wow.. anyone else thinks he looks like a total amatuer? True it's offseason but still.. carries no size off season?

I think once he is on stage with real competition (ie olympia or arnold classic) his flaws and lack of size and maturity will be apparent.

Thanks for the pics 240

Please....he does not look like an amatuer....

The reason why you say that is because he is alone onstage by himself. Put another offseason person on that same stage, you wll see that Phil still has the other guy beat....

Still looks a helluva lot better than some of the other pros during their 'off-season'.

Phil needs to chain himself to a nautilus pullover machine for the next 2 years to bring his lats up.

His awesome arms look like they're doing most of the work on his pulldowns and rows...

He looks OK for a middle weight, nothing special

Dexter, JJ, Branch and others will give him some stiff competition

Just because he wasn't able to grow as much without drugs(duh) does not negate his success on the pro level. He's on a level paying field and unless proven otherwise(overreliance on drugs for example), the man should be given due respect.

i cant believe that's the same person who won his 1st two pro shows.  he looks nothing like he did.

most pros look fatter, but at least bigger, and you can see how they'd look if dieted down.

phil looks like a guy competing at a local show.  he still has nice shape, but fuckking A.

for once i believe you about the drugs with phil, adonis.

Wheeler would hit the single arm pose just like that, with the same sway in his movement and opposite hand on his hip.

why do you think I called him a wannabe Wheeler? Bottom line is, he can't even compare to Flex, especially at Flex's signature pose

Nice to see the majority agree with my thoughts. Yes he was great at his first show, 2nd still pretty good but couldn't hold his condition. BUT offseason.. horrible.. as many here agree.

Perhaps we have another "Levrone - add 40 pounds of lean in 3 months" physique going on.. whatever works.

Post by: Disgusted on August 20, 2006, 09:04:57 PM
Yeah, I don't think disgusted was following along with our Wheeler comparisons.  I think he thought I was confusing him with Flex.

Yep I was lost.  ;D  I will say that conditioning is the main reason he looked like he did and drugs obviously, but I give him credit for the conditioning. His front lats look OK when in shape, but you can really see how under developed they are in the off season with a little body fat. In fact a lot of his genetic weaknesses that I noticed really start to show when not in shape. Basically he needs more overall size.
Title: Re: Phil Heath guestposing at the bodyrock

First off: Phil looks terrible offseason.

Second:  As you can see without all the drugs he takes, he looks like total shit.

Phil if your reading this,,,I am a fan but it is so apparent that you must be on so many drugs, because without all the drugs you look like total SHIT....sorry bro,,just the truth

1. He still has some incredible shape.
2. narrow chest and small back become more apparent when rest of him fills out
3. He's probably cut back, but by no means looks "off" gear
4. His arms are awesome.
5. He doesn't look like a "strong" bodybuilder.  Offseason, most pros look powerful. He does not.  (I know, someone will jump on here with tales of Phil benching 1000 lbs for reps while getting a BJ on a rest day, but he just doesn't look powerful.)

I don't understand why you guys say that they are on more drugs while dieting ?

Why would they need more drugs while they are dieting if they aren't trying to gain muscle  ???

but I'll tell you who he is: He is frickin Phil Heat and will build a legend around his name, juste like the 3 dudes mention above !

True but he is just off a show so he would most likely be taking a break for a while and would lost some size. This is turn will give us a glimpse of what he might look like before he started lifting although not to the full extent.

Well - hence the world of a bodybuilder on contest day and on offseason.  For offseason, Phil looks great. The guy just won two pro shows, went to Hawaii and proposed to his girl, and is enjoying with new Met-Rx contract and everything that goes with it. It would be crazy for Phil to stay in contest ready shape in the offseason - for what reason? It only matters on that Saturday on the day of the contest. He is not going to compete at the Olympia, but is instead concentrating on winning the 2007 Arnold Classic, going head to head with Dexter.

I dont think people here pick on Phil because they are jealous of him but because they have favorite bodybuilders and are loyal to that particular bodybuilder....hence why they like taking him apart and focusing on his weaknesses...but I can bet you Phil reads this stuff and is jotting down and knows what he needs to improve on and is working on bettering that.

My favorite bodybuilder of all time is Shawn Ray...then Wheeler....then Heath....but Im beginning to like Heath's physique a lot...

Shawn ...you need to come back and win that Sandow!!!

Phil needs to get his lats up or he will become the new king of the $10,000 shows. His rear lat spread is VERY weak.

He has a problem a lot of guys with great arms have. Their brachioradialus muscle takes over in their back movements.

agreed.  i don't see him winning the O or the ASC.  like most younger bodybuilders, his back needs work.

who knows, he may not even be training all that much right now and is on small maintenace at this time.

Looks good for offseason.  Doesnt have the small joints like Flex...so nothing stands out.  Actually... his traps seem overpowering from the front.  Guys like Kev, Shawn and Flex have had conditioning like no other and couldnt get a O trop.  I'd place him 4th among those guys.  But you never know with Ronnie out the picture, he could beat any of the other pros with 15-20lbs on his frame which will come in the next 2-3 yrs.

The guy repordedly signed a 6 figure contract with Met-Rx, won $35,000 in prize money so far this year, charges $3K for a guest posing appearance.
He's doing okay money wise if he never even dose a top show.

I know......on Getbig $200K a year is nothing.....but for the rest of the world, that kind of bank at 26 years old with no family is doing okay.

The guy repordedly signed a 6 figure contract with Met-Rx, won $35,000 in prize money so far this year, charges $3K for a guest posing appearance.
He's doing okay money wise if he never even dose a top show.

Flex Wheeler got anything upto 100k a guest pose, but this was when he was 0.0%.

50%people have hatred towards pro bodybuilders because they are held up as heroes by the other 50%

when in fact they are not heroes. they spent a few days in the week working out 20 sets a workout maybe less eat good food take alot of drugs. they are nothing but regular human beings to me
