Title: I Shaved My HEAD BALD 4 Years After Hair Transplant
Post by: IroNat on November 13, 2023, 03:48:40 AM
Too much bother.
Just shave your head.
Save $$ on haircuts.
Notice the doctor who does these transplants just shaves his head.

Comment:

I am getting bald also. My main complaint isn't the looks, but more the exposure to sun and cold. Always have to have a hat with me. My apologies to Sam Sulek but i do not wear one when i workout or prep my meals in the kitchen.

I'm definitely getting thinner on top, the last two years. Using Minoxidil 5% spray as well as 1mg finasteride daily since last September (just over a year, now) I've kept my hair very short so haven't really had much comparison compared to the before videos + pics I took before I started. I'm regrowing my hair to that point so can do a comparison - which I'll know before Christmas this year and will post updates about it.

I'm both feeling positive and negative. The area where it was really bad (the crown at the back )seems to look better - much better - but for some reason, the front leading forward seems to have thinned out. So is it working or not? Or is the front issue maybe because I first only started spraying and using the spray specifically for the crown area and should have used it all over?

We'll see. If there's been no progress by Christmas with a good comparison video/pics - I'll stop using it.

Have avoided a transplant, as a last resort, as watching a lot of videos of the bad stories. People only seem to want to post the positive ones - naturally, you don't want to show people you messed up, it's human nature. I ought to add that I'll definitely try the transplant options, if it comes to that. I know it's vain but it's just something I've gotta do.

Didn’t watch the video but assuming it turned to shit in those 4 years?

Cosmetic surgeries turn out badly very often.

Even going to a uber-expensive Beverly Hills surgeon is no guarantee of a good result.

Just a fact as proven by the numerous Hollyweird stars who get terrible results.

You pays your money, you takes your chances.

When a man starts losing his hair it can be traumatic.

What men do to hide it gets ridiculous (comb-overs, hairpieces, etc.)

I started losing my hair in my mid 20s.  Shaved my head in mid 30s.

Too much bother to go through using the hair loss drugs and getting surgeries.

Famous men with little or no hair:

Sean Connery
Jason Statham
Bruce Willis
Dwayne Johnson

Incorrect.  You only ever notice the bad examples of cosmetic surgery.

Millions of people have had cosmetic procedures performed and nobody but their surgeon would ever know.

My friend shaved his head and instantly became a cancer patient. It’s not for everybody.

Been told it's a very painfull procedure.

Not really.  It’s a lengthy process but they use local anesthetic and a sedative to smooth things over.

Starting hair loss drugs early, at the first sign of hair loss, is most important.  They are good at stopping/slowing hair loss but not great at regrowing lost hair.  That’s where the need for a transplant comes in.

Regarding transplants, keep in mind an eyebrow is about 250 hair follicles.  So you can use that to estimate how many follicle transplants you’d need.  Best results come from filling in a thinning hairline.  Trying to cover a totally bald scalp is …challenging.  Still not sure how Elon Musk managed it, he was really quite bald in his PayPal days

That's like saying people don't notice hairpieces.

It's always noticeable.

Cosmetic procedures are 9 times out of 10 noticeable.

You may not notice it on a movie screen but up close it looks off.

Nothing I stated is incorrect.

I've had considerable improvements using Minoxidil 5% once a day, and a prostate supplement which includes Saw Palmetto and Pumpkin Seed Oil.

I use the Minoxidil all over the top of the scalp and on the hairline as well, using a dropper which comes with the liquid.

Shaving my hair short also helped absorption of the Minoxidil, without it being wasted in the hair itself.

Shaving my hair short also helped absorption of the Minoxidil, without it being wasted in the hair itself.

This is exactly why I went to grade 1+2 for my hair for the past year - to let the minoxidil soak into the scalp. I'm growing it back to what it was to see the before + after after a year, but will then go with a more sensible length than before. You're right about soaking it in - there's no dapper on my spray but I massage it into the scalp 2x per day it says so I do one after the morning shower and one after the night shower before bed so it's on the scalp for the longest time between washes, if you know what I mean.

What's the brand/name of the prostate supplement? Is that specifically for your hair health and it's a side effect of it?

I'm surprised you don't use the Finasteride. The ED sides are very rare and I've yet to come across one person that gets bad sides from Fin. To me - Finasteride is far easier to deal with as it's a little tablet each morning instead of having to fiddle with sprays.

My older brother went to Turkey 3.5 years ago to have it done and it looks great. Paid $4,000 for it there and it would’ve been $18,000 here. He made a two week trip out of it and spent the same amount.

I started thinning at the front 1.5yrs ago and I told my wife a few months ago to shave my head as I could notice it a lot and was worried I’d be ‘that guy’ who thinks he still has hair lol.

I’ll go out on my own terms thanks. I have an epic beard so I look fine plus I wear a baseball cap 95% of the time so it’s not like anyone saw my hair often.

I’d like to see hairpieces become popular in general. I know they get made fun of but dudes wore them in the 1600s and it’d be awesome to change your colour and style to whatever you want. American black women use weaves (?) correct? I don’t see why other people can’t do the same thing.

Back in the 90s, my buddy paid about 50k over 4 years.  His rationale was that he basically worked a year for free so he could have hair.  Can't tell at all.

He said, I can be fat or bald, but can't be both, and this one is easier.  Then, he got all serious and looked me in the eye and said "but so help me if I knew bald with a goatee was going to be "in" in a few years, I could have saved fifty fucking grand".

Yeah - the scarring would be a worry. I didn't know about the receptors being different @ the crowns. It started on the left crown at first and just expanded towards the right - but also forward. I first noticed it when it had been raining and I went into a shop - looked above at the CCTV monitor showing all the cameras including one right behind my head above - and there was a huge hole in my skull. I was like WTF is going on with my head? LMAO I didn't even buy anything just dropped the basket and drove straight home to look in the mirrror. LOL

Just out of interest - have you noticed any changes with your wife now you're shaven on top? I know they say I love you for who you are - but some people look dramatically different without hair vs with. I'm like you - I wear baseball caps a lot as I'm not really a suit person but when going to a restaurant/bar - it's kind of a given I don't wear it.

This is generally true, scars are mostly a feature of older transplant techniques.

FUE where they extract follicles individually from the back of the head with really small tools as opposed to cutting a whole strip of skin leaves very little scarring

Finasteride kills off your manhood slowly and subtly to the point that it literally turns you into a woman from a biological standpoint. Dangerous stuff.

She said she has to get used to it. I have an epic Viking beard (like the Ragnar style but mine is thicker) and she said all she cares about is my beard so she doesn’t mind the hair going.

Wearing a cap everywhere except to bed it’s not a real change. I wear caps to restaurants sometimes. I dress nice and chuck a nice cap on. I’ve been told with a shaved head I look a lot meaner because of my beard.

A cap has been part of my image for a loooong time so people are used to it. All my work video calls I wear a cap, I’m the only dude that does it. I look better in a cap regardless of hair/no hair.

Why do you wear a cap everywhere?

Is this because you are self-conscious about your lack of hair?

This behavior indicates you have not come to terms with it.

Gray hair makes you look older so if you have a full head of gray hair you look older.

You look younger with a shaved head than with a full head of gray hair.

So, you should dye your hair unless you want to look older.

One thing for sure you can't hide an old face by shaving your grey hair.  Grey hair looks great if you have good hair, hair cut and some product in it. I cut my own hair but when I went to the barber the woman told me how so many younger guys get their hair dyed grey.  If you're in shape with a good face grey hair compliments your looks in so many.

Noticed a little thinning on the top at age 24. Min was around 60 bucks a month back then and hadn't even heard of fin. Had to get minoxidil from the doc back then and he said to save my money. Did nothing for about 10 years. Thinning was getting concerning and min prices were dirt cheap so I started using it. Hopped on fin not too long afterwards. Been using both for around 20 years now. Basically I have a full head of hair with next to no grey. Almost 56 now.

I believe it is the alcohol used as the carrier for the minoxidil itself.  Supposedly oral minoxidil is the new hotness .. even more efficacy than topical minoxidil without the hassle of application

Some thoughts I have on the subject of baldness.

-Men like Dave Palumbo and a plethora of other textbook sad and utterly insecure males who say things like "I look like a criminal when I shave" are simply attempting to cope with layer after layer of self-flattery and unwillingness to face reality. They might simply state that they are ugly motherfuckers; there's no need to add "looking like a criminal" to their ugliness, as if by engaging in such mental acrobatics they are attempting to lessen the damage that fate has dealt them.

-The time in your life when you might be seen as physically appealing and pleasing to the beholder ends definitively when you go bald. It will be in your best interest to acknowledge that fact as soon as possible. Pay attention to other things instead of wasting time convincing yourself that you "still got it" even though you're a bald cuck. Some examples of worthwhile activities include earning money, taking care of your health, mentoring or sponsoring orphans, making great contributions to society, and so on.

-If finasteride, dutasteride, or any other endocrin disruptors that they have developed can be used effectively, by all means, take action if it might delay the inevitable, but be mindful of the potential consequences; there is no getting away with breaking the rules of nature.

-Acknowledge that life is brief and that you will pass away soon. Your hair may seem important, but in the grand scheme of things, you are nothing, and you will be completely forgotten within a few short years at most.

Good luck

Nah, I always hated my hair because it was hard to style how I wanted so I wore a cap. Done it since being a kid, was easier to wear a cap.

I was very self conscious of my hair so I wore a cap. Starting to lose it gave me the excuse to get rid of it which is the opposite of 99% of dudes. I still wear a cap but now when I take it off I’m way more comfortable in general.

Yeah I have similar issues with my hair. It grows thick like horse hair and sticks up all over the place in the morning. No amount of product helps so I just wear caps all the time.

Wearing a tightly pulled down cap or hat during the day actually helped flatten my hair so I'd if I was going out in the evening (lots of places here don't allow entry for people in caps) I'd wear a cap for half a day even if I'm at home on my own.

Yeah, I had a few feet of hair. Chopped it all off. Been growing it back for the last year or so because I can. Started using maxogain 5% recently. No scalp itch or dryness like other brands. Appears to be just as effective. I've read about oral minox but I'm happy with what I'm using now. I only do 1 application per day before bed and 1mg of fin 3x weekly.

If it was the 90s did he get a transplant or plugs? Transplants didn't really come in until the 2000s. I'm not saying you but it's surprising people still don't know the difference between plugs and a transplant.  Plugs looked like awful doll hair. You can't even tell with a transplant other then you know the dude was balding previously

Joe Rogan is one of the most insecure men on the planet. What probably happened is simply that his genetics were so trash, that even hair transplants and finsteride couldn't slow down hairloss. Then he fabricated a manly man story about how suddenly he realized (he never thought about the topic obviously winkwink) that finasteride was hurting his legendary sexual prowess, and being the stallion he is, he couldn't accept that. Finishes off with patting himself on the back for being a "no frills kinda kinda guy" who "just shaved it off, and made no big deal about it like lesser men would" (only after exhausting everything else under the sun from surgery to medicine, just short of wigs) and makes fun of men who have a less than ideally shaped cranium. (declaring himself the genetic elite of the bottom of the barrel genetic wasteland of those afflicted by baldness) I could go on for probably an hour on men like Rogaine, and pick apart his pathetic psyche. But doing so would give him more credit than he is worth.  Pathetic untermensch lowlife piece of shit, the magnitude of his physical inferiority is only superseded by the flaws in his character. The fact that people love him so much tells you that the world is in shambles and we are overdue for an apocalyptic cleansing and renewal of the present world order.

His UFC career was based on his appearance/persona. He gave up before he started podcasting.

Different when you work in a field where your appearance can make or break your career.

Not gonna convince me if he was natty with no hair, he'd have half the fame he currently has.

It's not "for any career", this is where irrationally kicks in.

If your whole life is about appearance and it's only a minor increase to your pay it's beyond pathetic.

Making your whole life about something that you can barely affect is indeed "irrationality", but if you were a 10 you would be lightyears ahead of your present self in most careers

The fact that people love him so much tells you that the world is in shambles and we are overdue for an apocalyptic cleansing and renewal of the present world order.

Tldr; insecure cuck with bottom of the barrel genes performing mental acrobatics

Spot on

Everything about him screams insecurity, don’t blame him being 5’6

If it was the 90s did he get a transplant or plugs? Transplants didn't really come in until the 2000s. I'm not saying you but it's surprising people still don't know the difference between plugs and a transplant.  Plugs looked like awful doll hair. You can't even tell with a transplant other then you know the dude was balding previously

He did Bosley clinic.

It worked.

After my heart attacks I began to lose my hair.  My doctors put it all in perspective for me.  If that is all I lost from what I went through I was ahead of a lot of other folks.

You might be the only person I’ve come across who has a dim view of him as I do.

Many people will treat you as if insulted their best friends or family members if you say you dislike Joe Rogan and Elon Musk.

I think Chris Williamson is a far better podcaster than Joe Rogan.
The average person is the reason why the world is going down in flames.
