The photoshop on kovacs arm is brutal.

The photoshop on kovacs arm is brutal.
Kovacs was a well known strict curl bro.
That's how he obtained that level of "mass".
Hater.
-
Idk if photoshopped, but that's insane
-
loved how he burried Nasshole on No Bull Radio back in the day :
"10,000mg's of test a week, nevertheless it works great!"
"and his lazy eye mesmerized me and I forget everything he says, it moves while you talk and you just don't remember what he says"
-
Kovacs was massive, and extremely strong, I think he could bench maybe 800 lbs

You don’t know if photoshop? You a tard pamith? Kovacs had 24-25” arms cutler has 21-22” in that pic kovacs arms are 35”-40”.

He bench pressed no where near 800 lbs. and his arm here is half the size in other pic. Make sense?

Knew him and he was absurdly gigantic. Once hung a whole weekend with him and Nassoil and Greg made El Sonbaty look like a twink. He was 320 and Kovacs around 380 or more.
He was extremely strong, yes, (lifted with him) but an 800 bench?! Get real. Not. Even. Close. At that time, only a couple men had broken seven, raw.
Edit: At that time, just ONE man had officially broken seven. In 2023, I know of only five. The strongest RIGHT NOW (Maddox) is working towards eight … and he won’t make it. In my opinion. The BEST 700-plus is Sarychev’s 738.
And Kirill was a “light” 385-ish pounds when he did that. Julius is pushin’ towards 500. Probably high fours. I think he’ll drop dead if he keeps going for that 800.

I bet they laugh at this picture while at bodybuilding reunions together. Two legends!

How tall was kovacs really?
-
I saw Kovacs walking down a hall at the Arnold Classic and he looked huge but not monstrous like Brian Shaw or Thor. He looked to be about the same height as me. Brian Shaw / Hafthor at their heaviest would make more of an impact because of their height. It would be interesting to see Big Show at his heaviest next to those two at their heaviest. Big Show at his peak was heavier and he has about 2-3" on Hafthor. But he never carried as much muscle as Brian or Thor.
I saw Orville Burke at the AC and he looked extremely wide and huge. This was before his illness.
-
How tall was kovacs really?
I would guess around 6'-2".
-
I would guess around 6'-2".
Yes, he was 6'2" - but he was a strong 6'2" - probably just under 6'2.5"
Gigantic man.
I believe he said he was 405-lb when Nasshoil came to visit him in Canada.
EDIT: he said he was a little over 400 when Nasser's glasses fogged up at the airport assessing his size:

I heard the stories of Kovacs logs he drops in the toilet

Wow so he was 6’2 400ish, that’s absolutely insane. I figured he was 6’4 or so. So he has to have a record of holding the most muscle to height ratio I would imagine.

Here's Jay next to Brian Shaw. Shaw has very good forearm genetics.

Wow...I was only about 6' 1.5" and weighed 250lbs and felt out of breath sometimes. I have no idea what weighing 400lbs or more could be like or even 300lbs. I had endurance from my high rep squats but still being that heavy has to be a chore on the organs, especially so the cardiovascular system.
-
I talked to Kovaks one year at the Southern States contest in Florida.....biggest guy I`ve ever seen, seemed like a good guy also.

He might have been a little over 6'-2". For sure a big dude. Really too bad he died at such a young age.

Was he out of breath just breathing? Being that large and strong has to be kinda cool but again, the heart must surely suffer.

When I was younger and the crazy trend was to be "300 in the off season" I thought I would give it a try. I got up into the high 280's and it truly became a horrible chore. I can't imagine what carrying around 400 lbs of bodyweight would be like.

He was at a booth and seemed fine when talking.

That's why he's dead.
At 6' i got up to 270 for about a year when i was power lifting and felt terrible.
Getting in and out of my Mustang GT was a chore because it was so low to the ground.
I don't see how these guys handle walking around at 300+.
It must be miserable.

Shaw does have good forearm genetics. I always liked the picture below of Shaw with Ed Coan.
Sorry, obsidian - I didn't mean to sound like I was correcting you on Greg's height. I was just saying - yes, you are right that he was 6'2"...but I think he was more like 6'2" and change, rather than Gunter, who was more like 6'1.5".
As you said, he may have even been 6'3".
EDIT: thanks to Skeletor for posting the picture:

That reminds me of The Rock getting into the car in Pain and Gain - massive man and smallish car. The Rock may have been around 280 there too.

The scary thing is that at that time people referred to 300 lbs as the threshold to being ridiculously heavy. Nowadays you could walk through Walmart and find 10 - 15 people who weigh more than that.
-
No need to photoshop Kovacks!

Lol, I forgot to post that photo.
That's the one. I'm sure if Ed was ever studied that we would find out that he has various powerful genetics in areas beyond the completely obvious - his hand size being one of them. I don't think having mitts like that doesn't hurt his strength.

I saw this photo when I searched Kovacs. He looks massive and this is before his Palumbuism phase. Let's give props to this giant who died for us bitches!

No problem. I'd be curious to see more comparisons of Kovacs next to other people to gauge his height.

The Rock is billed as 6'-5" but he is closer to 6'-2" or 6'-2.5". Chris Hemsworth is billed as 6'-3" and he has at least 1" over Dwayne Johnson in this photo. Hemsworth might be a smidge over 6'-3". His brother Liam might be around 6'-4".

ya, i'd say over 6'2. he trained at my gym a couple times. trained with a local guy 6' and 310. made him look small
a guy that worked for me and did not ever work out or follow the sport asked a couple years later,,,,
who was that big fukker that came in a few years ago and his wife had to go into the bathroom to wipe his ass for him?
i didn't hear about that when he was here and my staff who didn't know him brought it up two years later without knowing who
he was or any rumors about that.
i had read about that prior to that but didn't actually believe it until i found out it happened in my gym.

What’s Em’s ex doing with Greg Kovacs?

He dead. Jay alive and kicking.

I saw Kovacs at the 1998 Mr Olympia (New York Madison square garden) Ronnie's first win.. he had shaved his head bald and was absolutely enormous and tall! (Biggest guy there by far!) made a big impression on me... (this is when I " bulked up " to a fat 312 lbs)

You should have seen him at age 15, 16, 18.
Guy was a genetic freak for size, freakiest of freaks. A farm boy from Canada, type freak.

mops,
It took me a few minutes to find this post about Greg by Tony Doherty, but I thought you may enjoy it:
So here is a little story and a tribute to Kovaks.
The first time I met Greg was in Buffalo New York, I had traveled there with Sonny for his pro debut. It was the old Niagara Falls Pro show and I got to MC it, so it was a very memorable show for me. There were guys there from the WWF representing Vince McMahon and trying to steal talent from the IFBB ranks. They talked briefly to Sonny, a giant Samoan would have been a huge draw for them. He wasn't interested as he had waited his whole career to turn pro and was over the moon to be a part of the IFBB.
This huge kid from Canada came and introduced himself, he loved Sonny's physique and declared himself a fan. Sonny was rapt as he had only been there one day and didn't have a big fan base. This kid was Greg Kovacs who talked about his dream of turning pro one day. It wasn't until years later that Greg was the biggest bodybuilder on the planet, that he reminded us of that meeting all those years ago.
When I had him guest posing in Melbourne in '97 he was huge, the first 400lber, made famous by those Muscletech adverts. I remember a few things from the tour. He had his wife Kim with him, she fussed over him like nothing I had ever seen. Greg was a real sweater and when he ate would sweat up a treat. As soon as head would bead up on the forehead she would go into a panic "Greg, Greg, wait up, wait up, oh Greg" She would tear into his bag and out with a towel to wipe his brow and a little portable battery operated fan. She would sit there holding the fan and wiping his brow until he was done eating. From memory, she even chopped up his food and would have spoon fed it to him if required.
I remember going backstage to get him to come out and pose. I knocked on his change room door loudly, "Hey Greg, your on, lets do it!" No answer, again I knocked, "Hey Greg, your on, lets go!" I hear a muffled reply, "I'll be out soon". So this goes on for about 10 minutes, still he won't come out. So I went into my change room adjacent to his and put my ear to the wall to hear what the fuck was going on. It went something like this, "Kimmy I feel small, they're going to laugh at me, I don't want to go out there." Kim was reassuring him, "Greg, you're the biggest guy they have ever seen, they will love you, c'mon you can do it." This went back and forth until he finds his mojo and calls out, "I'm ready"
I introduce him, he brings the house down. All is good.
We had a young guy in the show called Ahmad Popol, a refugee from Afghanistan, He was a good kid that hung around the gym and loved to compete. He was about 120lbs. So we brought him out to pose with Greg who was agreat sport about it. As a promoter I was spruiking "The world's biggest bodybuilder meets the world's smallest bodybuilder!" The crowd loved it and we had a great show.
He was a nice guy and easy to work with, despite overheating, lacking confidence and being out of breath most of the time.

His arms were remarkably unimpressive for a guy his size btw

Greg in 1988 - age 19. Pressing 585-lb on the flat bench, and weighing over 300-lb with vascularity in his quads.
Absolute freak of nature.

Ruhl hitting the "relaxed, sitting at the table" pose to show off his shoulders and traps
Nasser is doing his best "leaning away with flexed arm pressed against torso to look big but relaxed"
