Our dear getbig content usurper got his feelings hurt, when the blood bank rejected his donation. Dave first claims he has his blood thicker due to TRT and wanted to get rid of some blood to normalize that.
So,, instead of paying a procedure to get rid of it, he thought it would be a good idea to poison others in need. What a magnificent soul. ::)
-
Imagine if they had a program where you get to meet your donor while receiving their blood transfusion and Dave walks in?

If he gets a doctors RX then he can receive phlebotomy treatments. They just won’t use the blood for anyone and just discard it. He should know this.
-
they wont let you donate if you have had injections full stop
-
It’s right there on the intake questions, “have you used a needle” they’re not going to risk it.
-
If he was truthful with the quesstionairre he wouldnt have been able to donate
I donate , they test your blood anyway and sepearate it in a centrifuge and seperate the red, white and platelets
It gets screened before it gets used
-

You can’t donate. But you can have phlebotomy. They just dispose of it.

you have to pay for that
Privately here it costs about £50
If you have Polycythemia vera, you can get it on the NHS

Actually the question is :
Have you used or injected any drugs or medication not prescribed by your doctor?
There is another one that is :
In the last six months have you had any accidental needle sticks.
That’s how it is on our system and the parties we purchase from (OneBlood)

If your doctor prescribes it you can take the form anywhere and have phlebotomy drawn for free. Up to every seven days until your number is under 46. (For HRT patients)
There is no charge. This is Florida that I am referring to. I do not know about other states.
-
I had the same situation twice. They sent me away because the blood was too thick. When I started taking aspirin baby, everything went back to normal and I actually don't have to donate blood at all

Give it up Dave, its like dressing up a turd, it matters not...

Oh. I have no idea what their regulations are like. But in US Dave shouldn’t have had a problem.

This is true. Those lines in his face are so deep and looks like an 80s AIDS victim. And that hair looks like black styrofoam

Once upon a time he had an impressive physique, but it’s not surprising they turned him down for blood donation. You don’t need to be a medical professional to see that he looks decidedly unhealthy. At this point I think a Vampire would pass on him. :-\

LOL, what a freak. Hilarious that he was running around every clinic while panicked and looking like a corpse screaming 'get this fucking poison out of me before I die', and now he's trying to spin it as he just wanted to do a good deed. Dave's blood test probably looked like The Thing.

x2. Totally delusional to paint himself as some sort of do gooder/victim. He made choices. Choices have consequences. No one wants his "thick" blood.

I believe it's a screenshot from one of Palumbo videos. I think they are real.

I wonder if Dave listened to “Paint It Black” during his 8 hour flight while seated in coach
-
Dave is medically knowledgeable enough, why didn’t he just get a tube and needle and do it himself?

Not a good idea , if you hapen to pass out during you can bleed to death
-
It’s right there on the intake questions, “have you used a needle” they’re not going to risk it.
It asks if you’ve used a needle to inject drugs or steroids not prescribed by a doctor. My TRT has never disqualified me, I’m donating Friday and it will be almost my fourth gallon since I’ve been doing it.

Here in Portugal even medical procedures like a colonoscopy will stop you from donating for 4 months.

You can’t donate here if you have gotten a piercing or tattoo in the last six months.
Donate that is. But you can still have your phlebotomy as frequent as every seven days if your doctor prescribes it.
In the US they can not refuse a doctor order. They can refuse to use the blood but they can’t refuse to take it if your hematocrit is over what the doctor has indicated on your RX form. (Usually 46)

I think the calls to donate blood on TRT are unfounded I have never donated blood
“Thickened blood, or increased blood viscosity, can occur as a side effect of injectable testosterone because it can stimulate an increase in red blood cell production, leading to elevated hematocrit and hemoglobin levels. Here’s how this could impact blood pressure, heart rate, and other vitals:
1. Blood Pressure:
• Increased blood thickness makes it harder for blood to flow through the vessels, which can increase vascular resistance and, in turn, raise blood pressure.
• This may be especially noticeable if someone already has borderline or high blood pressure before starting testosterone therapy.
2. Heart Rate:
• The heart may need to work harder to pump thicker blood, which can sometimes result in a higher resting heart rate.
• In some cases, the heart may experience more strain, leading to an increased risk of cardiovascular issues over time if the blood viscosity remains elevated.
3. Other Symptoms:
• Headaches and dizziness: Thicker blood can reduce oxygen delivery to certain areas, potentially leading to headaches or lightheadedness.
• Fatigue: Increased blood viscosity can limit how efficiently oxygen is delivered to tissues, which may cause feelings of fatigue or sluggishness.
• Red or flushed appearance: Higher hematocrit levels can lead to a flushed or ruddy complexion.
• Shortness of breath: Reduced oxygen circulation can sometimes make breathing feel more labored.
4. Potential Risks:
• Risk of blood clots: Elevated red blood cell counts can increase the risk of clotting, which can lead to conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism, or stroke.
• Thrombosis: The higher clotting risk can strain the cardiovascular system, and over time, thick blood can lead to complications, especially in arteries or veins prone to blockage.”

You are lucky. After i donate, i have to slow motion everything for some hours. And eat a nice steak.

Some say it feels like it takes weeks to feel good after a phlebotomy, so experiences vary. Some find it hard to restore iron levels, can take months.
From my readings it seems high red blood cells aren't necessarily dangerous (within limits) and blood donation hasn't actually been shown to reduce any incidences of CV problems which were the result of TRT (not enough data obviously). Some bodybuilding "experts" advice to do testing on whether you have a blood clotting disorder, which most aren't aware of without testing. One supplement they highly recommend juicers use to prevent clots is Nattokinase. One way to reduce red blood cells is eating one red grapefruit each day. My friend tried this and his values did come down, hard to say if it was due to the grape. My friend also paid a nurse to take out blood, many juicers used her illegal business lol, but these guys didn't even check their values before hand. I said it was idiotic.

I always feel better after donating, not doing what I used to do when competing supplement wise so now not so much.
I used to start feeling lethargic and stuffy headed, I do normally have a high RBC count anyway

It is a secondary cause (the steroids) so all the literature will say to treat the underlying cause of it. And bodybuilders aren't going to stop taking steroids. So, you're right there isn't enough data and probably won't be. I think it is better to take an aspirin (81 mg) because it is better studied than the nattokinase. I think blood donation is reasonable. The symptoms from the high blood counts can be nonspecific. Some people get funny itching or burning, headaches, vision changes with the high blood counts and don't realize it was the high blood counts causing it until they donate the blood and the symptoms improve. Of course, if you aren't checking labs before and after and just guessing at values that complicates things further.
