I can do everything but overhead press with heavy weight which make me feel like my shoulder want to pop out the back.
Here's my ?
I want to start my first cycle (Test, TBol, Deca) In the next 2wks or so...
think this injury is bad enough to hold me back from decent gains?
How long will I be down from this surgery?
Will I lose most of my gains?
My doc has me signed up for an MRI and says since I've dislocated them so many times it's unstable and requires surgery. Laproscopic or full C Cut isn't clear just yet. I plan to get the surgery in Dec so I have time to decide my choice.
As of now I am 6' tall, 244lbs @ 16%bf (season just started so I'll get leaner)
What would you do?
My questions for you:
You say you can do
everything except heavy military pressing? This doesn't sound like the complaints of a recurrent glenohumeral dislocater. Is that your only functional limitation, or do you dislocate with simple activities of daily living? If it's only an issue for you with heavy military pressing, in which you feel like you may come out posteriorly, why not just do them lighter? or not at all? Certainly you can develop cannonball delts all the same. Also, if that truly is your only limitation, some well-directed, targeted rehab should take care of that one without surgery.
If you truly are a recurrent, unidirectional dislocater, you'll be able to start training ancillary muscles after about a 6 week period after surgery, and begin phasing in direct (delt) and indirect (pec, back) muscle groups over the 3-4 month period after surgery. There is a not insignificant rate of redislocation after glenohumeral stabilization procedures, and their success
relies upon patient compliance with all postop instructions.
My concern over you being on gear during rehab, at least during the firs 3-4 months, would be that you just would try to push the limits of recovery a little too much. What a waste of a good cycle. Save it until you have fully recovered. You'll get all of your gains back, trust me. Having undergone 8 operations on my own body in a single day to eradicate cancer about 2 1/2 years ago, I can tell you I look better now than I have in the past 10 years. Muscle memory (a some tasty gear

) is an amazing thing.
