Jennifer 'TheBEAST' Cowan squatted 325 for 3 deep reps. She pressed 9 plates a side on the Cybex Squat Press machine for 10 and did 23 continous reps w/ 3 plates a side on Flex Equipment hack machine...at a body weight I think at the time was...about 140.

First time we trained legs together...I warmupd up w/ 135...so for her turn I took the plates off and put a 25 on each end and she goes...'what are you doing?' I said 'oh...want to go w/ a 10 on each end' in all seriousness...
She gave me a glare and put the 45's on each end and did 15...then 185 for 10...225 for 10...275 for 6 and 315 for 2.

Leg press should be done SLOW. I can do a lot of weight when doing it fast and deep but the legs get worked better with moderate weight doing it slow and deep.

When I was in college, I knew a guy 5'6," 138lbs who could bench 290. I hated him, he was so much stronger than me. (At the time, I was 5'8," 145lbs and could do 205 2x, and I thought I was strong ;D)

When I was my strongest this past winter I was a little over 140, I compete at about 120. At this point I am just trying to stay healthy and not injure myself so I don't push it on legs but give me about 2-3 months and I will have my leg workout videotaped. Not sure how much bigger my legs really need to get for next year so my workouts won't be like that every week but I will put something together so we can get over this nonense. Why would I lie? Who really cares, I wasn't even the one to bring it up.
As far as most of these comments, come on guys show a little class. Your right I don't have big fake boobs and no I never did (or will do) porn and sarcasm the answer is no. I

And Texas it wasn't a hack squat we are talking about, but regular free squats. Never maxed out on hacks and they took away my hack machine at my gym about a month ago which sucks.

My squat is actually going up as I'm dieting now because my knee is getting better still (after tearing ligaments and getting surgery done a long while ago).

Legs is the only muscle group I have ever formally trained with her and that was only a handfull of times. Reason why has to do w/ schedule and most of my usual training partners are typical pussies who make up every excuse known to mankind about whyt hey cannot train legs that day so TheBEAST and I would hook up to train...plus she can keep up w/ me...or I can keep up w/ her.
I was in the gym once while she trained shoulders and spotted her w/ 50lb dumbbells for seated dumbbell presses for 8. I thought she should have grabbed the 60's but she didnt. I saw her doing lateral raises w/ 30's for maybe 10 or 12.
BACK...she claims she can do pull-ups w/ a quater on a dip-belt on her for 10. I did see her do stiff-leg deads for hamstrings w/ 275 for 8 or so. Thats why she has that 'handle'...she says she is a BEAST in the gym.

I am not believing it for the simple fact that those lifts would qualify her for national powerlifting. The depth is certianly suspect.
Here is one record for the squat in her weight class.
60kg Squat Taylor Young NSW 175kg 11/06/95
132lb weight class with a 385 squat. And that is someone who has been doing it for years and the record still stands. Im not buying it.

Listen guys there is an actual competitor by the handle of Blockhead who trained legs with her. He swears she can do it cause he saw her do it himself. When she did the lift she weighted 140 so thats a little over twice her bodyweight which is not impossible.

You need to do more research then. Ericca Kern could squat 405 for 10 and leg press 1400 for reps at 5'7" and a weight of about 160. At her height and weight she had feminine lines and wasn't exactly a "mass monster" either. Of course, she was greatest of all time (IMO), and one of the strongest female bodybuilders ever. She could match a lot of male pro bodybuilders who were her training partners in certain leg exercises.
I won't even get into some of the numbers women like Becca Swanson or Jill Mills can put up. They are women who compete strongwoman contests. I've met Jill and she's rather feminine in person (probably about 5'4", 180), but Becca Swanson I read is about 5'9" and 240. :o

I will squat without a belt occasionally, but not if I am dropping below six reps and squatting below parallel.
I have no idea whether this girl can handle the weight she claims. But I am inclined to believe her because she comes across as sincere on these boards. I also love the fact that she's "all natural", so I am rooting for her! Women have roughly 2/3 the cross sectional area of contractile tissue in the lower body compared to men.
They have roughly 1/4th the contractile tissue of men in the upper body.
The average woman's leg is 2 inches larger than the average man's. This is obviously untrue in bbing though.

I looked at her and said, pretty impressive, she looked over at me and said, it's only blood. So my point is, the BEAST could and probably did do those lfts she said. It's just blood.

In about 2 months when I am finished competing and have given my body a little time to recover I WILL videotape a workout. I don't plan on ever lifting that heavy without a belt-I am no idiot and don't need a bad back. Also for everyones information I did wear knee straps when I lifted that and I NEVER said I do it all the time, I have done those lifts twice in my whole entire life.

I have considered doing a powerlifting contest, ask Blockhead he talked me out of it. I've also checked what they lift and it is more then me. I am not 132 doing these lifts I am 140 or over.
All those pictures are of me last year-I am just a little bit bigger this year.
My other lifts...what do you want to know. I have only ever maxed out on squatting so my other numbers are for sets of 8 generally.
I don't flat bench so it is hard for me to tell you what that is, I would guess around 145-160 depending on if I was depleted or not. My biceps are pretty strong, I barbell curl 55-65. Deadlifts-I need to bring this lift up as I just started doing them this year, I rep 225 but struggle near the end. When I am in the off-season I expect this lift to improve. I warm up back day with 3-4 sets of 8-12 pull-ups normally using a v-bar which is easier then wide-grip but more helpful for my physique. Dips, no I have never done weighted dips I just do them normally.
When I first started my blog I use to track my lifts so if you are really interested you can actually find copies of my workouts there.

No, I was probably under the first time-it is easier for me to estimate women then men and he never had it checked. I'm guessing I underestimated because I didn't take into account he holds most of his fat in his legs/butt, he has a large butt, but he always had an eight pack regardless of his weight so I assumed he was lower then he probably actually was. He is naturally very lean with great genetics...why is that so hard to believe.

I'm sorry I am not following this logic. For one some of what he lost was probably water eight because he watches his diet more now but I'm sure that when dropping weight you may lose muscle along with fat and not sure how you figured he is negative.

Personally I don't think she is full of shit. I believe she probably can squat 315 for 3 reps, as she has been lifting for many years now. I give her props for doing so, I know I can't squat that...but I do look forward to getting there. I'll tell you something that makes me think she is capable Adam. I think I can lift some pretty good weight for my size and she is helping me with my contest prep...and let me tell you...all she says to me is "heavier weight Laura, you need to push heavier weight". If she couldn't do it, I doubt she would be telling me to do it. ;)

I have never seen any women except "enhanced" female bodybuilders squat 300+
I have never seen any women (at my gym) squat with anything over 135 pounds. Many men struggle with 225 pounds for the squats. And many guys at my gym squat 315 but just go down maybe 10 inches and call it a squat. There are a few that actually squat correctly.
If the Beast can really squat this much weight naturally and properly..Id really like to see it because Ive never seen it for someone who is a natural female!

TA brings up a good point, which many of you miss because of your blind hatred of him. It's one thing to get on a board and babble around, but when competitors lie about weight, body fat %, lifts, etc... it sets an unattainable goal for others. Just ask your avg. beginner in the gym some of their ideas on what they consider strong lifts. ALL of them have some story about a "friend/cousin/uncle" or "a guy in a magazine" who can bench 600lbs/squat 500 ass to the ground, etc... all natural. It causes them to have a false sense of what is "real" in lifting. IMO.

Its hard to believe a 315 squat from you becasue your small weighing 140 at your offseason which is light. 315 is heavy for man or women. So if you prove these lifts we will eat our hats
315 may be heavy for a beginner but if you are any kind of a man 315 should be your 12-15 rep weight at a minimum! Id be willing to bet Jen can put up 315! Saw her in NY this weekend and I back her on this!

Maybe if TA acctually left the computer for more than 5 minutes he would make some strength gains and see that with hard training it can be achieved same goes for the other few experts on here who dont believe because people at the gyms they train at cant do it maybe if they start training at a serious place instead of at a cross-trainer and treadmill palace they would realise its possible.

Legs! 2/11/06
I was a little intimidated going into legs day because my last few workouts have been sub-par. This week I meet up with a few other competitors that really get into my head and help mentally. I needed to push the envelope this week and get back into the game.
....Squats
135-1/10 185-1/8 225-1/8 275-1/6 315-1/2....
During squats I was still a little apprehensive. My lower back has been nagging a little and at this point I don't want to get injured. I wore a belt and knee braces and went at it-the whole gym was watching, mouths open. They had never seen a girl do 2 plates, much less three. Leg Press was where I really pushed it though, 9 plates was the most I had ever done. It felt great to make that breakthrough after pushing so hard during squats. The lunges put me over the edge. My butt hasn't hurt like this in weeks, its great! I owe my training partners a big thank you. You all helped put me back on track, thanks for believing in me (and taking my crap!) I can get a little intense. Now I am feeling more confident. This is my year and I can't forget that.

Angel Teves...a past fitness competitor and Muscletech model used to compete in powerlifting events in Hawaii and only sqauted 205 pounds and this event was judged ...Angel teves max bench was only 113 lbs so I dont believe a "natural" woman can bench 400 pounds or 300 pounds for that matter....

If Angel Teves competed at a sanctioned powerlifitng event and she was natural and couldnt squat 315 pounds but only did a max squat of 205 pounds, what makes you think the Beast can do it?

Good. Just don`t set yourself unrealistic goals by basing your training on someones bullshit claims. (The Beast).
You see, a lot of young lifters and beginners get discouraged because they think people actually lift a certain weight. I have seen that tons of times. No one is there to tell them that it is all lies and they go on believing it. The magazines have a real bad habit of doing this. I think you all should start concentrating on your own lifts, before worrying about someone elses. Does it really effect you that much that someone (a girl) could possibly squat that much? Should you all really care if they can or can't?
I'll tell you this, all this talk about what a "girl" can or can't squat has given me motivation to push myself as far as I can.
People like "The Beast" make a habit of lying when no one ever questions them or calls them on it. It reinforces the behavior. They think they can get away with it the rest of their lives, and that's not healthy for anyone. At least next time she'll think twice before she invents another story.

That's cool, I'd start with the bar so you can get the movement down, then work up. Send us a vid if you get 135+. :)

Most 120-140 lb men can't squat 315. I can't remember the last time I saw ANYONE squat 315, besides my boyfriend, True Adonis.

She is not saying that. She is saying out of all the different gyms we workout at, we do not see anyone doing squats ass to floor with 315 other than myself. In the 9-10 months we have trained together and roughly 4-5 different gyms, we have not seen it once.
These gyms also have included many NPC competitors and at my old gym, a few JR National guys.
That is what it is.

That sucks that no one is doing that. Yes, I got my ass handed to me last year when squatting. I just cant believe that there hasnt been all that many out there doing that weight. What the hell is everyone doing for legs then???? I dont really think I have phenomenal development though....thanks anyway. I am NOT dieting this year like I did last year....so I dont know if I would get buried or not. I am trying to go the way of high repping it on legs to see if I can at least bring the legs out a lot more than I have. I have stayed out of the debate here because I think it has gotten out of control. I have seen a couple of women squat a lot...only 1 or 2 handle the 315...but they were doing it powerlifting style.....and they sure as hell were not skinny. Beth Orliss trains at a gym here in town, and I think she weighed more than 140 for her squats.

People around here don`t do a lot of things. I don`t even see them leg pressing. Its always an excuse. Injury this, I already have big legs that(fat), MY back gets too sore. It is amusing.

True. The fact that she no longer has a public site of her own could be a result of the schmoes discovering her. That's just speculation on my part, but I know that a lot of women are weirded out the first time they receive a sweaty 5-dollar-bill in the mail or an email from a guy asking her to carry him around the living room in her arms.
