Post by: jaejonna on August 14, 2006, 08:32:42 AM

It's a pretty underrated exercise I just don't know where to fit them in my current program  :-\
I need to move out in the parking lot like Ronnie!  8)

I did them after punishing my legs....5 sets Squats, 4 Sets Front Squats, 4 Sets Leg Press. .. then 3 sets lunges,...with a straight bar only 25s.....then the last set I only used the bar..I finished with Leg Ext...

I'm too tired and my balance seems fucked up when doing them at the end on my leg day.

I only do them at the end. its so hard though. i usually put a barbell on my back but if the gym is crowded i'll just use dumbells and do them standing in one spot.

I only do mine at the end of my day and only 1 time a week. Afterwords, I can hardly walk down the damn stairs to leave the gym. I'm still sore today after doing them yesterday morning, but they do produce a nice pump.

My last set was more of a stretching movement than anything else...I would try to step out as far as I possibly can and hold the position for a few seconds to strech all the muscles as much as possible ....

This may sound stupid but I do lunges on a non-leg day.  They wear my legs out too much to do on a leg day.  I did them today before I started my shoulder routine.  I never use a straignt bar and walk across the gym either (I'd feel like an ass doing that).  I do one leg at a time with a set of barbells in my hands.  If you do 'em this way you have to be disciplined enough not to roll your shoulders forward.

I switched from BB to DB. Only do one side, the smaller leg. Balance is a bit of an issue sometimes, but it pays to stick with it and complete the set.

i like them after squats a great finisher.  wow some of u do alot of volume for the quads ive tried that in the past and it was to much work. ive gotten my best results from 6sets for the quads now i do 5 and 3 for stiff leg deads so 8 sets total for legs...  draper and arnold said after squating they would go back and forth with 135 for lunges untill they couldnt do anymore.

DB lunges are much harder than BB lunge becuase with DBs the weight is centered right over your quads. I do prefer BB lunges better though becuase it's more comfortable
