Title: S.Ray says Dauda should quit .
Post by: 1Patrick on November 04, 2024, 06:30:05 PM
Retarded statement unless  Dauda has health issues. 600k reasons to defend it .
Jake Wood revealed bump from 400k to 600k right before Bob has announced  the  winner ,so 600k could become even more next year .

600K won't help if you are posing in the cemetery. Ray is right, as usual.

Ray himself competed for many years. Saying he should retire now is ridiculous. He still has a few more prime years ahead. Bodybuilders should mitigate the risks involved but they are not contracted to absorb peoples death fear projections.

Ray competed from being 17 till he retired at 36
Samson is 38, sure hes only been competing a short time compared to Shawn but we all know the drug use these days isnt waht it used to
90s bodybuilders were long retired before 38

If Dauda is aware of any health issues ,doing regular check ups revealing some problems  then yes it is common sense to stop  /Justin Compton comes to mind /.If all is well why stop at the top making money. He will most likely win ASC that is another 500k .

Yes but just quitting because people enjoy thinking your going to drop dead is cowardly.

Samson should milk it until he is financially set, but yes it would be smart to take the health route as soon as possible.

the days of consitancy are long gone
Haney was bang on every show, apart from the tested 90 and they were all off except Benfatto and Christian
Christian looked like he normally did and should have placed higher , it is the old "people get placed because its expected of the judges to do it that way"
Christian is normally around 5th so no matter what thats all hes going to get

Guys today are on so many different diuretics and other drugs its always going to be hit and miss

He dropped off tremendously from 41-42 however, and his best many would argue was 98/99 and 2001 Arnold

BENFATTO benefitted that yr he overhauled his look ,if you see hom in amateur days 86/89 he was big with full dbol/test face huge arms, even legs 'large'but he still had his great shape just bigger.he was carved for that 90 show other than a lolipop look to him big head/hair.compared to his body

Overall, Haney is the all-time greatest Mr. Olympia.

That he dominated almost a full decade and then retired as a young man is phenomenal.

And since then, he has remained a success, both professionally and personally.

I have hung and dined with Lee. He is a fantastic man.

Concerning Ray’s remarks, there’s absolute validity to what he says. Of course, everyone is entitled to do what he wants, but from a prestige and health standpoint, there is little argument against Shawn’s.

I read where he was actually 39 and not 38. Either way he’s not retiring. He’s buying very expensive cars and spending like he’s nowhere near the end of his competition days. Look how many times he’s competed in the last two years alone.  At his age there’s no way to maintain this pace. He won’t be on top long.
Guys today like  to use the excuse of starting bodybuilding later in life as their excuse to blast gear when they’re older. They’ll learn the hard way.

What age did Arnold Stop Competing
about 27 I recall, he could have won 4 more up until 80
Then again he didnt have the competition Haney had, I think his first few Os was just him and Sergio then the overall

Arnold would've won at least 5-6 more Olympias if he'd continued on.

He could only compete against whoever turned up - It didn't stop
him looking Great in each Olympia.

Of course, he would have beaten Robby Waller and Mentzer in the over 200 class and also beat Zane in 77,78,79

A couple things that stand out to me with Samson is his mentality towards competing. He competes alot. And as big man and in 2024, that's something not seen since the 90s. Gotta give the man the respect due. Outside of the way he left Milos, he makes it difficult to not like him.

Imo he should continue to compete in the big shows. Olympia, Arnold and some Sand Show. Get his contracts, guest pose, supplement company and other business ventures. Refine what he has. Imo he should come in a bit lighter for more conditioning. Continuing to focus on his back and biceps. His only legit competition is Andrew Jacked. I personally think Jacked has a higher peak. Anyway,
I see where Shawn is coming from but Samson is just getting started. We're talking  Nigerian Hebrew Genetics. Unmixed. Samson will be fine. He doesn't have a Ronnie run in him at this age but he could get 3 or 4.

I’ve stated no one will ,but Arnold  was closest thing to Lee :7 Sandows and retired at 33. /born 1947 and last win  in 1980/

Samson is smart.
He does not limit himself to being Mr. Olympia but takes money and pleasure wherever he can.
Despite his age, he always seeks to progress, to understand why he lost and will bring something better next time.
In short, he is uninhibited about the Olympia, about the number of competitions he will do each year and will go for the biggest checks where they are.

Yes - only Arnold would've improved.

On Arnold's 76 shape / condition it would've been a good match up.

P.S. Any joy with your Man yet ????

Haney retired on his own terms and in good health. Seemed to have his head screwed on and family priorities in order, too. Maybe not the most charismatic and mentioned O, but definitely my favourite. Just the perfect proportions and size.

In 86 he was called out for one comparison and then stood at the back of the stage for the rest of the pre-judging
Thats called dominating a line up

Solid post, Wiggs. He's in a good position to get himself set for life and make some bank. Go for next year, health permitting. I not a big fan of Andrew Jacked, tbh. What's your opinion on Bumstead trying to gear up for the open class? I just can't see it. He should have tried doing that 3, 4 years ago; not now

Bodybuilding is his occupation and he's currently art the height of his earning capacity, after spending decades getting to that point, whether he chooses to retire or continue is his decision alone as ultimately it is he who's health will fail or he who will ultimately benefit financially from continuing to risk it.  Basically Shaun should shut the fack up.
