its impassible to do both at the same time  you have to pick which to go after  first then do the other. in order to lose body fat you need to cut some calories and increase cardio. to gain mass you need to get as many calories in and decrease the cardio

when you gain weight..you're trying to acquire as much "land" as possible... when you're cutting..you're trying to "keep" or "maintain" as much land as possible..you can't do both.

well you can but you have to be 110% right on your diet or else it won't work.. making gains while trying to cut down is hard to do becasue you're trying to make things happen on a deficit.. which puts you more prone to injuries

Its not impossible, but there is no diet protocol online that will do it for you. You have to have such a perfect balance that most people just cannot handle.

It begins with finding out what your daily caloric intake should be. Taking into account how much activity you get throughout the day. How many calories do you burn in a workout? Better get a scale to weigh your food and write down everything too.
