Bob, this crap has gone far enough with Kamali and his threats. It's about time the Federation and the Rep (you) start running this half Assad organization like a professional organization. I say hold any "athlete" ::) (oh brother) accountable that is under contract with the IFBB and that would continue to give the IFBB and bodybuilding alike a bad reputation....anotherwor ds, like any franchise or league in just about any sport, DECIPLINE THE "ATHLETE" for his or her actions that would be detrimental to the organization itself.
If you want to play like the big boys NFL, MLB, NBA even the PGA, etc the you have to act like the big boys by fines, suspensions, etc and that includes holding them to a high moral standard. I don't really blame anyone except the organizations that let their "athletes" get away with such actions like your boy Kamali has done and I'm defiantly not just pointing the finger at him, but anyone who is a detriment to the industry. Bottom line......there needs to be some sort of a high moral industry (no threats, no riskay photoshoots, no calling out a judge, etc,etc you get the point) standard and fines to be set. This industry is a total laughing stock and no one wants to do anything about it.
BTW, this should go for the PDI and any sponsor who represents an "athlete" !!
-
Sniff, sniff.
I smell libel/defamation, hopefully Kamali won't read this thread and forward it to his lawyers and have you in prison for the next 5 years after he sues you and takes away your house.

I heard 240 or bust hates jesus!!!!!

It's not just about Kamali, it's about trying to bring a little decency to screwed a up Federation, besides, Kamali's too stupid to make such a move!

I heard 240 or bust hates jesus!!!!!
I heard he blew up the world trade center, AND created smallpox!!!
I even heard he forced weedouttheweak to take that infamous pic with Jay Cutler...

Bob is there to defend the athletes. It is not his duty to stand up to King for the internet trashtalkers. Get your own internet-pencilnecks representative to stand up for you
-
I'm not legal consul for IFBB pro's...they are free to use their rights to do whatever they wish...suing included.
If King wishes to bring a libel/slander suit against Rob...thats his choice. The minute Rob decided he wanted to be a "public figure" like the rest of us pro's on here who post under our real names...he forfeited the right to remain anonymous....He's in the same boat we are as far as I'm concerned.
Now he can be held accountable for his actions...He better hope King doesn't have a summons slapped on him, as he would have to hire a lawyer, etc.....King has a unlimited resource to bring an action...I know Rob doesn't. With a business that pays him minimum wage, and a baby on the way...I'm not so sure Rob can afford to defend himself and spend thousands of dollars on a defense. King can..
Oh well....be careful what you wish for, you just may get it.

Maybe the IFBB should discipline Kamali, maybe they shouldn't. I haven't checked on how his actions on PBB would interfere with his IFBB contract.
But regardless if he deserves to be disciplined...
I know one thing: The Athlete Rep should not do it. He/she should be a support of the bodybuilder, helping to create a balance between IFBB and the bodybuilders. It's not the role of the Athlete Rep to discipline BBs.

You need to not take this stuff so seriously. I know you have a hard on for King but come on. ::) Personally I think this whole thing is funny and it doesn't not affect my "other life" ;D because I do not let it. That simple. King laughs his ass off about all this stuff and the great thing is, no matter what, you guys will always make sure he is the most popular guy on Getbig.

would have to hire a lawyer, etc.....King has a unlimited resource to bring an action...
Why, does tamali still get weekly allowance money from his mommy?
-
and what would tamali's claim be? specifically.
-
I actually had to agree with quite a bit of what King had to say. Sure, he goes a little berzerk when it comes to 240, and that makes him look bad. He was probably right when he said he had to stay away from the boards so that people wouldn't drive him nuts. I hate for him to not post on the boards though, he definitely keeps it entertaining.

Both Bob and yourself are missing the point of this subject, it's not just about Kamali or suing, it's about holding the "athletes" to a higher standard. If Kamali wants to sue, fine, it's his prerogative, but when things get out of hand and it becomes a detriment to the industry (inappropriate posing, threats to another athlete, official or otherwise etc, etc) the Federation or sponsor should discipline that particular "athlete", just about all sports franchises and leagues do it and for the most part it does keep the athletes in line....the IFBB and PDI should do the same.

I love this. So King would waste significant money/time/effort to sue Rob who has little to no money? Ok so say even if King is successful, which is unlikely, the court would give nominal damages. Or in the event they don't King would be unlikely to see any money anyway. You can't sue a straw person

I'd bury my $ in the garden, declare bankruptcy and send a nice check to CHOC in King's name :)
-
King is an idiot. It is extremely difficult to sue someone for libel. Pretty much everything 240 has said on this board would be protected by the First Amendment. People make malicious and defamatory statements all the time without having to worry about being sued for libel.

Rob isn't a public figure and never will be. He's a loser that makes ugly websites and punks guys who shouldn't give a flippin S about a word he says but yet you fall for his antics time and time again. You should be ashamed of yourself.
If Klown whatever even filed a frivoulous claim against Rob, he & his attorney would be sanctioned to no end and it wouldn't matter what Rob spent because the court would get it back to him and then some. If the frivoulous plaintiff couldn't come up with the cash then the defendant, 240, would be able to put a lien on his home to secure the court's order. Cool huh? That's how bogus lawsuits work in America... how dare you.

Yeah I hear ya on that one but Muscletech will probably give him a raise and hire the bozo giving legal critique in this thread. Must've learned a lot about the law transfering prisoners from cell to cell and telling drunks it was time to go home now..

THE "ATHLETE" for his or her actions that would be detrimental to the organization itself. Bottom line......there needs to be some sort of a high moral industry (no threats, no riskay photoshoots, no calling out a judge, etc,etc you get the point) standard and fines to be set.
Well - hence the situation. Kamali and other bodybuilders can do whatever they want, and have fun on the boards, in magazine articles, at the expo. So can others. But the sport is like the WWE, like many other sports in which you can yell and scream and complaing or like your favorite player in the sport, and have fan pages on them, or fan pages against them.
Now, as for photoshoots, calling out a judge, etc, these are a little different. If someone can get a lot of money for photoshoots (whether they are gay or not), then it happens. We may not like it, but there is money to be made. The same goes for porn shoots. People do not like it, but it is a 10 billion dollar industry. Same with nudity.
Can you imagine the uproar with Hollywood's actresses actually made movies that showed nudity in it. Wow - there would be an uproar. Wait a minute, doesnt that happen like in almost every R-rated movie. Get over that.
Now calling out a judge is different. You want to ask why you didnt place well, no problem. You want to yell, scream, and hit a judge - you are gone
-
Bob made the IFBB's position very clear about what will happen to Lee & Vince when they do the NOC. They are breaking an IFBB rule, and he assured us that there are NO EXCEPTIONS made for athletes who break the IFBB's rules. Fair enough.
My Q is, what does the IFBB rulebook say about professional conduct? I know there are several top IFBB ladies who do pornographic movies, as well as other IFBB guys who do carry themselves in society in a less than professional manner.
Bob, will the IFBB only be selectively enforcing the rulebook this fall?
And to the legal minds around here- does lee have a case? Pretend Lee sues the IFBB for banning him from the O. He says that X does porn or Y threatened someone with assault. Both violations of the same rulebook punishing lee. Can a nonprofit org selectievly enforce its rules? I'm serious here, I don't know.
-
thats about the damn truth this kind of thing is why the PDI came about anyway
support the PDI
-
I even said this to Lee himself.
With his record of being the most fined athlete with the IFBB he would be the ideal candidate for the IFBB to discipline and show the others that even one of the top guys are not exempt from the rules. It would be easy to claim after all his fines and warnings this was the next logical step. Then they can issue a few statements or notes of disciplinary action to others whom the feel need to "toe the line" a little more ie Denise Masino. But in their graciousness they could easily give the athletes time to discuss revisions to the rules to be more fair and help the athletes make a better living for themselves. If they so desired the IFBB could use the few who do step on the PDI stage as scapegoats and make themselves look better in court.
I wouldn't put it past them and I support the IFBB.
-
Guys are still going to be in great shape come O time. They all qualified for a reason ;)
They're going to stand at the side of the stage and ask why they can't compete.
They'll be informed that they broke IFBB rules. They will look around and see 40 other athletes who also broke IFBB rules.
The fans will wonder why they can't see a fan favorite from the 90s (vince) and today (lee).
We'll wonder too.
-
Simple - some rules are more relevant than others. Like here on Getbig. I take racism, malicious bashing, and other issue more than some others. Same with the IFBB. Jumping and competing in another federation is the number one violation. What you do on your own time is something different. You either promote the IFBB or not. Whether you and I like that issue is mute, you don't need to join the IFBB, it is on a yearly basis whether you renew it or not.
-

Keep the porn in the porn industry and the bodybuilding in the bodybuilding industry...simple as that. If a pro is caught doing porn or posing in provocative positions fine and suspend them, clean up the industry and make it more appealing and legit. As for actors and actresses, you cannot compare that to the bodybuilding industry and believe it or not SAG and AFTRA also have an guidelines that the actors have to follow. If your going to call bodybuilding a "sport" then treat it as such.......HOLD THE "ATHLETES" ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS!

Are Titus & Ryan suspended from the IFBB?
Cause if not, that would mean that standing on DeMilia's stage is, in their book, worse than burning your own car with a torture victim inside then bragging about it to your friends. Allegedly. Oh, and MSNBC won't be covering the 'Priest Saga'.

Or how about shows that obviously lost money due to poor attendance and lack of sponsorship money yet the promoters tell everyone how successful it was and that everyone was happy and they've signed two more years to give the illusion it will 100% happen in the next two years.

I just looked at those pics. I thought you were making fun. That was great. The NOC is always entertaining. But this year it will take entertainment in BB to a whole new level.

Ah Keith, I know I can always count on you with a good Shawn Ray jab.
If a show used a facility that only held 1,500, the promoters could have said it sold out too, as we all know you will chime in and say this about the NOC after the show.
You should be more concerned about what you've attached your name to and help it get sponsors vs worrying about a show that already took place. :o

Titus and Ryan haven't been actually convicted of a anything yet. I thought it was innocent until proven guilty in the US. Trial by media seems to be the new American way.
When and IF Lee steps on the NOC stage he with have proven himself in comtempt of the IFBB rules. Titus and Ryan have yet to have that shown.

I don't have my IFBB rulebook handy. is there something in there about embarassing the sport? I don't know how it is in other sports, but many companies will kindly *allow* you to take a leave of absense after you're caught on walmart cameras buying kerosene which ended up burning a car full of personal assistant 30 minutes later...

I was thinking a little about this the other day,
Particularly about Bob's idea of how the professional athlete is/should be treated.
It came to me that Bob was talking shit. Normally I don't think Bob talks all that much shit but he got it wrong when he suggested that shittalking does not happen in other sports. Thats a hilarious idea. Go to any sport game with a ball and you'll be overcome by the haters. There are haters everywhere. Most of the crowd are haters. They're biased, they don't see sense and basically they want you to get your head knocked off if you are not on their team. :)
Perhaps Bob is unaware of the multitudes of soccer players who have received death threats due to their performances or the players who have actually been killed as a result. When you compare that to this lowly board where people make a few jibes here it puts it in perspective. ::)
I'm not endorsing some of the things said here, I'm just pointing out oh humble "iron warrior" that if you're getting your knickers in a twist over some text you certainly wouldn't have the mettle to stand on a field and cop people talking about your race/wife/looks etc from the sidelines.
Still, there is always the Eric Cantona method...

Shit, I've never seen that. Yes, definatly hold the promoters accountable, there's kids in the audiance and even one on stage!!!!!!!!!!
After seeing that, to help keep the industry legit, I think the promotors should run their production plans through the IFBB before going on with the show. Surely there has to be someone in the IFBB with some morals that can make decisions reguarding production. Hell, Jim Manion has kids....ask him if he would want his children watching something like that!!
-
I am glad Barry Bonds doesn't have to put up with the abuse that pro BBers do!
-
Dear Friends
Kind regards
Sportsmen and women are doing what most of us dream of and when they don't give 100% we have a right to be fucked off.
Death threats may be a bit much but surely that wouild encourage sports stars to try harder?
Yours thankfully

Wow, words don't really do this justice.
Now you know why I bitch so much about ethics in bodybuilding and why the mainstream or even most of the fans themselves don't take this industry seriously. I took my kid to the Ironman thinking he would see what a professional bodybuilding show was like, needless to say I didn't expect Rodney St. Cloud and Kai Green doing a gay chippindales skit!!
-
I think the IFBB and its "athletes" rep should hold their athletes accountable, but how would you even begin to do that. Unlike most other sports, the shady characters are the norm and the ones running things, not the minority. Its a sport that accepts and is supported by heavy drug use, gay for pay, and snake oil supplement companies. Most of the athletes promote an unhealthy lifestyle and lack any kind of charisma, talent, or potential for mainstream endorsements and fans.
Bob's just a company man, who lacks any real authority to enact change. Thats not completely his fault either, its the nature of his industry, most bber's won't step up to support any action he would take. However, he should make a push for IFBB pro's to conduct themselves in a professional manner. King made himself look like a fool, which is something many pro's do and it only makes the sport and IFBB look bad. My guess is that King will stay quiet/off the boards for a while, he knows he made an ass of himself. I highly doubt he has a PI on Rob, and his lawsuit claims are pure bs.

Well,
I'm not going to tell you how to raise your son...
But look at it this way:
Better for him to see that shit when you were there to explain what the hellz was going on (yeah, like you COULD.. LOL), than for him to come across it by accident on his own.
Don't have any regrets bro. Seems like you're a cool dad, trying to do the right thing.

I think the IFBB and its "athletes" rep should hold their athletes accountable, but how would you even begin to do that.
Simple, You sanction and/or suspend the "athlete" and if they refuse to comply or have re-occuring incedinces, then set higher boundries such as a ban for 6mos, 1 year or 2 years from competing or guest posing at an NPC event or whatever plus sanctions. If they want to appeal, then the Federation must form an appeals board.
-
If the IFBB followed their own rules that they setup there would be no bodybuilders left to compete. Those rules were placed to satisfy the legal part of setting up the Federation. They basically don't mean a thing unless they chose to enforce them.
-
Keep the porn in the porn industry and the bodybuilding in the bodybuilding industry...simple as that. If your going to call bodybuilding a "sport" then treat it as such.......HOLD THE "ATHLETES" ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS!
oh, lets create of board of censorship. why dont you move to iran or cuba where they have rules like that?
-
What they do on stage is one thing.
What they do off stage is another.
The only problem is that IFBB has been holding double standards for so long. A bodybuilder shouldn't have to deal with someone telling him or her to disclose his/her sexuality.
In regards to doing porn and such, they should absolutely be allowed to such things. But do not bring anything like that on a bodybuilding stage.
The NYC show was a total disgrace. A low mark in BB.
Competitive bodybuilding, male or female, isn't supposed to be sexy. It's supposed to be impressive.

From the procedural standpoint it would be easy to enforce, but I was looking at the same way onlyme is......if they decided to enforce the rules there would be no bodybuilders left, they would all be suspended and it would be the end of the IFBB.

I didn't realize that "bigbumbbell" was literally your real name, I just thought it was your board name.......... :-\!
Anyway, then I guess you could say the same for any professional sports league or franchise!!

Of course details would have to be worked out, but trust me, there would be plenty of bodybuilders left, it's an ego driven industry and these guys love to show off, also if they want to be called "professional", then they should act "professional" just like when a ball player gets into the bigs, they are EXPECTED to follow a professional code of conduct and when they don't, they get fined and/or suspended...the difference between pro's and amatures!

Next time, stay home and watch the dvd..........

Bodybuilding has NO rules ron, it is total chaos. "Athletes" are allowed to do whatever they wish (including severe drug abuse, spousal violence etc.. etc.. etc...)
The "RULE" that athletes can not compete in any league they wish is just an invention by the weiders to protect their dwindling empire.
