Just finished mine a few hours ago....even with Turbo Tax , the tax code is meant to just fuck with business owners.

Not for me. Already received my refund. A little over 17 grand. Previous years were horrible...owing 6, 7,8 grand. I have a great accountant worth every penny.

You can take like 250k in losses per entity and have like 3 different business entities to offset any actual personal income from a job or investments. Additionally, you can depreciate everything having businesses is how you avoid paying taxes.

Taxes are a huge industry. Making them simple would put a lot of folks out of work in the private, corporate and governmental world. The guv isn’t going to kill those jobs…….as much as I’d like them to

That’s a pretty lousy accountant if he has your withholding set up like that. Getting a big refund is suboptimal, just means you gave the government an interest free loan for the better part of a year.

Your AGI has to be less than 40k in order to use FreeTaxUsa as with most of these free services. Even if I was a burger flipper like yourself, I would never trust my assets to some free tax prep software. TurboTax connects with my Quickbooks and makes doing them much easier.
Now I'm going to keep quiet because I took my weekly shot of TRT and I might end up saying some crazy shit

It's meant to extract as much taxes as possible, it's tough. Get a good accountant to help you review and hang in there.

Get a real CPA to do your taxes and meet with them quarterly and right about now to tighten up your year ends. You get what you pay for by going with some online service. You’re smarter than that Vince, do yourself a favor and pay a professional.

what I do is work with a real accountant, but using an accounting software, I do all of the "manual labor" (uploading all invoices, bank statements, sales and purchases,...). The accountant has full admin rights to this tool and can access anything I put in there. So he then reviews it, and lets me know what to modify. This way, it's win win, accountant charges me less money, and accountant has more time for more clients and has to do less boring admin shit, and can just make money on reviewing and advising. Also the accountant does the filings to the tax office after review. So he does have to take it fully serious since his name is on there. I quite like this arrangement for the time being.
