There are several other Marines who I serve with that their parents are/were illegal immigrants. Both my Father and Mother got their green cards and eventually became naturalized citizens of the United States. My Mother worked as a Nurse for 16 years, at a boarding care home who specialized in taking care of vets from WW II and vietnam. So before you start to bash illegal immigrants, keep in mind that not all of them are on welfare or looking for a handout. Many of them are hard workers and just looking for an opportunity to succed and thrive in the American dream

I do think they should tighten the borders, and make the flow more organized and legal, but I don't think anyone should have to leave, felons excluded.
Those 10-12M immigrants make up much of the foundation of the economy. Without em, nearly all of our wages would go down, as ppl doing menial labor would suddenly be paid $20 an hour instead of 8, and they'd demand benefits, etc. Watch the price of a lot of things you love go up, and the wage you bring home go down, as employers have to put more resources in lower jobs. It really would even out the wage discrepencies a bit, but it would suck for most of us!
But yeah, you should be able to beat - with a tire iron - anyone who wrecks your car and leaves the scene cause they're illegal.

You cannot deport 11 million people, it's impossible, just don't let anymore in without LEGAL documents, and the one's that are here when they commit criminal acts, then send them back with no possibility of returning after they serve their prison sentance!

O.K Then let us just let everybody in. Why should Mexicans have it easier then let's say Nigerians, or Cambodians? Just because we share a border with Mexico, should not give Mexicans the right to leapfrog everybody else in the world who is applying for work visa's, and citizenship legally. Your parents entered this country illegally, they broke the law. The same laws that you, a Marine is supposed to honor and uphold, but instead, you condone your parents lawbreaking by laughably justifying it with their jobs, your birth, and now your service in the armed forces. What about the couple that lives in impovershed conditions in sub-Saharan Africa, or the couple that is oppressed in an Asian nation? They want so bad to come here and live, and start a family, just like your parents did, but they can't because there is an ocean in the way, and they can't walk here, and they don't have the $ to conspire with a "coyote" to get them here. There is something to be said about the millions of people that have gone about the "immigration system" LEGALLY, and they shouldn't be passed up by the cheaters, who have broken the law, and sneaked in. Hey it's great about you being a Marine, and it's great about your mom, but it was all initiated by an illegal act, perpetrated by your parents.

i have no idea why this has never been mentioned. people will cry and all, and there will be a few fireworks shows, sure. But the problem will be solved almost immediately. Wow, Fogarty, I don't know where you get your info from, but you should definitely have your 5 star Expert rating stripped away. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, Mexico is far and away the clear cut leader as far as immigrant growth, with over 6 times the amount of immigrants more than runner up, China/Hong Kong/Taiwan. The study goes on to say that half of the immigration growth in the U.S is illegal, and primarily from MEXICO. This big uproar that we are hearing about in the Senate, and in Congress, and from the White House over immigration reform is due to an overabundance of MEXICANS illegally entering this country, not because of the Italians, or the Swedish, or the Turks.....IT"S THE MEXICANS. For you to say or insinuate that it is not, or that Mexican illegals are a minor part of this problem is absurd. Now, what are you an expert on?

You're a Marine and that's fantastic. Way to give back to your country by serving her.
However... illegal immigrants are a slap in the face to every single immigrant that does it right and plays by the rules. Your parents may be good people and work hard but it doesn't make what they did right- it just makes a whole lot of people wrong.

Is it fair that some Mexican border hops and is granted amnesty? Is it fair that a large parcentage of people that are on public housing and welfare are illegal hispanics?
You can make the arguement that they contribute a lot to this country, but so do immigrants that came here the legal way, so that's a totally bogus arguement.
I also love how the hispanics are trying to tie in the illegal immigration issue with immigration in general. lol
And the pro-illegal immigration rallies they hold are stupid as well, wow, no better way to show that you love America by waving a Mexican flag.

I think that is one of the biggest misconceptions about illegal immigrants. They are "draining" the system. I can't say I've known ONE Illegal, who is doing so. Not one. All the people I have known to "drain" the system were citizens. Born here. Lazy good ole USA scumbags.

This will shock you, but it's a fact: An estimated 25-30% of all prisoners in the US are illegal immigrants. Do you understand what that means? Americans are being taxed to fund the cost of housing, feeding, entertaining, and guarding one in four prisoners who don't even belong in this country.

We obviously cant deport 15 million people. But they should NEVER be made citizen (unless they agree to serve in the armed forces for a period). NEVER. And I dunno how you can make the arguement that they're vital to our economy, immigrants in general will work for little money and very long hours. I know several immigrants that came here legally and they work 60-70 hours a week without overtime pay, they are Mexican, African, Asian and I've got nothing but respect and love for them. They are living the American Dream. But I can't support people that break the law and just march in across the border with no respect for a country's laws.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there
are a few things that those
who have recently come to
our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a
multicultural community
has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we
have our own culture, our
own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.
We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part
of our society, learn the language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women,
on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it
on the walls of our schools. If God
offends you, then I suggest you
consider another part of the world as
your new home, because God is part
of our culture.
If Stars and Stripes offend you, or
you don't like Uncle Sam, then you
should seriously consider a move
to another part of this planet. We

Exactly! He's taking about two completely different issues, and mixing them as though they were one. I agree with him on the first part of his argument, that immigrants need to assimilate and adopt our language and cultural norms, and that we should reject "multiculturalism".
He completely goes off the reservation with the second part, though. I am not religious, and do not believe in a god, and I'm a white American whose family has been here for over half a dozen generations. Our country was NOT founded on the Christian religion, it was in fact founded as a secular nation (see the first amendment). All the "God" mottos, pledges, etc were added in the 1950's as a reaction to the "Communist scare".

Do I really need to explain this? Mexicans talked about boycotting american products so that ignorant people in the U.S. realize how much mexicans consume and to show how much of an economic power they are, this is obious. As for your Tijuana comment. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Tijuana has a population of 1.5 million (300k of that population being from many other immigrants from other countries most notably China, U.S. and middle eastern countries) American companies have a lot of businesses set up in Tijuana. The population of Mexico is 107 million. So how does everyone live in Tijuana? ??? You've probably never been to Mexico have you? I don't consider border cities real mexican cities. Most border cities are very ugly and cause a bad impression on united state citizens because for some reason they think this is what Mexico is about which is very ignorant to think.
Just look at the world factbook or many other sites about who importers and exporters are. There you will see who the United States import and export partners are. Also look at mexico's import and export partners. Look at the facts and figures. Mexico buys from the U.S. with the same money that people living and working in the U.S. send home. Also, look at the Mexico's GDP which just entered the trillion dollar class. Mexico is not a poor country just doesn't have enough opportunity for the outlying towns and indigenous minorities that live away from the big metropolisis cities that's why it's considered a developing country because of those outlying towns and small cities. So, in effect these are the people that try to pursue a better life in the U.S.just like in all countries.
Educated people that know how the world operates know this, only the ignorant do not. Also, the only people against illegal mexican immigration are the losers. Any smart semi-wealthy business person appreciates the job that low wage immigrant workers provide.

This fence is an insult to Mexico because Mexico does its part stopping drug trafficking and also deporting illegals from other countries trying to illegaly cross into the U.S. A much better solution is to work with the mexican government. They don't want to get rid of their people you would know this if you went to mexico for a week or two, the mexican government is constantly putting up commercials and the like to inform the dangers of crossing the border and dying. The mexican governments tells its people to stay and not risk their lives in crossing the border. The poorer class decides to do it anyways since they hear of the opportunities being offered and risk it all. The only way to stop this is to not employ them and they won't come as simple as that.
Putting up armed soldiers with gun batteries would surely solve a lot of problems. ::) Building a fence is an incredible waste of money that will get us into more debt with China. China is who owns this the U.S. and Mexico now. This immigration debate is just to distract U.S. citizens from the true problem of being at war.

Most border cities are very ugly and cause a bad impression on united state citizens because for some reason they think this is what Mexico is about which is very ignorant to think.
Just look at the world factbook or many other sites about who importers and exporters are. There you will see who the United States import and export partners are. Also look at mexico's import and export partners. Look at the facts and figures. Mexico buys from the U.S. with the same money that people living and working in the U.S. send home. Also, look at the Mexico's GDP which just entered the trillion dollar class. Mexico is not a poor country just doesn't have enough opportunity for the outlying towns and indigenous minorities that live away from the big metropolisis cities that's why it's considered a developing country because of those outlying towns and small cities. So, in effect these are the people that try to pursue a better life in the U.S.just like in all countries.
Educated people that know how the world operates know this, only the ignorant do not. Also, the only people against illegal mexican immigration are the losers. Any smart semi-wealthy business person appreciates the job that low wage immigrant workers provide.
