I was going to post in the Pellius RIP thread but it seems to be locked.
It was about one year ago that we learned Pellius had passed away.
I miss him and thinking about it still makes my heart hurt.
He was such a good man. Gone way too soon.

I remember him whilst being a lurker. Quite entertaining and passionate in some of his 'exchanges' with others on here. I used to watch some of his youtube videos and recall that he seemed a little out of breath in his last one - I think it was a driving video. Something definitely seemed off. Poor guy. Apparently he was loved and had a large family and enjoyed life. Ultimately: he was a winner when it comes to this stardust life we have here on this spinning miniscule dot in the universe. Wherever/whatever he is now: he seemed to have made an impact which is more than could be said for some of the assholes on this planet.

Although he operated like a humbler and be a pain in the balls, I really liked the guy.
He had his values and said as he saw it.
Too bad he couldnt see the signs of possible heart failure, I can imagine he had chest pain, edema and shortness of breath for sometime which could be interpreted as some other ailments.

I have some wonderful videos and photos from Pellius.
I would send him training videos and he would send me back 85,000 word responses with step-by-step videos on how to do the exercises correctly. He had such beautiful videos of him interacting with his family members. You could really tell how much he cared for them and vice versa.
I won’t post anything against his family’s wishes, but he was a great person and an amazing friend. He cared about Getbig and its members deeply. He definitely is gone way too soon.

don't really know but having that surgery many times, it's not uncommon to get blood clots after. I had a pulmonary embolism shortly after my first one. not fun at all.

My personal experience says this is most likely what happened to him. He had more faith than I and so I would say that it is my hope that upon closing his eyes as he went under the anesthesia and "opening" them, the next words he heard were "Well done, faithful servant".

Philip Gilkey was an interesting guy and internet warrior. He argued to the bitter end and never yielded even when against the ropes. At times he was a nasty prick but he was capable of ending feuds. That fight with the homeless guy did some physical damage to him and he eventually needed an operation. He said the operation was the worst decision he ever made. Maybe he contracted Covid or consented to the jab. Very strange for a guy with family and friends in Hawaii that there was no obituary/funeral.

I know many these days who give a pass on funerals, obits, etc.
Times have changed. The friends and family of those who pass know about it.
Many dont feel the need to pay big dollars to make a spectacle of it, and just keep things private.

Burial is another matter if you want to be interred in a cemetery as you have to buy a plot and then might have a formal ceremony.
If you just put the ashes in a dumpster its very cheap.

I went to the place where Pellius last worked to ask his coworkers what happened, but I couldn’t force myself to go in and talk to them.
I did have some contact with one of his family members and I’m going to visit more at Christmas time and see what I can learn. If they seem reluctant to meet, I will just let it go.

I don't know what happened, could be a million things. But my thought was that he knew things were "serious," that's why he could sort of let loose in his last videos.
And there were serious issues. If he told me I'm sure he told many others in this thread. I don't think it would be right for me to elaborate and it's impossible for me to know if these things were related but my guess is they probably were.

As far as I'm aware they were good friends in regular contact outside of this board regarding life/training etc. How is it creepy to have a friend in your memory? Sounds like a good friend that honours their relationships with people even when they're gone. I wonder what kind of friendships you hold and what value you place on them?

Josh contacted me via an alias wanting to know Philip's name. Pellius posted a medical report that had his name on it. It was removed but I had it on my history. At the time I had a long, nasty exchange with Pellius here and he resorted to posting vulgar Photoshops trying to embarrass me. Josh wanted to embarrass Pellius so we joined forces. Or so I thought. Josh contacted some nieces of Philip and the result was that all his family stopped posting personal stuff on the net. Josh actually called Pellius and they ended up mates! Pellius even referred to Josh as his mentor. Pellius was part of a large family of brothers and sisters. His dad was a prominent, respected part of the community in Honolulu. His sister always had reunions and posted photos. So I for one would like to know more about his demise. JustPlaneJane might be able to shed some light on what happened to bring some closure to this business.
Philip and I debated hypertrophy here and on Ironage. We agreed on everything except the frequency. He became an Elf as he was seeking more information and access to things like growth hormone. One of his last videos was about whether or not he had a wig!

You are far from "creepy", Jane. Just as surely as there is no "sin" in sincere, there is no deceit in your words nor in your intent toward Pellius' family. I am no better than any here but I have been where Pellius is and back again several times and I truly have no idea why me.
If any here feel my words are "creepy", they had best say their prayers prior to laying down to die this night or any night, for sleep is death without the responsibility.
Pellius must surely be alright.

Pellius was one of a kind. It is good to see that he is missed by all his Getbig friends. I have a rather unique reminder of his passing. He died on Halloween and my precious 14-year-old puppy Lucy was born on Halloween. Two events so distinctly different happening on the same day every year means I will never forget Pellius, even though he was often my nemesis.
Oddly enough, I must thank Pellius for calling me "soggy". At the time, it hurt because there was enough truth to it to render it more than just another dismissible internet troll insult. Overtime I came to realize that it is okay to be soggy when you have been around a long as me. It also helped me decide that weighing 165 lbs. was too thin for my frame and so I gained back 10 lbs. and became more consistent with red light therapy sessions.
Rest in peace Pellius and give them hell, wherever you are as I am sure you have been since you arrived.

If he makes up his mind about someone he will dispense with them as he sees fit. He had those big ears and got teased a lot growing up. In fact he refused to stay with women who wanted kids because he wouldn't want any to be teased if he passed on his 'elf' ears!

Thank you for your assistance with Pellius. He was on my case a lot. Not sure why. And at this point, I no longer care. It was more his problem than mine. Often people who are unhappy with themselves express this by being unkind to others. I don’t think Phil was a happy person… and that is a shame.
This business with Phil's prominent ears is interesting. Are large ears genetic? If so, it explains mine. My paternal grandfather had big ears, especially as he aged. My maternal grandfather had a large nose which seemed to get larger the older he got. It is no wonder I have such big ears and a bulbous proboscis. Reminds me of the wolf in fairytale Little Red Riding Hood. Fortunately, neither of my kids inherited these traits. LOL!
To be honest, I no longer care about my inherent physical traits. Instead, I've learned to embrace my uniqueness. At my age I am mostly grateful for my excellent health. Hopefully, your lifetime devotion to exercise and fitness has resulted in your good health as well.

I don't recall seeing any good in him or him saying anything nice to anyone online.
What I do remember is
The guy would argue all day long with just about everyone - every day - for years. Not just argue, but threaten, say how bad he wanted to fuck them up, what he'd do to them... 94% of threads he'd post in would get derailed and in the end it would just be him and "his opponent" "slugging it out". I remember that shit like it was yesterday. Every thread I clicked on I was like "ffs ::) Pelius fighting again? Fuck this, I'm out".
He loved to fight. Online, irl, wherever. He was a sadistic savage. The type who liked to crush his enemies, see them driven before him, and to hear the lamentation of their women.
He was accused of umm.. Japan Edo period behaviour for a long time. You all forget about that?
Wrote "I wanted like to give him a few kicks to body while he was on the ground but I heard someone say, "Brah, the cops are coming." after dropping a homeless man (he did deserve a beating though - but fucking a man (no homo) up further after KOing him is low).
Hated and started shit with every anonymous guy with an opinion, was always quick to bring up "where are your pics? You're an anonymous coward. Bet you lls." and believed / acted like he looked better than every anonymous poster.. because you know.. the reason why people want to stay anonymous online is because they look like shit ::) and clearly only good looking people (like Goodrum, Hippo, Pelius) show/reveal themselves online ::) ::) ::)
He was a bitter man who was clearly teased and bullied in school and never got over it. I'm guessing that's the (only) reason why he got into bodybuilding and fighting.
I don't understand how someone like Jane can become irl friends with someone like Pelius (off a bb forum).

Animal lovers (usually white women) thinking they know exactly how to control beasts/monsters, how to avoid being attacked, thinking they're safe... "pitbulls are misunderstood.. they're so sweet and beautiful"... ::) and then they get fucking mauled. Just like those "WELCOME IMMIGRANTS" fuckwits.
To me, from what I've seen, he wasn't that much better than bhanks. Both very similar.

I do agree. I've never spoken of him after he died, but I will say this once that I despised him. I respect Wes, Jane, and a few others who were fond of him enough to not post argumentative and potentially upsetting comments, though. Pellius used to drive me nuts. I eventually avoided him because everything was an argument and he was always an expert. Even if you found common ground it would become an argument. I thought there was something wrong with him.
I don’t know when my feelings about him changed, maybe it was when he opened up about working at the hardware store and learning new skills, but when he started posting videos I realized he wasn’t who I made him out to be. In the videos he was just a dude who posted here, if that makes any sense (compared to Johnny Falcon who is nuts in here and real life, or Bhanks who is also always Bhanks, no change online or in reality or maybe Goodrum who on boards is a character but is a different character in his videos).
