training split question
« on: October 19, 2008, 07:31:58 AM »
Hello everyone
I have been wondering this for a while:

The way my split is arranged, I train delts/chest/traps the day after back.

Am I making a mistake training back the day after shoulders and rear delts?
Or should i give it a day in between?
And do you guys think I should train rear delts w/ back or shoulders?

Thank you.

Change things up. Go:

Chest/Tris
legs
Shoulder/bis
Back/traps

Negative.......

Why would you train your biceps the day before back?

But to answer your ?  I happen to train my back the day before shoulders/tris.  Works for me but to each his own....

I don't think that matters, some do with back, some with shoulders. I do with shoulders myself but mostly because I had enough exercises on back day and a little less work on shoulder day.

i do

legs
day off
chest
back
day off
shoulders
arms

The off days are because of my work schedule, and other than that it works perfect for me. working ches and back without a day off is no problem and there's enough time before shoulders/arms getting to work.

I do:

Back/Tris

Day off

Chest/Bis

Legs

Day off

Shoulders/Arms

Day off

One thing I'll never do is work back and legs on back to back.

true, that's a rather stupid thing to do.

You can't do good deadlifts after a day of heavy squatting or other way round.

Exactly, the stress on the lower back is too much specially if you go heavy. And SLDL is always on my menu as well as squats, so I need at least two days in between before training efficiently back and legs.

Although using supplementation I deadlifted or squatted every day for 2 and a half months at different rep ranges each week getting stronger. No problems with lower back and had a moderate strength base.

It was fuckin gruelling but great strength gains.

this works best for me as far as rest and spacing conflicting muscle groups together.

sunday chest tris
monday back calves
tuesday off
wensday shoulders bis
friday legs abs
sat off
repeat

i used follow a five day spilt about up until about 4 years ago. i got this spilt from a ron harris article.
the five day is good but it requires more rest and also some bodyparts just do not need their own day like arms.

yeah i train legs and back right next to each other.. i never feel any thing in my quads from dead lifts just my back..  and i dont do suqats for legs, only hack squats, leg press, uni leg press, leg extension,. somtimes dumbell lunges.. so my back is never worked with legs... i dont see any problem working out legs and back next to each other..

I don't think you can work such big body parts back to back. Even if they don't fell sore the stress that each puts on your nervous system is so intense that a day of is really needed. I just give my self a full day rest after each workout. It took a lot to get used to but i started seeing much better gains and my workouts are a lot more intense.
