I can also testify that cheaper food - in general - is usually processed and not as healthy. I used to live on Hamburger Helper; I would get it when the store had a special and I used coupons on top of that. Now I try to buy more fresh (or at least frozen as opposed to canned) vegetables and fruits, leaner meats and not as much rice or pasta. It costs more, but to me it is worth it, and I feel fortunate to be able, despite my un-getbig-like meager salary, to absorb the expense.
