I've seen the guy twice in real life, once at the train station in Bristol, and another time in a restaurant in London.  Going about his business in real life he dresses normally (jeans/T-shirt/trainers) and his hair is pretty normal, he wouldn't stand out anywhere.

The way he dresses/looks on TV and for photo-shoots is nothing more than marketing really, to make him stand out from the crowd of other bland TV presenters and comedians, and obviously it's working.
