Hen culling started in 2022 under Biden. So far, something like a 100,000,000 birds were killed between 2022 and 2024. It's going to take a while for that to sort out. Perhaps DOGE should look into the great egg crisis of 2025 :).

He did? I saw him say he had to get energy prices down first, which would then roll into lower production and shipping costs, which would lower prices.

Have I failed to mention that I get a dozen farm fresh eggs for $2.00 ?
OK OK.....I`m done....put the guns away! ;D

No i think Lurker is right, Trumps campaign was based on lowering egg prices.

So your dementia patient Biden killed the majority of egg laying hens because of an imaginary Bird Flu so there is a supply / demand problem and its Trumps fault????? People like you are the problem bro ::)
-

Well then they should have required that the chickens get vaccinated if they wanted to keep their jobs, wear masks, and not peck within six feet of each other.

Trump is currently president, no? Stop making excuses for your elected officials and start holding them accountable.
When egg prices were high under Biden, it was his responsibility. Now that Trump is president, he is responsible for it. If he doesn’t like it, he shouldn’t have run for president. Pretty simple.
-
This is the thing: no matter what, no president and its voters will take responsibility for anything.
With any president and its voters/supporters, anything that goes wrong is the other sides fault. Anything that goes right, is due to their side.
Effectively, making any president/voters/supporters 100% perfect who never ever make a mistake.
Odd, last time I checked, people make mistakes all the time. Presidents (democrat or republican) must be immune to making mistakes.
I really just want a president, any president, who can be humble and vulnerable enough to admit when they are wrong.

Yes this. Unfortunately never will happen. As all presidents are full of shit con men.

Yes, it’s a true eggistential crisis. You are aware that those inflation numbers would obviously be for the prior president if someone was measuring for that, right?

What economic levers could he have pulled to drive egg prices down in his first month in office.

any president that can :
sack 10K employees;
get the silicon tech bros to bend their knees:
organize a cease fire in Gaza:
cajole the overwhelming majority of Republican Senators & Congressmen to do what he wants:
and already owns 2/3 of the Supreme Court:......
should have no difficulty controlling the price of eggs if he really wanted to.

I’m not sure he could. I guess he could offer a subsidy to the farmers to keep prices low, but then some greedy fucking asshole would just jack the pricing up on the end user anyway.
He probably just shouldn’t have said that he’d work on lowering the prices on eggs, because now it’s expected immediately.

Explain what they would do - tell private businesses what they can charge? Put a cap on egg prices and force losses? Subsidize eggs? How would that play out with the right?
You're conflating things things that aren't correlated -because you can trim gov't waste doesn't mean you can control the free market.

You must really love eggs to pay that much for a dozen.

You're dumb to pay that much for a dozen eggs.
I would just not eat eggs for awhile.
Costco still holding at 7.59 for two dozen.

Here is the truth about egg prices!
-
You must really love eggs to pay that much for a dozen.
That`s just corporate greed.....I`d be good and godamned if I would ever pay that for eggs. :(
-
He did? I saw him say he had to get energy prices down first, which would then roll into lower production and shipping costs, which would lower prices.
No, no.
In August 2024, then-candidate former President Donald Trump delivered a press conference surrounded by packaged foods, meats, produce, condiments, milk and eggs.
“When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on Day One,” he said at the time.
Trump promised to lower egg prices on ‘day one.’ Now his administration admits there’s no ‘silver bullet’
During the campaign, President Donald Trump pledged to bring grocery and egg prices on “day one.”
Trump pledged to bring down food prices on Day One. Instead, eggs are getting more expensive
-
So your dementia patient Biden killed the majority of egg laying hens because of an imaginary Bird Flu so there is a supply / demand problem and its Trumps fault????? People like you are the problem bro ::)
He did? Where did that occur? If the imaginary Bird Flu isn't real then how could it possibly be documented at this point? If it isn't real then why a vaccine being developed? The federal government granted animal health company Zoetis a conditional license for its avian influenza vaccine for use in chickens as bird flu outbreaks continue to devastate flocks across the country, affecting the nation’s egg supply.
If the Bird Flu isn't real then I guess the increase in egg price is all Trumpys fault.
You might want to try again. This attempt didn't work out so well for you.

^^ Completely irrelevant responses. While accurate and true, it doesn't change the fact that El Orange-O said DAY ONE. And the rubes believed him and parroted him. You know... the "morons". Once again you fell for his utter bullshit and lies.
This is what happens when you run on fluff and a "concept of a plan".

I didn't ever believe prices would fall day one. In fact, I thought it would take a least a year.
Seeing what you typed shows Trump did say that at some point. The question I have is did he say that before the bird flu caused the supply issue or after?
I DID see what I said at a Town Hall - someone asked how he would lower prices, and he said it would start with energy costs, and could take awhile. So, I'm not denying what he said, but the timing of vs what I saw at the Town Hall.

This is a good point, he lied about eggs. That was a huge reason I voted for him and I don’t even eat eggs. But it should be an American right for cheap eggs.
Has he done anything worthwhile this last month?

I listed three reasons to his question of why.
His conclusion from those reasons was it was a lie.
I didn't get how you would infer that from the three reasons, except maybe from point one of him being a politician. I do believe Trump actually believes some of the more outrageous stuff he says. So in this case, I think he thought he could drop prices day one.
But I really don't care what he thinks, just what he does.
So in summary, I did not expect his election would result in instant lower prices, so I'm not upset. I did recognize that dumbasses might believe it though, and that the media would use it as a talking point to try to undermine the admin. So, it's mostly going as I expected.

Can we get an impeachment started because he lied about egg prices? That’s the issue that got Biden kicked out of office.

He couldn't do it. And he knew it. Just like the other claims he made this time and last time.
But your statement "If someone believes something, is it a lie?" is dubious at best. That is right up there with "the truth isn't the truth" and "alternative facts" claims. Some people believe the Earth is flat and spend time telling others that. Is that a lie?

I can't find the article but one extremely smart, from what I could tell lol, leftist wrote a substack about debating "conspiracy theorists." He said unless you are familiar with the minutia of their theories you will always lose a debate with them, so don't even start. Of course losing doesn't mean being in the wrong, but these guys may have studied the theories for decades and will bury you with facts that you have no response to. You can basically just appeal to authority :D
Don't get me wrong, some conspiracy theories have been proven correct. Most are baloney but I read them for fun.

I highly suggest listening to the matyrmade podcast 3 part series on Epstein. It's on spotify.
It looks at it from that angle of how something so horrific could exist in today's society. Then it shows throughout history how it's always been permitted.

I suggest the following political theme for the Dems in 2028:
"A chicken in every pot!"
-
My son has a dozen chickens in a pen that measures about 8x10. He lives in a rural location. They lay about 10+ eggs a day at peak season. They eat just about anything he puts in the cage. Quite amazing actually.
After amortizing the cost of the cage and purchase of the chickens he is probably spending about 10 cents an egg.

Bought some yesterday.

I’ve got a guy that works for me who has chickens and sells them for $5 dozen. They can sit a while because he doesn’t refrigerate them. I think I pay about that or $5.99 for organic eggs at the store but I’m not really sure as I don’t really look at the food prices. Probably should tho.

You don't look at the price when you buy groceries?
Do you look at the price when you buy gas for your car? I heard of people who don't.
I see them buying gas at stations that charge way more than one right nearby.
Gasoline is the same wherever you buy it as it all comes from the same pipe except for minor fuel additives which some stations put in it but are in no case worth the price difference.

The price difference is affected by local cost of operations more than anything. That's why you often see low prices 10+ miles away from metro areas. You are only looking at the wholesale cost.

Sure, I understand that but I'm referring to stations within one block and one is charging 10-20 cents more per gallon.
These are major brand stations also. In my area Exxon and Shell are usually more than Valero for example.
All these stations get supplied from the same pipeline.
WaWa is one that is always more than others right across the road.
Some people don't care about paying more for the same thing.
Some people are brand loyal and believe a certain brand of gas is better than others.

I guess I don’t really think about it. I’m not rich by any means, but there’s money in the account to pay bills so I don’t really check. I buy groceries probably once out of every ten times, my wife does that. I was shocked about the price of bacon, shit did get expensive for center cut.
As far as gas. I don’t use it, I use diesel. I have fuel tanks at my shop for my trucks so I just pump there and if I have to use a card to buy it on the road I go to whatever is most convenient. I’m not turning left to go into a gas station. So first available that’s not a dump, and on the right hand side, I’m pulling in. 😂

I rarely look at prices when I buy groceries. I tend to buy the same things each time and there is not a huge fluctuation in prices. I know what I want and just put it in the cart. How many times should I look at the price of milk? Either way, there are certain things I’m going to need for daily use. The same with gas—I mean, how much different is it going to be down the road? I just use the first gas station I come across.
