Darn good bodybuilder in his day.
He's still kicking on youtube.

I'm an absolute supp/drug nerd and remembered this little thing, perhaps uninteresting for most but I would have liked to talk to this MrYouAreSoDumb (genius level fella actually) about this offline because this just can't be correct, something's being missed here :D
Tongkat Ali is just a herbal supp.

I looked up some of the research on Tongkat Ali- and it is quite the chemical warehouse. Many natural substances are incredible in their composition- I worked for 3 years in a pharma startup as a research chemist and we were developing applications for the Indian Gooseberry.
Goofy name but a chemical factory. One compound, chebulinic acid, can regrow hair. Ive seen the clinical study.

People dismiss herbs as if they can't contain the most powerful drugs/chemicals.
I'm just skeptical Tongkat can raise test to that degree in an old man with long term suppression of the HPTA. It's interesting though but trying to figure out what was actually going on would require more testing. I can't recall the reason but Tongkat is banned in Europe. That poster on Reddit owns a supp company out of Arizona and it seems like he really knows his shit wrt analytical testing of herbs and so on. I mean I can't really judge like you could but he impressed me because a while back a hundred supp companies were selling "Turkesterone" (from Turkestanica Ajuga plant) and this guy came out and said NONE were selling actual Turkesterone! They didn't know what testing was actually needed, the different types of methods, to confirm the plant plus actives and so on. He said when pressed the Chinese said they either didn't know what they were selling either or knew it was something else. The supp industry is dirty as hell and even the honest players can get fooled.
Just in case you have time to waste and feel like skimming this, does this guy know what

That’s too high. Why would you take something that would make it that high? My doc has told me he wants me up to 900-1,000 from my 700 and I told him I’m not interested in having testosterone levels at the rate of an 18 year old. 2,000 is nuts.

Yeah that's a separate discussion, it would just be interesting if anything could raise endogenous production to that degree in such a subject. Others only note a relatively small but perhaps significant increase.
There's a huckster HRT doc on IG who says every male should strive for 2,000 test as that is optimal. Do you just want to get by and nap on the weekends or do you want to get up above the clouds? :D
Check it out:

If you are below 1,000 naturally you should consider HRT haha

I can't find the picture online but I remember Dreher winning (?) or placing high in a NABBA (?) show maybe during the time the IFBB guys were coming in really shredded and not so big. He had the scariest skeleton face! Nothing but a skull and no face. Yikes!

People dismiss herbs as if they can't contain the most powerful drugs/chemicals.
I'm just skeptical Tongkat can raise test to that degree in an old man with long term suppression of the HPTA. Just in case you have time to waste and feel like skimming this, does this guy know what
he's talking about? If I'm not mistaken he's not a chemist or a scientist himself but learned along the way when he started selling nootropic drugs and research chemicals way back (and was busted by the Feds). Now no more grey area stuff.
The guy in the vid has a lot of equipment, but you can buy everything he described for about $2M max. On the surface he is correct- you use HPLC and GC-mass spec to analyze and separate drugs we. The spectrophotometers he showed- UV/Vis and FTIR are used throughout analytical chemistry- nothing fancy there.
i see they are located in Tempe, AZ. Not exactly a pharma hot spot unless you are involved in the cartels. You will find most legit pharmaceutical operations are located in clusters because of the logistical support and talent pool needed. It is a very expensive business.
They say they provide a certificate of analysis for their products. As long as it matches the lot number on the bottle, its legit. Lots of times companies give you a "typical COA" meaning it was done on a batch a while back. If you can guarantee traceability using an outside auditor then you are the real deal.
As far as being CGMP certified, that's meaningless. You self certify CGMP- meaning the company does it internally. I was involved in the CGMP process at the startup. I actually certified the equipment and that's all boiler plate.
The ISO certification is real but you need that to manufacture supplements anyway. It doesn't guarantee purity - it just means you document your processes.
The pharma company I worked for as late as August 2025 burned through 15 million on just one product - and they still haven't been able to come to market. They have all the equipment pictured in Notropics vid. In fact a lot more, as I specced, bought and actually installed all the pharma grade manufacturing equipment!
So my take is Notropics Depot is a reseller with a lot of bells and whistles to convince you they are better. Unless they absolutely guarantee their products with a lot number based certificate of analysis, they are no different than Amazon.

Lance didn't have the greatest pecs and his waist was wade/blocky but his arms were crazy. No other real weak points and had excellent conditioning.
Him and Belknap were rivals iirc. Both looked great but were never fairly judged in the ifbb.

Like I said I'm not a chemist so I'm only going by feeling based on how this company comes across on for example Reddit. I'd love to get your opinion on this company, I'll see if I can find some reference posts showing what I mean. I don't want to get fooled by a slick talker LOL. The turkesterone was and is not sold by them but they showed none of the several dozen companies claiming to sell it were even selling the correct plant. They claim to have found out their ecdysterone product actually contains more turkesterone than the so called turkesterones on the market. They say they have analyzed Tongcat Ali products on the market and it's a total shitshow.
They claim they utilize several third party labs for verification and I think they claim to have developed their own extracts and consulted with other companies on their extracts as well, on analytical methods and whatnot, for example wrt Ashwagandha. I think Shoden Ashwagandha was codeveloped by them and I think there has been some collaboration on Sensoril. I think Sensoril and KSM 66 are the market leaders.
Another interesting thing is that they say Thorne is the only brand that hasn't ever failed any of their testing, other generally quality brands have had bad products here and there. Thorne of course is very expensive. I guess you get what you pay for, sometimes.
The claimed partner labs

Van,
Have you ever considered living your life without drugs?
How many drugs do you use daily? Serious question. Rx ones and include any possible "supplements."
I think you're quite bit older than me so I think it's probably unlikely you live a drug free life.
"Typical Americans aged 65 and older use an average of 4.3 prescription medications, and more than 40% take five or more prescription drugs regularly—a condition known as polypharmacy"
Any alcohol use at all? Alcohol is one drug I don't use, I remember back in 2006 I had 2 glasses of wine, nothing since; had my first glass of wine in 1998 night before the only bb comp I did. Not much in between.

Any alcohol use at all? Alcohol is one drug I don't use, I remember back in 2006 I had 2 glasses of wine, nothing since; had my first glass of wine in 1998 night before the only bb comp I did. Not much in between.
Alcohol is the only drug I use but just a little.

How many drugs do you use daily? Serious question. Rx ones and include any possible "supplements."

I'm an American, over 50, and take zero prescription drugs, outside of during an illness or post surgery. No alcohol, no rec drugs, no smoking, very little if any caffeine. No PEDs even though I was a competitive cyclist at the national level
I know lots of people just like me, but I hang around a lot of endurance athletes. I have a 76 year old friend who still cycles daily and is only on glaucoma medication. That's what regular exercise does for you.
But if you don't exercise, have a shitty lifestyle, eat garbage - yeah, I can see how you would be prone to prescription medications, especially since my MD friends tell me about all the incentives big pharma gives them to prescribe shit.

68 years old. Just a couple mugs of coffee each day and standard vitamins.
One or two shots of hard liquor a week.
I realize that is highly unusual for someone at any age nowadays.

Good. Then there is the type who should be taking his medications the doc prescribes but for example won't take the metformin for his type 2 diabetes because they "forget" or it's too much of chore. And some have a phobia of going to the doc at all. You're not one of these, just saying.

Great. Nothing wrong with a couple of shots of a rec drug here and there haha.
But to your original question, if they seem to improve life parameters I see nothing wrong with better living through chemistry. It's of course easy too fool oneself so it requires real honesty. One parameters could be that you neglect your commitments or that relationships suffer. Some feel drugs are inherently evil at all times but I'm not one of them.
Bodybuilding related: Tom Platz said a cigar and some whiskey was very therapeutic after hard leg workouts.

What's the gist? Was he placed last because he wouldn't suck the hebrew cock or take it up the old highway?

Or maybe he did both and just wasn't good at it.
