Don't be hatin on J. Robert, Depussey!

Did you know that Oppie tried to kill one professor when he was in Uni with poison, but managed to talk himself out of getting severely reprimanded?

Debussey loves Oppenheimer and his friends Feynman, Fermi, VonNeumann (greatest mathematician in the last century), Teller and the other great scientists that made the Manhattan project successful :'(

Didn't know that actually. Interesting little tidbit. Everyone has their fuckups.

Edit: Just read about it. Dosed an apple in poison and left it on his professor's desk. Wonder why he did it.

Debussey think it was connected to depression of some sort, but not sure, must check it up.

Just look at this for fucks sake:

Just beautiful.  :'(

Debussey's admiration does not come from the killing power or the number of dead people, but from the sheer monumental overall power created by human genius.

And when the time comes to deflect asteroids that threatens the earth with a big boom, the work the people in New Mexico did in the early 40s will do more than some snake venom. :D

Inaccurate, the scientists that have looked at this issue haven't seen any practical benefits of deploying nuclear weapons against asteroids. You actually risk a potentially more dangerous problem by blowing up the threat in smaller pieces. The more likely solution will be to send up a rocket that lands on the surface of the asteroid and then begins to "push" it with rocket power. Doesn't take much(actually VERY little) to disturb its path enough to make it a no-threat.

Methinks the morality of the situation is a little different when said secret involves killing thousands of your fellow countrymen.

Right.  Because overseas contractors would have a real moral issue hurting us huh?

If we're talking about high profile scientists with full knowledge what kind of device they were making and what it is for, I say that is a HIGHLY exaggerated number.

The Manhattan Project eventually employed more than 130,000 people.

130k people and they all STFU.

The people covering it up. Who gives a shit about your supposed "contractors"? I thought it was a hologram? Nice try on the spin, though.  ::)

It's a whole different ball game trying to get thousands of people to cover up the mass murder of American citizens as opposed to a weapons project to win a war that spans the whole globe and is killing tens of thousands of Americans every week.

And for what it's worth, there are countless documented incidences of Russian agents trying to get info. from Americans working on the project. It wasn't secret enough for the Russians to have an idea of what we were doing.

130k people and they all STFU.

So you are seriously suggesting that 130k of those people knew exactly what they were helping to design and its implications? I really doubt the us government were so stupid as to inform everyone involved exactly what they were up to.

When they spit out numbers like 130k, easily 95% of those people are not the scientists working with the actual bomb. The majority of the people involved in the project more than likely worked with logistics, production, security, contributing research, construction etc. You get the idea.

point is, when it comes to major things, people CAN STFU.

The people covering it up. Who gives a shit about your supposed "contractors"?

Victims families, sarah palin, Obama, 911 commissioners, and the majority of americans who support a second investigation.

You don't seem to give a shit about a crime against americans being properly investigated, so you're not relevant here.

And my point is that easily 95% and above of all the people involved didn't know shit about what they were helping to create. And some obviously did not shut up enough as BF pointed out. Stalin knew about the bombs before they detonated in Japan.

Interesting, Debussey read otherwise a few years back, but you might def. be correct.

Do you have a link to where you found your data?

I read it in a scientific magazine so I'm unable to provide links as of now. Perhaps I'll have some by tomorrow.

You're being critical towards my claims, good for you.  :D

Critical, but still open minded :D

Debussey wants to read more about this because it = interesting :)

I do feel sorry, watching that video, for all the innocent japanese civilians....wasn't their fault. It's not like they were those "Death to America" chanting Islamic monkeys, strapping bombs to themselves , blowing up people and cutting people's heads off. I would pay to see a video of them getting a Nuke dropped on them..in slow motion even.

Bezerkfury shutting up "240 or kill myself if I can't spend 11hrs / day on getbig" more ridgidly than a veiny cock.

The 'bomb' wasn't a bad idea afterall...  sometimes you gotta scream pretty loud to make the fuckers shut up. We did.

End of the Story.

Why is the nuclear bomb seen as so bad? Wasn't it just a regular bomb on steroids?

Was it worse than Dresden.... or London ... or ?
