Thanks for that guitar101 site. I thought I've seen just about all the live videos there are of Van Halen (with Roth) but theres a ton of great stuff I've found there that I never new exsisted. Some it is close to pro quality but has never made it to the general public, I don't get it.
the band is very againts releasing stuff that they feel is not up to snuff quality wise. If you look on youtube there were 3 video's shot for Van Halen 1, then they did a few for Don Kischner's show from VHII, a couple of lip sink performances for WACF, 3 live vids for Fair Warning and then it kinda stops for the Dave era. Live Without a Net is an incredible performance by everyone, they shot a vid in Japan in 89 and it's great. The Right Here Right Now vid is "ok" at best, it's way over-edited and hard to watch. The band did a PPV special in 95 that's pretty good if not great.
I've got TONS of live vids from every tour but they're on video cassette and I've got tons of live recordings from 74-95...probably about 200 or so.....
They recorded shows for a live album on a few tours, I know they recorded in 81 or were set to record but Dave screwed Al's wife-who was also named Valarie and when Ed heard about it he took a swing at Dave and Dave ducked and Ed punched a wall messing up his hand

they recorded shows in 84, 86 gave us Live without a net, 89 had shows recorded and 91 did as well....
anyway, there's some great stuff out there if you look for it.
