I don't think Dorian used diuretics , which is why in 1996 when they tested for them he was still in the same rock hard bone dry conditioning he made famous and some guys were clearly off , and Nasser got busted using them , I would say its simply genetics and obviously a very strict diet , they always said Yates was in contest shape 3 weeks out from a contest , diuretics is usually a last ditch effort because someone didn't pay attention to their diet
Narcissist,
I'm pretty sure Dorian did use diuretics apart from his 1996 win (and even then, undetectable stuff ... ?). That's the best way to explain how mighty Dozz was smaller than usual yet about as dry as he was at peak form (93, 95).
But you are right:
extreme diuretics use usually IS the hallmark of a bodybuilder who didn't take his/her dieting seriously enough. Mustafa Muhammhed (sp?) is a perfect example. That guy had all kinds of muscle but was simply too smooth to do well; then, BAM, all of the sudden, he was ripped enough to place.
It's a shame for Mustafa ... if he'd dieted as hard as he trained, drying out with diuretics would just be a finishing touch. His structure is a little weird but I honestly think had he not as many diuretic "meltdowns" he'd be a top IFBB man today.
