Title: At their best who is better Lee Priest or Shawn Ray?
Post by: ieffinhatecardio on October 03, 2006, 08:56:21 PM: They were both fantastic in their prime. Who was better? In a two man Mr. Olympia competition who takes home the sandow?

I know these two pictures suck but I'm having a hard time finding good competition pictures of Lee.

Lee's arms are insane. They might even be more impressive than Coleman's at least when proportion is factored in.

In a winner take all competition where they're both in the best condition of their lives does Shawn win easily or is it a battle? I think it's easy to discount Lee because of Shawn's fantastic balance and structure but Lee can look so impressive.

I'd love to see it.

I like both...touch decision. Lee's arms are the sickest....but everything else is Shawn all the way.

At 24 I placed 3rd in the 1990 Mr. O after placing 13th in my 1st Olympia 1 day after turning 23.
Regardless, I believe being that Lee and I are both Vertically Challenged we've beaten some pretty Big guys and that in and of itself speaks volumes to what we've both accomplished.

Shawn definitely was more balanced, you could see Shawn was blessed with good wheels, just look at when he won his pro card. Shawn could have gone overboard with his quads, which would put everything out of proportion. And Shawn has some of the best ab shots of all time.
Which is what Lee has done with his arms, they make his chest look small. The main reason why Lee has big guns, is because he is short. If he was 5'10", his arms would be longer, and less impressive, also his long torso would be a galring weakness.

Shawn knew how to balance out his physique, as did Flex, it is how the body flows.

Lee wins if it were a freak contest. Shawn would win if it was based on conditioning, and aesthetics.

That still amazes me to this day....24 and 3rd at the o. With your height, you were truly a giant slayer. Thats one thing you got from Shawn. Consistancy at every show. No Jekyll and Hyde. Perfection at all the shows..Ill put him in my top 5 for the span of a carreer.

When you were saying thanks for the remarks why did you say "and I guess the comparisons"? It almost sounds like you don't feel like you should be compared with Lee. I may be interpreting your words wrong though because other than that what you said was very sincere.

Lee and I in Head to Head competition, never place one after the other.
I believe there were always at least a few people separating us regarding final placements which is why it is hard to draw close comparisions.
Now Lee Labrada Comparisions were more on point since we battled alot.
He was older and more established than I when I hit the Pro Scene, as my Muscle Maturity had to catch up with how much time he had invested in Pro BBing over me.
Eventually I caught him at the ripe old age of 27 in 93 ;D

Hair- Lee still has it, edge to Mr. Priest ;)
Shoulders- Lee
Chest- Shawn by a long shot
Biceps- Lee by a mile
Triceps- Ditto
Forearms- See biceps and triceps
Back- Complete domination by Shawno
Leg shape, sweep, and mass- Mr. Priest
Leg conditioning- Shawn kills, but Lee is making progress sans the
KFC bulking plan
Calves- Lee

Overall- ohhhh this is killing me........Lee wins 5-3, but Shawn is the true victor based on killing Lee from behind, for overall conditioning, and for presentation. Lee's superman getup is starting to balance the annual Jennifer Holiday pose fest by Shawn, but it ain't there yet. Lee has more contests though, and he never failed to study for the drug test. *ahem*

There you go shawn, admit hater, and you get the prize

The two competed many times and Shawn NEVER lost to him,or placed anywhere close to Lee.

I can't believe some people just say "Shawn, end of discussion" without even acknowledging how great Lee can be. I actually prefer the sweep in Lee's quads to Shawn's quads. Shawn's are bigger though.

whats wrong with saying "Shawn, end of discussion" the only thing you added was the fact that you feel Lee has better quad sweep. and why do they have to acknowledge how great Lee is when not everyone thinks he's great? which is obvious because the majority of the responses have been in Shawn's favor.

I'm curious, when you're spraying Spray & Wash onto the skid marks in Shawn's underwear before you throw them into the washing machine and Shawn yells downstairs to you that he needs his toenails clipped what do you do? Which task do you prioritize first, the dirty underwear or Shawn's toenails? I mean what's more important to you, getting Shawn's dirty draws in the wash or making sure his toenails are trimmed? I imagine that must be a dilemma of epic proportion for you. Good luck.
