Congrats and good luck to you and your wife.  It's a terrible disease.  Glad she was able to overcome.
Thanks pal.  She's tougher than I am.  The mastectomy was a real hurdle.

Decker are you going to file a paternity suit action in family court?

You should have told him to finish in your mouth, not your vagina.  My condolances.
Why don't you just stop?  Your multiple names/handles, your continuous flaming, your constant homosexual references...nobody cares what you think or what you have to say b/c you spout this sort of nonsense.

Beach Bum and Colossus don't agree with me on lots of things, but they both have my respect and they make this forum worthwhile.

You, you're just a burden.

Nah, ...he's still an idiot! Someone who calls for a LIHOP scenario isn't worthy of being POTUS!

Numerous handles? Ive been a get big member for almost five years and have always had only one handle. Im sorry decker, theres no conspiracy theory behind my postings. Ask Ron or any moderator if you dont believe me.

Im very hurt that some random douchebag who Ive never met and will never meet doesn't respect me on an internet message board.  Now thats a burden. Can you recomend some medication to help deal with this unbearable "burden"?

Talk about dishing it out but not being able to take it, dude its not that serious. I responded to your Dinosaur cum on my lips comment. Did I whine? Uh, no I insulted you back appropriately. This is get big you queer. Next time I make fun of you, unhook your modem and sit in the corner with your arms folded, that would be a more mature response than this shit.

PS, the only reason you "respect" them is because they dont flame you as much as they should for your absurd comments and because you decided to share personal information about a sick family member to which they responded respectfully. So please, save your self righteous nonsense and pretend outrage for a left wing "sensitive needs" support group message board.

Decker, sorry to hear that...sincerely hope your wife's cancer stays in remission.  Medicine has done a lot better with breast cancer in the last 5-10 yrs.  Most stage 1 and stage 2 breast cancers are treated & do well.

Thats the part that gets me the most...how can you cheat on your wife who has cancer and sacrificed so much for him.  Just a shitbag move.  I know a lot of politicians do it but this situation is a little more callous.

Still more to come out about this, including the paternity issue and the money trail.

Former Edwards adviser says he made payments to Hunter, Young
Posted: 08:27 PM ET

From CNN Correspondent Jessica Yellin

(CNN) — Fred Baron, the finance chairman for the John Edwards presidential campaign, said in a Friday statement that he paid to help the woman Edwards had an extramarital affair with, and the former aide who was the alleged father of her child, move out of the former North Carolina senator’s home state.

“I decided independently to help two friends and former colleagues rebuild their lives when harassment by supermarket tabloids made it impossible for them to move forward on their own,” he said of his efforts to aid Rielle Hunter and Andrew Young.

“I did this of my own volition without the instruction or suggestion of anyone, and made a conscious decision not to tell anyone, including John Edwards, that assistance was provided,” he added. “The assistance was offered and accepted without condition. This is now and shall always remain a private matter between these individuals and me.”

Hunter and Young lived separately at an upscale development in Chapel Hill, and later in Santa Barbara, California.

Thanks for the kind words.  My wife got lucky, so to speak, she had stage 2 with no lymph node involvement.  She supported Edwards largely b/c she identified with his wife.  She is furious at him.  He let a lot of people down.

Here's another lie exposed.  Your posts read like a rash over this forum the last couple of weeks.

But yet we are supposed to believe that for 5 years you rarely post here b/c you're a mover and shaker in your private life.

Can you see why that's hard to believe?  Or is your active life on the downturn and suddenly GetBig is a viable option for your valuable time?

I can assure everyone that this is not your only handle.  You drop clues like a club-fingered cat burglar.

As for your constant flaming...that will inevitably devolve into the worst accusations you can muster.

Just look at the other forums here where flaming is the norm...everyone is a 'child molester'.

Unfortunately you don't see that.  So everyone must suffer your flaming...except for yourself, to you your crapola is proof positive of your superior arguments.

I'll put up with it though.  It pays off in the end.

Mainstream Media Notes Enquirer Scoop
By RUSSELL ADAMS and SHIRA OVIDE
August 11, 2008; Page B7
www.wsj.com

For most of the 10 months since allegations of former Sen. John Edwards's extramarital affair appeared in the National Enquirer, the story was marginalized, partly because much of the media has a dismissive attitude toward the publication that broke it.

They ignored the story at their peril, forgetting that amid the unflattering celebrity photos and overblown headlines, the Enquirer, a supermarket tabloid owned by publisher American Media Inc. has a track record of scoops, including some about politics. And this time it found an unlikely ally: a group of Internet voices driven less by political ideology than by a view of the mainstream press as out of touch.

Associated Press
The Enquirer, a supermarket tabloid, has a track record of scoops, including some about politics, and has at times forced the mainstream press to play catch-up.

The Enquirer, which has been reporting the story for nearly a year and which first published it last October, was vindicated Friday when Mr. Edwards admitted to the affair to Walt Disney Co.'s ABC News. (Mr. Edwards has denied other elements of the Enquirer's reports, including that he is the father of the woman's child.) News of the former Democratic senator's admission subsequently was splashed across most major newspapers. It was the first time many of those publications, including The Wall Street Journal, had weighed in on the topic.

Not so in the blogosphere, where a stable of voices on sites such as Washington Post Co.'s Slate, Huffington Post and Drudge Report had recognized the possibility that the story might be true and questioned the old guard's inaction. Unlike previous scandals fueled by partisan politics, this one blurred political lines. It was the left-leaning Huffington Post that began investigating the relationship between Mr. Edwards and the woman, Rielle Hunter, around the time the first Enquirer story was published last year.

"New media really helped keep this story alive," the Enquirer's Editor in Chief David Perel said. He added that the online voices that propagated the story aren't as willing to dismiss the Enquirer's story as "tabloid trash," as Mr. Edwards is.

Traditional media's late arrival to the Edwards story stemmed in part from skepticism about the Enquirer, which isn't taken seriously as a Washington opinion-maker. Indeed, the Edwards news didn't even get top placement on the cover of the latest issue.

Still, the Enquirer has at times forced the mainstream press to play catch-up, even in the political field typically dominated by more established media outlets. It was the first publication to unearth a photo of Donna Rice sitting on the lap of then-presidential candidate Gary Hart, who was forced to drop out of the 1988 presidential race.

Of course, the paper pays for many of its headline-grabbing interviews and it has had to settle numerous lawsuits, two factors that often have cast doubt on its credibility. In 2004 American Media settled a lawsuit with former U.S. Congressman Gary Condit over stories linking him to the disappearance and death of Chandra Levy.

John Drescher, executive editor of the News & Observer, said the Enquirer's mixed track record gave him pause. The Raleigh paper had reporters tracking the Edwards story for months, but it and fellow McClatchy Co. paper the Charlotte Observer only began publishing their accounts ten days ago, when editors were satisfied they had confirmed the events to their satisfaction. "The way we treated it was as a tip, but there's no question that we treated it differently because it was in the Enquirer," Mr. Drescher said. "I think that's appropriate."

The Enquirer makes no apologies for its tactics, including the practice of paying sources, even splashing "We'll pay big for your celebrity gossip" across its pages every week. It paid a source in reporting the John Edwards story, said David Pecker, American Media's chairman and chief executive.

The Enquirer's weekly circulation of just more than one million, while robust, is a long fall from its 1970s peak of more than five-million copies, reflecting the challenge of staying relevant at a time when celebrity coverage has gone mainstream.

And while ad pages are up at many of its publications, the Boca Raton, Fla.-based publisher faces a tough road financially. It said in its latest securities filing in June that if it doesn't refinance at least $389.5 million of debt by Feb. 1, "we may have to liquidate assets, seek protection from creditors or may be unable to continue as a going concern."

According to this, the affair started a long before she started working for Edwards.

Inconsistencies Raise Concerns Edwards May Still Be Lying About Affair
Monday, August 11, 2008

John Edwards’ explanation of his affair with videographer Rielle Hunter includes several apparent inconsistencies, which grate against his assertion that he was telling “99 percent” of the truth before coming clean Friday in a confessional interview.

Edwards admitted to the affair with Hunter, saying it began in 2006. He denied it for months it following reports by the National Enquirer last October.

But discrepancies between his story and the unraveling timeline of events raise more questions about whether Edwards' attempts to come clean are in fact just more lies and half-truths.

A former close friend to Edwards’ mistress said Monday that the former presidential candidate’s affair began “long, long, long” before she was hired to work for his campaign — contrary to Edwards’ claim that the relationship began only after Hunter was hired to film Edwards for a series of documentaries to appear on the Internet.

Pigeon O’Brien told ABC News that Hunter met Edwards at a New York City hotel in late February or early March of 2006, and that the affair began shortly thereafter.

By the time Hunter was signed on to the Edwards campaign as a videographer — for a fee of $114,000 — O’Brien said they were already in a steamy relationship.

“The affair began long, long, long before she was hired to work for the campaign — almost half a year before she was hired to work on that video,” O’Brien said.

“She said that they had a very deep connection and that they were spending time together in a romantic and sexual way very early on, and in a very intense way.”

But Edwards said Friday that Hunter’s hiring in July 2006 had nothing to do with the affair, and that in fact the affair began after she was brought on board.

In his written statement admitting the affair, Edwards said the “misconduct took place for a short period in 2006. It ended then.”

But according to reports, Hunter wrote e-mails in early April about a trip she took to North Carolina to see her “love lips.”

Campaign finance records also show Hunter received her first payment in July 2006.

Other loose threads are also unraveling Edwards’ account.

After Edwards was caught by The National Enquirer visiting Hunter in late July at the Beverly Hilton, the former North Carolina senator said Friday that that rendezvous was only arranged last minute.

“I had been in Los Angeles that day to do an event with the mayor, and that afternoon I got a call in my hotel room from a gentleman named Bob McGovern. … And he asked me to come and meet with them.”

But a National Enquirer reporter told FOXNews.com in July that they got a tip “a while ago” that Edwards would be at that hotel, and that “we had some time to implement a plan.”

Without going into specifics, the reporter said the tip came within the week, suggesting the tabloid had more than an afternoon to organize its stakeout.

Edwards’ admission was arguably driven by the report that Edwards was caught visiting Hunter at the Beverly Hilton. FOXNews.com confirmed last month that Edwards had the run-in with reporters, and Edwards later copped to it.

But he said he only went to keep her from going public with the affair — and not to see the baby that he denies is his.

Though the Enquirer published a photo that alleges to show him holding a baby at the Beverly Hilton and an Enquirer reporter said he saw McGovern show up at the Hilton on that day with a baby carrier, Edwards said, “I have no idea who that baby is.”

Meanwhile, the issue of paternity is a question that is not likely to be resolved soon.

Edwards said confidently during his interview Friday that he would submit to a paternity test to prove he is not the father of Hunter’s baby.

The Enquirer issued a challenged for him to do so on its Web site and even a family member of Hunter’s came out to suggest such a test be taken.

But a day later Hunter’s lawyer issued a statement saying Hunter would not take the test.

“Rielle will not participate in DNA testing or any other invasion of her or her daughter's privacy now or in the future," lawyer Robert Gordon said.

Edwards issued artful answers to a handful of other questions Friday.

Asked about reports that $15,000 a month was being paid to Hunter by Dallas attorney and Edwards supporter Fred Baron, Edwards said, “I had nothing to do with any money being paid and had no knowledge of any money being paid.”

He added: “Is it possible that he wanted to help them because they were in a difficult time? Of course. Is it possible that he was worried that in fact something had happened with me and he wanted to help? I mean, I think all these things are possible.”

Edwards also left open the door when asked about reports that he had met Hunter in California several times before his run-in with the Enquirer in July.

He responded only, “I was at the Beverly Hilton.”

The plot sickens.

Edwards' Mistress Paid $14,000 for 'Video Excerpts'
Friday, August 15, 2008

WASHINGTON —  New questions emerged Friday about John Edwards' longtime chief fundraiser and secret efforts that protected the pregnant woman with whom the former presidential candidate has admitted a shameful affair in 2006.

Fred Baron, Edwards' national finance chairman and a wealthy Dallas-based trial attorney, has acknowledged he quietly began sending money to Rielle Hunter, Edwards' mistress, to resettle in California, along with the family of Andrew Young. Young is the campaign aide who has said he is the father of Hunter's daughter, born after her affair with Edwards.

But Baron is far more intertwined in the matter than previously known, with longstanding personal connections to the lawyers who represented Hunter and Young, according to a review of legal findings by The Associated Press. Hunter's lawyer, Robert J. Gordon of New York, was sued unsuccessfully with Baron and Baron's law firm in 2001 in U.S. District Court in New York in a racketeering complaint. Young's lawyer, Pamela J. Marple of Washington, was among three lawyers who defended Baron and his firm. The case was dismissed in December 2005.

Baron didn't return a phone call or respond to an e-mail from the AP on Friday.
