I want to know what the perfect job is for a bodybuilder. I want to know this is because the job I have right now, is very physically demanding. I would like to put all that energy that I put into my job into the gym. I'm really seriously thinking about becoming a physical trainer, would that be the right move. If it is the right move, what do they start salary whys a personal trainer with two certifications. Does it matter how many certifications you have?

an independant personal trainer can make a lot more once you build up a client base. but if you're sick you don't get paid, if you go on vacation you don't get paid, holiday no pay. if your client is sick you don't get paid, if your client goes on vacation you don't get paid. your clients often have regular jobs, so that means you're working early in the morning, then again late at night. you also have to pay for your own liability insurance and health insurance. there's no retirement plan either.
so the perfect job would be one where you sit in an office for 8 hours a day and get paid a nice salary with benefits

Straight porno performer, you'll make plenty of money and still have time train and eat right. Remember to take at least a month off between 3 month juice cycles so you don't become a wet noodle on camera. The only catch is you'll have to move to LA to do this full time.

I hate those dudes, they always check my bag like I am some criminal. Its usually some handicapped guy at the Wal mart near me, so I feel bad and don't say a word(I DO realize it is their job). But sometimes I just want to buy my shaving cream, razors, etc. and get the fuck out of there.

Just do what I do.... keep walking and ignore them. They're not cops, and they have absolutely no right to search you. If they try to physically restrain you, cha-ching... you just got a lawsuit and WalMart will end up having to pay you. The worst that can happen is they yell and make a scene... BFD. ;D
Typically it's very old, very weak, very incompetent ppl at the doors. or those too scared to sue walmart for an injury.
More annoying though, is the door greeter who earns 6.15 an hour yet believes he is in loss prevention... giving mistrusting looks and puffing up while doing their job.

I can't be a dick to the handicapped ones, and I would feel too bad if I ignored them and they wheeled after me. It's just one of those things that I have learned to live with. If I want to save 20% on my personal grooming stuff, Its gonna be a hassle on my way out. :P

i hit the dollar store about once every 2 months. load up on razors, tp, deoderant, batteries, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. Spend something like $50 and I'm good for 2 months.

it's not bad at all. they keep all the health/beauty stuff in a small 4 aisle section, so you grab a basket and you're in and out in like 5 minutes. ghetto as hell, sure. i woudn't buy food there. But for hygeine and paper products, there is no better deal.

Big fan of Target, but some things at Walmart are just crazy cheap. Every dollar counts, at least to me.
Watch the Walgreens ad - they have buy 1 get 1 free on this stuff often...

For real though, the same mnfg. plants that put the stuff on Publix shelves put the same stuff on Dollar general shelves. The products are all name brand, they just have the little yellow $1 or $2 tag on them.
From a production standpoint, yes, they are from the end of a 'run', or production cycle, so there are going to be more defects per 1000 than others. But you see what you're buying and you can refund anything that doesn't work. And that's just statistics. In real life, the Right Guard you buy at the dollar store is going to be the same quality as the Right guard you pay 75% more for at a high end store. is a $2.79 toothbrush any different from an identical 2 for $1 toothbrush? No.

You are right, the quality should be similar. I have worked at two fortune 100 companies that have supplied these types of things to the Targets and Dollar Generals of the world. (I am an Engineer - not a factory worker on the line). But why step into those stores even...?

Anyawho, corrections is easy to get into, so long as you're not a criminal -no criminal history, have a grade 12, a full drivers licence, college is advantages, but not neccessary.
It starts at $22.00 an hour with full benefits and tons of over-time. Some of the guys here are pulling in close to $100,000.00 a year.
It fits into the B.B life and gives you even more motivation to train, since it will help with the job.
Anyway, just a thought.

Many millionares' wives still clip coupons. Just because you make X doesn't meant you have to spend X.
I wouldn't shave with a DG brand razor either. But if I can pay half the price for the same Gillet, it makes the most sense.

As an engineer, you probably understand the production processes. The variance of quality of inputs of deoderant stick #1 produced vs. #1000 produced are going to be no neglible that I don't think a machine could tell the difference, much less a human armpit. However, the impact of spending an extra X amount of dollars every year over a lifetime, multiplied times the number of products, could be felt when you decide to quit working and start spending.

Do your research and go to school to get a job that has benefits and hopefully a desk. CAD drafters, computer related jobs, etc. should all work...

im certified through ace,to be honest with you personal training is a very stressful way to make a livin,its a great job if your into bodybuildin though.the problem with personal trainin is that your income basiclly depends on your clients,the gym i last worked at in jersey had it set up like this-you start with 10 an hour,if you get 3 clients your pay goes to 12 an hour,if you get another 3 clients it goes up to 14 an hour,you go up 2 dollars an hour for every 3 clients you add on.like i said if i didnt have another income comin in beside that it would have been alittle rough on me,but all in all its a great occupation if you love the fitness and bodybuilding lifestyle,im thinkin about gettin back into the feild myself after the summer,the only downfall was being in the gym all those hours made me feel alittle burned out mentally as time went by

the sport is way too hard,takes up all of your free time,and is extremely expensive
it's a 24 hr lifestyle.......you have to eat,breathe,sleep bodybuilding in order to be successful at it
working 40 plus hours per week plus trying to be a full time bodybuilder is a recipe for disaster
(altho some have managed to do it!)

Do yourself a gigantic favor and throw that notion out the window. Unless you get legitimate certification (which would take almost as much time as getting a college degree), you will be little more than a maid in a weight room.
I briefly, and I stress BRIEFLY considered that myself. But, one summer job at Bally slapped me back to reality. You only need to be in the gym for two hours MAX, to get the job done as far as training is concerned. There are plenty of people who work manual labor jobs, yet still have the energy to do their hangin' and bangin' with the weights.
I've done so, after hours of cutting grass in the Florida sun, during summertime. And I've still been able to train, after working at construction sites.
Sergio Oliva worked 12-hour shifts in foundries with blistering heat. Yet, he still became a Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia winner. And lest we forget, the current Mr. Olympia won several pro shows (including his first three Os), working full-time as a cop. (He once stated in an article that he even worked extra shifts to help pay for his Dodge Viper).
If your job is physically demanding, that means you need to pay more attention to your diet, making sure you have an abundance of the nutrients you need to grow (along with plenty of water). If your current job pays well, quitting it to become a trainer may not be the wisest move. Remember: Mo' money, Mo' food, Mo' supplements.......MO' MUSCLES!!!!!

Plenty have managed to do it. Most of those who have, however, usually have educations and thus have good-paying jobs. Or, they have super work ethics and will work full-time jobs and a few part-time jobs, to get the extra cash needed.
I mentioned Ronnie Coleman, earlier. Before he got his endorsements (from MET-Rx, Weider, and BSN), he worked a full-time job. Porter Cottrell was a firefighter; Lee Labrada was an engineer. Frank Zane and Mike Katz were both school teachers.

I agree with the posters that say any job is fine as long as you can control your diet and sleep schedules properly.
I have an extremely time demanding career, and I was always very busy in college, so making and using time wisely in the gym, preparing your meals/eating correctly, and getting the sleep is the key to making this bodybuilding lifestyle work.
Everyone has to eat AT LEAST 3 times a day so no excuse there. Actually a no brainer job like a customer service rep who sits in the cube all day or does something that is "no brainer", probably has less freedom in regards to their schedule for lunch or breaks, generally speaking. I am busy literally all day, so I personally like the idea that I don't have the time to snack on stuff also.
Sleep...well everyone has to get it, just keep your schedule regular and know how much you need.
Training...be effecient and change it up. I can run my entire regime and spend 4-5 hours a week in a gym. But, some people need more than that, so do what suits you.
One thing I add, choosing a job that is mentally demanding is probably more difficult to leverage than position that is primarily physically demanding. If anyone doesnt know what i mean by this, I can elaborate if needed.

Of course, the lack of time for meals can be compensated by use of MRPs or weight-gain shakes. While your colleagues are guzzling coffee and soda, you can ingest MET-Rx and CELL-TECH.
I know all about the mental stress, being a detriment to training. One of the worst summer jobs I ever had was at a telemarketing place. That mess was so depressing and draining, I just wanted to go home and had next to no drive to hit the gym.

I'm going out on a limb but professional bodybuilder (with a nice contract and appearances) sounds like a perfect gig for a bodybuilder.

HAHA.. sorry if i sound harsh, but you need to get yor priorities straight. Go to school get a good education for a good paying job/career, bodybuilding takes a back seat buddy..dont count on bodybuilding...its a great hobbie, and if your blessed with great genes maybe you can make something happen, if you even have the discipline too-that is-....
I was going to be a physical therapist, didnt go to grad school - ended up going to work for a pharmaceutical company..kinda wish i specialized and went to PT school though...im making about the same if not more as one, but the job as a PT would be cool, basically training people all day, helping them recover from injuries, etc..

I'm a teacher. It's a complete racket. I have all summer to f- around in the gym and a free gym to work out in during the school year. Of course, if you don't live in Michigan, teachers don't make very much money, so the idea probably sucks for most people.
