Travelling the world without any health insurance. What a bright idea. So now they want other people to pay for his stupidity and arrogance. F him.
-
Kaz is a douche. They were asking for 30 or 40K.
Now his kid bumped it to 100K.
The clown has no money??? ::)
Many years of massive drug use caught up to the moron...
Ive been around him when there are no camera's running. And the guy is just miserable... Fake..

At least he was big and strong.

Heart surgeries, including pacemaker, ablation, etc. at the Phillipines heart center. Not saying he is being treated here but it's a respected hospital
Open heart surgery at the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) in Quezon City, Philippines typically costs between ₱600,000 and ₱900,000. The cost depends on the type of surgery and whether the patient is in a private or ward plan.
₱900,000=$15,338 US dollars
Perhaps he has some other type of issue or cost so I don't know and I'm not really interested enough to do a deep dive. I am not claiming any fraud, this is just G and O and I'm sure anyone with a gofundme would encourage people to verify legitimacy. Hope the guy is ok.

Flashback to when Kaz got caught chasing young Asian powerlifting tail -
https://www.instagram.com/p/BvgXximhMOT/?img_index=1 .
https://www.instagram.com/p/BxFV57MB3SH/ .
She deleted a lot of it, but Kaz went out kinda sad. He got progressively more anger filled and whiny as it became clear she wasn't interested.
Many Filipinos do love Kaz though, he used to go around the islands coaching, etc....
-
I found Kaz’s voice very soothing during the chaos of the WSM (sponsored by Met-Rx)

The gofundme -
https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-bill-kazmaiers-lifesaving-surgery ,
It's real, and a lot of strength heavyweights have been donating and pushing it. That said, Kaz patting himself on the back pretty hard in the side panel.

I don’t understand how someone like this, who had a modicum of success in the powerlifting and supplement world, is broke and doesn’t have health insurance. I mean, I suppose it’s just like the sports players who are broke three years after retirement, but even that I don’t get. ???
-
At least he didn’t fall into a pool and die like Art Atwood did

He's 71 years old. Why isn't he on medicare? Plus, he could add a supplemental insurance for less than $200 month. Hope he pulls through but he should really get treated for his retardation.
-
Enjoy the journey.

I was gonna mention this. He should be able to put this on a credit card if he’s having it done in the Philippines. I once had an MRI on my hip at Manila doctors hospital and it was only like 350$ usd. Medical care there is actually good and cheap if you go to the right place and you have cash.
Didn’t Kaz stalk some fitness chick a while back? I’ve never heard anything good about him, seems like he just pretty much an asshole.
-
I have hung with him and found him friendly, if not a bit out there.
Best wishes to this true legend of strength.
Won’t be donating, though.
His family and friends can do that.

He most certainly has shitty credit.

Why wouldn’t he be broke? Last i checked he didn’t have any type of gainful employment. Same with health insurance - where would he get health insurance from?I was gonna mention this. 100% it’s a scam, only America fucks over people for daring to seek medical treatment

In the Philippines? ??? Be serious
Oh yeah, he'd have to fly back to America.
-
I live in the Philippines and they won't perform any treatment without proof of insurance or cash paid up front. They also won't let you leave the hospital until any outstanding balance is paid in full. They have guards at all the exits to prevent you leaving. They don't fuck around.
A good insurance policy for expats here is Pacific Cross. It would run him around $150 a month.

I guess what I’m saying is that at 71 he should have planned better and socked something away for his final years.

Surprised to hear so many nasty and unsympathetic comments here. Shame on you all who are kicking this legend when he is down. None of you cowards would dare say anything like that to his face, and he would have destroyed any of you in a powerlifting contest at his peak. Show some respect to the man.

If I ever crossed paths with Kazmeier, I would bend him over and rape him until he was moaning like a whore
How’s that for “respect” ya filthy animal
-
He spends most of his time in England living in Darren Sadler's converted garage. Been doing this for many years. He performs commentary at the Giants Live events in return for the free rent of the garage but he has no money and is a Grifter. The only time he makes money is when he commentates for CBS under IMG at worlds strongest man and then he goes off and blows the money in the Philippines.

Now this is good gossip.
Will the World's Strongest Man go out as the World's saddest?
(This is sad for me, every year it's more "Don't meet (or learn about)" your heroes type moments with him :(.)

He first went to the Philippines in 2018 as CBS commentator. He loved how cheap things were and has been going back ever since. One day he was out sightseeing with Brian Shaw, Rob Kearney and Robert Oberst in a taxi and didn't like the driver. He was actually suggesting turning the guys cab on it's side. This caused the 3 American competitors to give him dog's abuse for his behaviour and he lost all respect that day.

Seems like a real degenerate with the accountability level of Sir Bhankins.
Was pretty good on TV from what I remember.
-
Like I say, he treated me with kindness and respect, and showed the same to everyone around him, as well.
Yes, he’s slightly loopy, but whatever.
Kaz is one of the all-time legends of strength, power and muscle.
When we hung, I had Coan with me, as well, and there was some serious chuckles to be had. At one point, Kaz was chirping Greg Kovacs to essentially put up or shut up in either a powerlifting meet or strongman contest.
It was all in good fun.
All the best to Bill.

Some great updates from getbiggers with the inside scoop in this thread.

Here’s a defense of the gofundme based on how the US health care system works. I don’t know why he was in the Philippines (live there, traveling?) but regardless Medicare, Medicare supplement, and Medicaid DO NOT pay for health care overseas. You need a special out-of-country temporary policy which most of us do not purchase when traveling (unlike Europeans who usually /often buy them). Most of us would be in the same boat as him.
But he certainly probably could use a credit card. But that is on him.

Kaz is a moron. Respect? Why cause he was a strong lifter??
Dudes a PoS.
F**k Kaz... A loser at life...

I don't follow the logic here. Kaz has been living in the Philippines, or at least visiting there frequently for long periods of time, for a while. He elected to not buy the option under his insurance coverage that extends the coverage to that situation, which is like $200 per month.
I would certainly not be in that same boat but I'm also not so piss-poor that $200/mo for life-and-death stuff is a barrier.
Most people don't buy this for brief one-off trips but people who frequently/constantly out of the country quite often have it.
-
Kaz has failed at everything he tried to do post WSM. Failed gyms and businesses, nasty divorce, got caught trying to groom a young
female lifter a couple years back, etc... Epic tard... :D

I don’t disagree with you. People who are going for extended stays are fools not to think about this (especially at age 71). But if his home state is Alabama, there is no such thing as an “option” under his Medicare, Medicare supplement, or Medicaid. It takes an extra step of calling or going online to a specialized travel or expat travel carrier. Most of us never think to take that extra step (not defending, just saying). Thus the logic of the gofundme.

I wonder if Bill regrets turning down the opportunity Mr. Joe Weirder gave him to compete in the bodybuilding world? I wonder if he would still be in this mess if he took the chance to compete.
Also is are going to point out all his faults I would like to remind everyone Kaz could never beat Lex Lugar for the WCW championship and he wasn’t that great of a tag team partner to Rick Steiner.

Actually I'm surprised that he lived this long before his heart started to quit. He has been juicing for decades, and lifting extremely heavy, and at a high bodyweight.
Must have been the cheap pinay girls there keeping him fit.

That rubbed me the wrong way as well. It smacks of greed and insults everyone who donated to meet the original goal, which ostensibly reflected genuine need. And why doesn’t a grown man have health insurance at this stage of his life… after being in front of cameras for so many years? Where did all his income go?

How dare you ask such personal questions when he’s asking for donations to save his life!
Who are you asking for a financial accounting of his funds, his life is on the line and he needs money.
Side note I think I read he still owns, or at least runs, a gym.

Surprised by nasty comments? You must be new around here. ;D
I actually like what little I knew of Kaz (photos and video clips), but destroying me, or anyone else, in a powerlifting contest is not an accomplishment in life. You know what is? Being able to pay for your own health care without becoming a public beggar. Yeah, I can do that. 8)
When I croak, my heirs will get $4-7 million (depending on market conditions) divided among them and disbursed over several years. Any guesses what Kaz’s heirs will get? Some WSM trophies I suppose… and bragging rights about how strong their dad was. Personally I’d prefer the cash. :-X

SWAT Gym of Opelika, AL. He hasn't had that one or the earlier one in maybe 15 years. SWAT had the ugliest colors imaginable. It was supposed to be camo, but it came out various colors of pea green and baby shit browns.
He also had a small import / export business for a bit, DynaKaz of Opelika that did ok for a bit, but is gone too.
Years ago, he had a job with Auburn university, and just stayed down there afterward.
I won't dox his old house, but it was very modest. Odd guy to figure out.

Just thinking about it in the late 90s early 2000s Kaz had a deal with Met-Rx. I remember the commercial he referenced 70 rep sets.
A national tv commercial had to be a very lucrative deal!

Always good to see what the owner of supplements companies look like. Buyers hoped to look like Kazmaier, but at best would resemble Scott Connelly:

I am the person with money to donate—or not. Before I give money obvious questions must be answered or my wallet stays closed. Mary Lou Retton pulled this same stunt a while back. http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=571805.msg10105388#msg10105388
About a year before she went begging to the public she sold her 9000 sq ft mansion in Texas for several million dollars! How many of her donors have that kind of money? ::)

As you are aware, selling a property for X dollars does not mean that the seller pockets X dollars. Asking for help to pay medical bills isn’t really what I would call a “stunt” either.

No one selling a 9000sq ft house for millions will ever get a donation from me. Likewise no one who has bragged about being the strongest man in the world and presumably earning the dollars that go with that title (purse winnings, endorsements, etc) is getting my donations either. You are welcome to disagree and open your wallet for Kaz… but I caution you… after meeting the $40k goal they jacked it up to $100k looking for more suckers—I mean donors—to give. ::)

Poor MaryLou, she probably had to sell the house to pay those medical bills. This champion is likely living in a 4000 sq ft shack living hand to mouth because Bay won’t cover her medical bills. Such a sad story.
It’s not Mary Lou’s fault she never received financial training while she devoted her youth to bringing glory to our country.
I wonder if her name holds any value in the sports memorabilia autograph circuit, or if she could teach gymnastics courses to raise money?

Yes, you’ve already stated that she sold her 9000sqft house for millions of dollars. You’ve also previously stated that you wouldn’t be donating. No need to repeat it for a third time.
I’ll ask my question to you again, as you failed to acknowledge it: You understand that the price a property sells for, and the price that the seller receives are different sums of money, yes? I would have thought you knew this but you keep referencing the selling price of the house as if it bears any relevance to her wealth

PV do you think Mary Lou lost money on the sale of the house? Or she was upside down and had to take a loss?
I think Bays point was she should have some resources based on the sale.
But I think Bays larger point was that those in the “limelight” are often better off than the “fans” of said person, and the money grabs are disgusting. I think it was wrestler Scott Hall who had a go fund me for a surgery and he sent autographed merch to those who donated.
It’s likely Kaz wasn’t wealthy but he probably did okay. Asking for help isn’t wrong and neither is changing the amount asked for but they do have a responsibility to keep their donators informed of the process.
-
Poor MaryLou, she probably had to sell the house to pay those medical bills. This champion is likely living in a 4000 sq ft shack living hand to mouth because Bay won’t cover her medical bills. Such a sad story.
It’s not Mary Lou’s fault she never received financial training while she devoted her youth to bringing glory to our country.
I wonder if her name holds any value in the sports memorabilia autograph circuit, or if she could teach gymnastics courses to raise money?
;D ;D
I recall that ML Retton sold her house one or two years before her medical dramas unfolded and in her defense it was her daughter who set up the gofundme; nevertheless it is unseemly that someone with such a high profile and millions in endorsement deals would end up begging the public for money to cover her healthcare costs or otherwise be without insurance. Kaz is in the same envelope... globetrotting at 71 with no health coverage? Shamefully bad choices in life. >:(

Quite a few World Strongest Man competitors have died (relatively) young. I couldn't find a list online, must be somewhere, or a video.
Anyone participating in such sports should try to get the best medical insurance they can get.

What did Katz see in the fat Asian he stalked... must have been desperate or very hungary...

No idea if this list is worth anything. If they really understood health I don’t think most would stay in it very long.
* Jon Pall Sigmarsson: A multiple-time World's Strongest Man champion, Sigmarsson died of a heart attack in 1993 at the age of 32.
* Mike Jenkins: A highly regarded strongman competitor, Jenkins died in 2013 at the age of 31 from an enlarged heart, suspected to be caused by long-term steroid use.
* Geoff Capes: A two-time World's Strongest Man champion, Capes also achieved success as a shot putter. He passed away in 2024 at the age of 75.

Bad life choices—like traveling abroad without health insurance at 71– makes you wonder why anyone would look up to this “champion” much less donate their money to him. WTF has he been doing with his money and life to end up in this situation?

Geoff Capes only made it to 75? He should have lived to be 76 according to census data!
These guys are passing way to soon.

When I was in college there was a dude named Johnny Perry who was dominating the qualifiers and died before getting to the big show, IIRC. He was 27 when he passed I think.

Sigmarsson was the most entertaining competitor ever in that contest. I think he knew he would die young and didn't give a shit.

Some actually get quite old, but that extreme lifestyle must be damaging for their health:

He's the reason I got into strongman and powerlifting.
His son claims Jon knew he had a heart condition and would die young, and that's why he was the way he was.
Not sure if that is true or just trying to build on his legend.
Either way JPS had a crazy life and loved what he did it seemed.

Good every day physiques. Huge without being overly huge….easy to maintain on minimal doses yada yada yada

Competed as a bodybuilder as well.

They started by asking for $40k… as they neared that goal they raised it to $100,000. They have now raised $141,248! Any guesses what happens to the money if Kaz (god forbid) croaks? :-*

I think it's time to rent hospital beds and open some accounts - creative writer may be a lucrative job opportunity...

The intense light pulverized my eyes and foreskin(in realtime) and now I find myself a war veteran without a third leg to stand on.
