With Getbig's own Disgusted in Kamali's corner, where does that place Joe McNeil??
Did they part company after the NY or Europa?
-
BUMP for Disgusted..

Bump for an answer ;D

Bumped out is more like it for Joe McNeil.

Have you figured out a way to combat or slow the near-advanced stages of Palumboism, or are you just going to give us the same line we have heard for nearly 3 years now? The heavy deadlifts.....Last time I checked I was deadlifting heavier than Kamali at one point and my waist never grew. I was fat too eating about 6000-8000 calories a day.
So what gives?

Not sure what your question is, but hey you made a heck of a transformation.

Well can we expect a Kamali with a smaller waist?
Are you going to bring him down in overall bodyweight to see what happens?

His waist was a lot smaller in one week in Montreal and a tad smaller in AC. For next year we will shoot for another inch or two, but realistically that will be it, but he will never ever look bloated again. I'm shooting for around 20 pounds of muscle. As far as weight I couldn't care less what he weighs. It's all about how you look on stage.
-
can you explain how someone can have a low body fat percentage but still have a huge gut?
and don't say too much carb loading before a show
also do you plan to keep him in shape in the offseason or let me follow his usually add tons of fat program?
without that huge gut he can do some damage, good luck to him

To answer your first question, how else could he lose almost 3 inches and flatten his abs in a week? It would have to be food for the most part.
Right now King is doing a bit of cardio, no lifting and eating very little. Basically enjoying life, getting small and staying lean. ;D

Bumped out is more like it for Joe McNeil.
So I guess nobody else noticed this horrendous play on words.
-
Disgusted...... Are you guys gearing up for any particular show, or just taking babysteps and playing it by ear right now?

We will decide in the next month or so which one or ones to do.
-
Did Kamali get a refund on the rumored 20K he dropped for advice from McNeil? Or was it just for one contest or whatever? Why did he drop him in the first place?
-
We will decide in the next month or so which one or ones to do.
Make sure you pick 3rd-tier shows that no one good is entering like the Montreal or Atlantic City so Shari doesn't embarrass himself! ;)
-
McNeil was responsible for Kamali getting into his horrible shape at the first show. Kamali claims Joe and him had devised a two-part plan for the upcoming shows. My guess, that was Kamali's excuse as to why he didn't get into shape, and rather than blame McNeil, he comes with this excuse-good idea however. When Kamali still couldn't get into shape-for whatever reason-he gave the foot to McNeil.
All suspicion however.

Word is Disgusted isn't charging that much... for the Montreal and AC Shari paid him a case of Schlitz Malt Liquor and two pair of Babs' soiled panties. ;D

How about the July 4th Contest at Coney Island?????????

Well, like pro bodybuilding ability, most of it is genetic, but it doesn't hurt to work at it as well! ;D

Hi, Disgusted. Regarding King's training, in the interview he did with Avidan, after the NY pro show, King said he was gonna change his training pattern, dropping all the heavy training, meaning leaving out of the schedule the basic free weight exercises and their machines versions, i.e. T-bar rows, deadlifts, squats, etc. , in the hope of bringing down his midsection. He called his style of training powerbuilding. This was in the McNeil era. In my humble opinion, I thought this was a big mistake, because i always thought his style was kick ass, and his problem lies in other areas of the contest prep.
Disgusted, are you gonna bring back the heavy style, or what are you planning to do regarding Kamali's training?
Please, elaborate on this matter the best you can. Thanks!

I think he's gonna tell "King" to lay off the Twinkees and donuts.

After many years of training and research I feel that volume training is better. Meaning both higher reps and sets. I have no problem with king doing squats. In fact, regular squats are the best imo for legs overall size and shape. I am not into the whole HD style of training although I have done it many times. It does not seem to be all that great for size. It just makes you stronger on the movement that you are doing, but only to a point. A have nothing against a particular exercise in general, I feel that it is more reps and and how you perform it then how much weight. The one thing that I will eliminate is deadlifts.

you know, im not an expert, but i really think this is a very good idea...To pull a Levrone, going off (and i mean completely, trainning, eating, etc) for some time and then start again fresh.
I think the biggest challenge for Kamali now its not to be a competition for others, but to regain the kind of physique he once had (2001) . If he can do that (wich im afraid its impossible) he will be already a serious threat to many competitors...

Of course it's not impossible. Think 2001, but with added size and a tad less bodyfat.

Great, Disgusted, thanks for the answer. Just one thing: why deadlifts in particular? Do you REALLY, REALLY believe that they might contribute to the widening of the waist? And waht about King pulling directly form the floor? I never believed in that rack shit, or partial deadlifts myth..... :-\ I think those are the real ego exercise, piece of shit movement.......if you can't pull form the floor, you aren't doing shit, regarding deadlifts.
Anyway, please explain more on these, thanx!

as far as i know kamali doesnt do deads off the ground...he does the heavy rack pulls.
-
Who is disgusted ???
Ronnie Coleman.
He's considering retiring and spending his time helping Kamali break the top 20 in next year's Olympia.
-
I think he's with George Foreman now. ;)
-
Kamali just needs to lay off the GH. Thats whats given him a gut. Not deadlifts.
-

Yeah, I know that. That's one of the things that I don't like in his training. I think he would be better off pulling from the floor, no matter what......
The rack deadlifts are non-sense. Crappy range of motion, at best....ar worst, an ego exercise where you load up the plates, thus increasing unnecessarily intra abdominal pressure for the sake of nothing.
-
Remember Titus did that light kind of blood volume training and he still had a big gut.
-

i would disagree with that...i dont see any reason for a bodybuilder to be doing deads off the ground...keep the stress on just the back.
Bodybuilding Deadlifts – These are called bodybuilding deadlifts, because of their extreme hypertrophy abilities. They are an aesthetic exercise, and build the rotator cuff muscles, but also retract the scapula, which builds center back thickness as well. Traditionally these are performed on smith machines. You will frequently see Charles Glass utilize this exercise with top IFBB pros. It is a partial deadlift. You set the weight to a level about knee high. The the key is to focus on pulling the weight with the upper back muscles. At the top range of motion laterally rotate your shoulder joint, and squeeze the living daylights out of your rotator cuff muscles. The key is the lateral rotation here! You should get a massive peak contraction.

We all know that, but he can't very well say so in Flex. ::)

Yeah.......tell that to Ronnie Coleman, Dorian Yates and Jay Cutler.......all owners of some of the best backs in history, all pulled from the floor, powerlifting style. Like Haney once said it best, don't try to rewrite the book, stick with the A, B and Cs......
Would you ever envision Johnnie Jackson doing your 'bodybuilding style' deadlifts? :-\
And his back is very weak..... ::)
Additionally, Kamali would not be hurt from the extra stimulus in the legs, hamstrings, etc, all of those are part of the traditional deadlift from the floor.

I guess the best way to put it is that you really don't need to do deadlifts to develope a great back. I can name tons of guys who don't and tons that do. Personal preference I guess. King has done them for years so he has layed a good foundation anyway. I don't think that contribute to a wide waist. There are other factors to explain that.

What are the other factors???
How will u fix his arms??? Trim his waist? work directly on the arms?? What are u going to do.
