not to defend Bluto or anything (God forbid), but have you ever seen over at bodybuilding.com.  Theres guys with 50 and 60 thousand posts--its like common place over there

In short, they don't give a fuck about their health by eating crappy/cheap foods, drinking beer, hanging on their lazy asses. This results in a low of self esteem and it's very hard to break this cycle.
