Friggin 5 year olds who's parents can afford to give them the best. I didn't have nothing. Now I'm too old.

Meh, I grew up with very little also but I have no problem giving my kids whatever they want so long as they appreciate it.
There is nothing wrong with a parent who wants to give their child a better life.

I didn't have much when I was growing up. My wife straightened me out and through hard work I have way more now than I ever thought I would have. I am happy for my kids that they never had to go without anything within reason. The only worry I have is my son wouldn't have the ability be a scrapper like I had to be growing up if times got tough.

i had to start violin at 10 and it was only 2 days a week with 30 other kids at the same time and it was a dumb school. When i got older (over 20) i was able to get lessons but i had to keep stopping cause i still couldn't afford em.

there is a difference between spoiling your kids and giving them a better life. I spend good money for private school and educational toys and games and after school TKD for his mental and physical growth and we both like toys r us but my kid is very well mannered and respectful and is never a pain in the ass.

My son earned his black belt in TDK. When he was 16 he decided to quit. He had started at 6. I didn't want him too but I figured he was old enough to make his own decision.

my kid is almost 7 and has his high green and hits like a truck, after he gets a couple years and black belt done I want to move him to something with ground fighting and possiable some krav maga when he gets older, just so when he wants to give me lip as a teen I want to feel he can defend himself when i come off the top rope and lay the smack down..:)

No doubt about that. I would never argue that a rock musician was on par with a classically trained professional musician.
I'm just saying that there are great rock musicians with classical training. Eddie Van Halen is a good example.

I don't know. I've only read that he was classically trained to play piano.

I've got a theory for you. A guy who grew up taking violin lessons shouldn't criticize kids he sees as privileged. Because what do you think you were?

Are you crazy? how was i privilaged? because i went to a public school that had a cheap music program with cigar box violins, 30 beginner 10 year olds crammed in "orchestra" with a teacher who is actually a pianist instead of a violinist? IF I would have been privillaged... as in had money to have a private teacher since I was young and owned my own instrument then if I complained it would be stupid.

Sometimes you can only train with what you have access to. Pianos are very expensive and it isn't like you can drive down to the local music shop and just rent one. :-\

Don't blame those kids, blame your parents! I don't know how many people I see these days with little to nothing, they usually have a buttload of kids. There on assistance, you look at the parents and there idiots with no education, who spend all there money on beer and cigs.

I dropped my two oldest off at high school this morning. First day of school. My oldest daughter's 16-year-old best friend pulled up beside us driving her Ford Expedition. I'd never do that for a kid that young, but it doesn't bother me that this kid's parents have done it for her.

who says you need lessons to continue playing? since you had been playing/getting lessons for TEN YEARS you sure as hell dount need to pay for lessons anymore....

Actually I think that's how they tell the difference between gays and straight guys in some places. You hand them the instrument, if they call it a fiddle they are straight. If they call it a violin....well, you know.
