I'm hearing of something called the "double bear paw honey hole lick". I have no idea what that is, but it sounds exotic.

response, and then structure… that's the game.

the entire ‘sport/industry' is a grifting lie.. like most things on earth.

hard work, dedication, sacrifice, pushing limits, going hungry its not literally all drugs.

oh it really is, all those things are minor parts of the whole.
pro bodybuilding is 90% drugs

You can train as hard as you can , eat well, make sacrifices but without the drugs its not happening.
I have been doing it over 40 years, I know from experience what it takes

Just look at how the pros deflate once they retire, well, the ones that stop juicing that is.

I remember how you shrank a few years back when you stopped, soon came back though, its because of the drugs, its not just an extra half dozen eggs and some deadlifts.
Title: Re: CBum downsized like a MoFo !!

Just because they deflate it does not mean therefore it was "all drugs" surely your wiser than that.
Title: Re: CBum downsized like a MoFo !!
Post by: Van_Bilderass on April 10, 2025, 05:39:40 PM
You need a bunch of things but without the genetics the drugs don't matter much either. You could even have a great drug response but if the structure isn't there, the long bellies aren't there, the number of fibers are few and the wrong type, you're going nowhere quick, no matter what. But it's hard to put percentages on all of the factors. Also, as Mentzer used to say, you can only properly judge the genetics in retrospect, gotta try and see, though some things you can see even in an untrained body, such as skeletal structure and muscle bellies, to a degree. One thing is for sure, you could probably bring someone to pro level in 1.5-2 years if everything is done perfectly from the start, assuming the genetics allow it. It's fast. Guys cycled and wasted lots of time in the past, and experimenting by themselves.

Of course it’s mainly drugs. All the will and hard work and sacrifice won’t get anyone looking like an IFBB pro without drugs. However, with a great genetics response to drugs, one can look massive with little hard hard work and minimal dedication.

Dorian lived the lifestyle
Cormier lived a hedonistic lifestyle
Both looked incredible

Some people eat shit go clubbing and train half assed yet still look incredible because of the drugs.

The fact that people can go from pro bodybuilder to looking perfectly normal and back to pro bodybuilder again in six months proves that you are not really "building anything"

Just look how much Krizo shrank after his shoulder surgery to where he is now, he lost about 60lbs in 3 months.

Levrone, went from skinny fat to back on the Olympia stage in less than 6 months

The story of Flex turning up at Golds 215 out of shape and literally changing by the day to get back to 225 stage ready in a few weeks

The drugs are not just the finishing touch, they are the foundations

Dorian was Mr Olympia, Cormier was not.

Of course your building muscle. Hormones are central but the work has to go in.

you have the same amount of muscle fibres now than when you dropped all the size a few years ago.
So no, you are not building anything, you are simply expanding and stretching the ones you have.

Once you have had the size (previously stretched and expanded the fibres) 3 months back training and a course of gear will you have you back where you were previously.

Regained size is always much faster than new size.

Same way that if you dropped the drugs now and stopped eating all the food you would end up back at 190lbs.

Not to forget, you also need lots of protein to make it ;D

Actually, that's not a joke. For all the talk of people massively and needlessly overeating protein, how it's just a scam by supp companies, all the big fellas eat plenty of it, including BigRo. Eating below the RDA for non-bodybuilders is not going to cut it. I know I'm in the minority here, but it's just like my opinion, man 8)

My posts tend to get too long but I just want to also mention that trained nutritionists and physicians and scientists, who are anti-supplement mostly, all still stress the importance of hitting the protein RDA for seniors, for example, to stave off muscle and bone loss as you age. I'm contrarian and a dissident on a lot of things but not all.

CBum hasn't trained upper body in three months thinking stem cells/snake oil will miraculously cure his damaged shoulder. If this fool would have had surgery three months ago he would be nearly healed. Fouad is just as bad, had stem cell treatments thinking they would cure his torn tricep and heal his drug ravaged kidneys.

Yeah I know. But guys here were saying 50 grams is all you need and such. Just thinking logically, if stressing the body and trying to add muscle, hopefully, the amount should go up. It's not a perfect conversion either, where each extra gram ingested goes to muscle growth. Some cultures eat a lot of protein though, 70 grams was said to be the average amount in an American dinner in that one protein study I posted :D
Some people though tend to not like protein foods much, eating mostly cereals, starches, fruits, milk products perhaps upset their stomachs, so may need reminding. Also if eating vegetarian the amount should go up by 25% to account for the lack of essential aminos, and getting the RDA from a veg diet is challenging.

I would say the shitty diets and shitty training is somewhat exaggerated. Also the stories of wild partying and excesses may be exaggerated for a good story too. Some can also stay up late sniffing cocaine yet still show up early in the gym to put in the work, sometimes, or oftentimes. Many can be addicts and still be perfect with everything else. Many said Dorian too was addicted to Nubain at one point, like most everyone else, and it's not hard to imagine especially considering his later druggy lifestyle. Cormier was inclining 4 plates and I remember reading he was the strongest pro at Gold's at some point. That isn't by total accident, even with great genetics and lots of drugs. I have personally seen bodybuilders who are very regimented on everything bodybuilding also use lots of rec drugs. Nasser said the Nubain users trained like grandmoms while others claimed it helped them train much harder because they didn't feel pain. Titus was said to have been a cocaine addict even before he turned pro and I in particular remember being amazed reading that he was supposedly doing 400lb pulldowns, more than the reporter in MMI magazine had ever seen anyone else do. Just to say some could be hard partyers and psycho trainers at the same time 8)

I know. Some expect the "pros" to "go to war," like it's supposed to be something extraordinary to justify them being pros. They train like amateur bodybuilders and sometimes natural noncompetitors train much "harder." I think the distinction between amateur and pro is a bit silly in the first place, one just had a nicer structure, better genes or sometimes is actually a worse bb than the amateur, just showed up somewhere where the comp wasn't that great that day. I have my own perception of "hard," some, even here, think Dorian trained like a pussy. One set per exercise, not even any forced reps? Pathetic. Were they much weaker than yourself? Did you push harder? I assume you're a natural and maybe don't aspire to be a "bb" in the first place, but still?

One example from my life. My training partner was belittling a mutual friend who is an advanced bb and said he "never trained hard." My perception was a bit different, I said, "I know he plays on his phone a lot and talks to everyone, but look at how he bangs out sets of squats with 500lbs, curls 160lbs barbells and so on, much better than we can do, can you really say he never trains hard? Plus he's been in the gym consistently 5-6 days a week for years and years with no breaks. And don't forget the diet, he eats well consistently and we eat wtf we want and miss meals all the time. Plus he does cardio each morning year round which we don't give a shit about."

My perception was a bit different, I said, "I know he plays on his phone a lot and talks to everyone, but look at how he bangs out sets of squats with 500lbs, curls 160lbs barbells and so on, much better than we can do, can you really say he never trains hard? Plus he's been in the gym consistently 5-6 days a week for years and years with no breaks. And don't forget the diet, he eats well consistently and we eat wtf we want and miss meals all the time. Plus he does cardio each morning year round which we don't give a shit about."

Dorian trained enough to get the job done
Could he have trained harder, yes, definitly, he could have done giant sets and drop sets but he didnt need to.
His claim of no one training harder than him was a bit silly, he would have gassed out doing giant sets with Milos

When I lived in Los Angeles for a year I often trained in the original golds. I actually saw how a lot of these pros trained when the cameras were off. Utter laziness.
I still have a PM from Chris Aceto who I know from back in the day in good old Springfield (you remember good old Springfield I`m sure, though you may wish to forget it).....anyway, Chris told me the pros he trained were wussy compared to how we trained in Spfld. back in the day.

If you didn`t overtrain, (we knew no better at the time and we`re animalastic in the gym) you got no respect.

The gay ass miracle bear shouldn’t be getting bigger as it doesn’t suit him. He looks like an idiot.

He's f*ing massive at this point! Reminiscent of a prime Markus Ruhl in his jeans jacket. Must be close to 300 pds right now :o

Yes. Doesn't match his frame. He should rebrand himself Miracle fox.

Yes. Depends a bit on how you define hard and intensity as well, the approach to each set is different with each method. With giant sets you can't do each individual set as hard and perfect or you'd burn out after one workout, just wouldn't be sustainable. Chris Cormier doing hacks with Yates, he didn't even want to go all out on that one set, imagine doing several subsequent sets immediately. And I don't think someone like Chris could be called a total bum in the gym.

But that's just just my perspective, perhaps others would breeze through a couple of rounds of giant sets at this "intensity." I never could. Fuck, if I could do one single squat type movement for one set like this each week I was happy.

Dorian was Mr Olympia, Cormier was not.

Of course your building muscle. Hormones are central but the work has to go in.

LOL what separated Dorian from Chris? Lifestyle? So Chris was a 3rd place finisher instead of number 1?

Also Dorian was Mr Olympia when the reigning champion did not lose.

I haven't watched Jay train on video much, but was it much different from his videos?

Not even close. Looks chubby and shoulders about a foot shy in width of ruhls. It’s not an impressive size in clothes. Looks like a chubby dork.

Dorian always pushes people way harder than he trained himself
