straight (  -- --  )

or

i rarely do them. if your asking for suggetsions, do them whichever way you feel puts the best stress on your pecs and the least stress on your shoulders.

Palms facing in, neutral grip.  DB's same distance apart at the bottom as at the top.

Slight angle to keep help keep the stress off the labrum.

I keep the dumbells flat (parallel to the floor) throughout the movement.  I use an arc movement, coming in at the top, and sometimes I twist my palms in at the top as well.

Straight, with the elbows inline with the upper chest/neck. Touch the DB's together at the top. Sort of a crossover effect, a little more tension on the pec's. If you wish, draw up the knees above the body. Eliminates most back arch or body English. More focus on the pressing muscles. Full stretch at the bottom.

Big Dawg version: Semi straight grip, with the ROM directed to the middle portion of the DB press. Like never locking out or hitting the bottom/stretch of the exercise (TUT). Feel free to cheat during the process.

Of the above two versions, pick your own poison to see which works best for you. Good Luck.

I do mine this way as well..... I have always felt that this is easier on the shoulders and allows the dumbbells to travel lower. Vince Gironda called this move  a cheat flye. I always hurt my shoulders when my palms are facing forward. But yes, I prefer palms facing each other( HAMMER GRIP).

ive never been able to keep tension on my chest touching db's at top, either pressing or flying... a few inches short always felt better to me

i preferd db's straight..... also, i felt forced reps on these better than any exersize, used to feel like my chest would burst.
