More from Ari:

ARI FLEISCHER, FORMER WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY, PRESIDENT G.W. BUSH: But, Larry, it's not the truth. It's...

KING: It's not the truth.

He's lying?

FLEISCHER: You know, I don't like to use worlds like that, Larry. But I just don't think it's an accurate representation of anybody who was in the White House at the time, including Scott, saw. The worst part about the book is the part that Scott was not in the meetings for, which is when he was deputy press secretary for domestic matters. And that was the lead-up to the war in Iraq, which now Scott charges was propagandized and he says that the president misled the country.

Well, he doesn't back up the charges. There's no substance behind anything in what he wrote there. He just launches the charge.

So it's wrong on its face, wrong in substance, but, also, it's the very thing that Scott himself is decrying. It's the use of innuendo and just attack your opponent. In this case, Scott has made his opponent the president who gave him the job he used to serve for.

He has the right to do that, but isn't Scott doing the same thing he accuses people of doing that shouldn't be happening?

. . . .

As predicted......many paint brushes.

But in the end, most suspect it was all BS to begin with, and i'm not talking about Scott,  I'm talking about the Iraq war sales pitch.

Besides he ain't the only one who's spoke up.

More people trying to make money?  I'm sure there will be.  Every administration has its Benedict Arnold.  :)

No, what you'll see is many people involved in the BUSH administration coming forward exposing scandalous stuff.  It happens after every administration.  the unique thing about this one, is that it's happening during BUSH's administration which is likely a foreshadowing of a flood of it after he leaves office.  Especially if the Dems win.

Who really gives a crap if he did it for money?   You think some one who comes forward with stuff like that and doesn't have a book to sell doesn't end up making money on the lecture circuit?  And then if it's good enough, most of them end up writing a book anyway.

So the whole thing about him making money is really moot.

I disagree.  This isn't a guy who is just trying to do the right thing.  He was with the president for eight years.  If he was really just trying to tell the truth, he wouldn't be asking people to pay for his story.

And I haven't seen any smoking guns yet.  Just some broad brush allegations.  I'd be interested to hear from Decker (who I am certain will read this book) about the specific allegations this guy makes.  I want to know what he saw first hand, particularly after his former boss (Ari) said this:

"The worst part about the book is the part that Scott was not in the meetings for, which is when he was deputy press secretary for domestic matters. And that was the lead-up to the war in Iraq, which now Scott charges was propagandized and he says that the president misled the country."

I don't think he's just trying to do the right thing either.  But that doesn''t really matter.  He's telling his story.  People are not that idealistic in the real world.  Just ask Hagee and Wright.

Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neil told us the same thing way back in 2004 in his book The Price of Loyalty: George W. Bush, the White House, and the Education of Paul O'Neill.  Remember?  The White House put the attack dogs out on him too.

It matters to me.  If a person has questionable motives or lacks credibility, then their message is automatically suspect.  He could very well be telling the truth, but I don't trust a person who appears to be motivated by greed.  Let's see his evidence.

You are assuming his motives based on the paint brush.

Not really.  I'm assuming he is motivated by greed based on the facts we know to date:  he served with Bush for eight years, he said nothing about his so-called objections to whatever was going on in the White House, and now he's telling his story for money.

Although I do agree with Dole’s comments, which focus more on how disloyal the guy is.

How else would he tell a story that's big enough to write in a book?

Besides there are very few people who will do something soley for doing it and not to make a profit.

As for him keeping his mouth shut for 8 years?................... Heck, he might just have had faith in BUSH.   ;D

Maybe.  :)  You're giving him too much credit.  I think this guy struck while the iron was hot (anti-war sentiment, Bush with atrocious poll numbers, etc.).

I agree.  Possibly was a supporter, then he got disillusioned, and waited for the right time to start writing a book.   People have done the same thing in Washington.  Mostly, motivated by money.

It may take time for a man to let his conscience relay the truth.  He will rest easy with God at least.

Money schmoney...it comes and goes.... ::)
