid of me.,they thought I was nuts....I lied of course as I was shitting my pants, but have been declared dead on a few occasions and came very close to death due to medical conditions in the past.
So I waited around and talked to my wife about it and she said just do it and this won`t keep reoccurring.....I agreed,I would wish the agony I`ve been going through on my worst enemy........not that I truly have one.
THEN a beautiful blonde doctor came in and told me my gall bladder swelling had subsided a bit and that we were going with an anti-biotic plan and if that didn`t work then the surgery would more than likely be imminent.
I hope this is the end of this BS and want to sincerely thank my getbig family for all the support and encouragement you crazy iron brothers of mine have offered.

Great news! If the doctor recommends removing it insist on Robotic surgery. It is much better and far safer than traditional incision removal surgery. My prostatectomy was DaVinci Robotic Surgery. I have one scar which is about 1/2" long.

Great news! If the doctor recommends removing it insist on Robotic surgery. It is much better and far safer than traditional incision removal surgery. My prostatectomy was DaVinci Robotic Surgery. I have one scar which is about 1/2" long.

Thanks guys........just got back from the hospital and it turns out I had a severely swollen gall bladder.....swollen to the point where they were going to remove it immediately.
I was nervous cuz I never had surgery but the doctor supplied info on how much easier the operation is to perform these days .
They did however tell me there was always a chance that I might not come out of the anastesthia......I just told them that I wasn`t worried because death is afraid of me.,they thought I was nuts....I lied of course as I was shitting my pants, but have been declared dead on a few occasions and came very close to death due to medical conditions in the past.
So I waited around and talked to my wife about it and she said just do it and this won`t keep reoccurring.....I agreed,I would wish the agony I`ve been going through on my worst enemy........not that I truly have one.
THEN a beautiful blonde doctor came in and told me my gall bladder swelling had subsided a bit and that we were going with an anti-biotic plan and if that didn`t work then the surgery would more than likely be imminent.
I hope this is the end of this BS and want to sincerely thank my getbig family for all the support and encouragement you crazy iron brothers of mine have offered.
