Rarely you see a picture or a video of Zane appearance at the 1975 Mr. Olympia .
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the contest which was the main focus for the Pumping Iron film ...
Frank Zane Training, arrival to South Africa as well as entire posing routine was filmed by the crew.
According to Robby Robinson, Zane was offered $200 for the right to use his imposing image but he asked to be removed from the production.
I don't know, for the 50th anniversary would be cool if they release the remastered high definition of Zane entire participation.

Zane has said that everyone was told this was going to be a movie documentary about bodybuilding. So no one was paid for their appearance- or they received minimal compensation. Zane said he could see very early on that it was going to be structured mostly around Arnold and then everyone found out that Arnold was being paid A LOT more than everyone else. Everyone was pissed but still wanted their chance at stardom so played nice. Zane said 'fuck it' and focused on some other business venture during the filming of PI. He said he definitely was not in his best shape.
I think Zane is a little bit of a bullshitter and as he's grown old he comes across a little bitter in some of his interviews. He's the only peer who I ever heard talk shit about Dickerson.
In all reality, Zane really doesn't come across as charismatic and he wasn't in shape so his footage was cut. He was set up to take over after Arnold and Franco. He was given opportunities, TV appearances, commercials, the art gallery exhibition etc... I doubt that he truly sensed any bias back then. I think its what he tells himself now.

Respectfully disagree. I mean, Arnold had his priorities and he was his own No 1 priority. He had a plan for bodybuilding and after that acting and after that politics. Arnold began making his Hollywood connections strategically and eventually used Butler & Gaines to further his own career and I the process put bodybuilding in the spotlight.
None of those guys want to admit it but without Arnolds ambition they never would've had a spotlight outside of the small world of bodybuilding. Yeah, Arnold hogged the attention and the money but without him there would be no 'attention'. As far as the money goes, he should've recieved more, again it was his connections that made it possible.

Zane saw himself and Arnold as rivals in bodybuilding.
The reality was that Arnold was superior to Zane. No contest.
Except for when Arnold first came over and was unpolished, Zane could never beat him.
Why would Zane do Pumping Iron and be overshown by Arnold?
Zane only won his Olympias after Arnold retired.
Then in '80 Arnold comes back and wins again, showing Zane who's number one
It's no wonder Zane doesn't like Arnold.
Zane is an Alpha and won't take shit from Arnold.

Arnold was mega-massive back in the day, while Zane relied on sculpted muscle and rippedness to get jaws to drop.
In fact, one of Arnold’s only losses was at the 1968 IFBB Mr. Universe when Zane beat him due to conditioning.
Even Vince Gironda called Arnold a fat fuck ...
