Not to nitpick about advice here, but you should never swab in circles.  Yeah, I know it's better than not doing it at all, but you should always swab in a direct motion.  It prevents any bacteria from being pulled to the site.  But yeah, any is better than nothing.  Good to hear you're OK.  Unfortunately, some of the best lessons learned are from self experience.

The med books say to swab in  a circular motion from the inside out.
Hot soapy water would likely suffice on its own.
