Interval training would suit most BB'ers better because of it's short time of effort. And in the process burning more fat , but holding the current and future muscle building potential, at a rapid rate. You do not want marathon style cardio when training for added muscle mass and strength. When you reach the upper levels of BB'ing, Pl'ing or Olympic lift than some running may be included. Depends on the lifter. But never to any high degree that it may harm the lifting workouts.
Might do a general search on interval training, there are many version on the web. T-nation had a few good articles on it some weeks ago. I favor the Tabata protocol, as first choice. Which is composed of 4 to 8 exercise cycles. That's 20 seconds of max effort followed by a 10 second pause. That is considered one cycle. After the 10 second pause you return to the 20 second max effort exercise, to start a second cycle, etc..
Can make almost any exercise fit the Tabata scheme. Punching a heavy bag, jump rope, cleans, squats, running sprints, Kettle Bells, Swing Bell, etc. These all can pretty well be adapted to any other form of interval training. A simple form, if no gym equipment is around, is running sprints. Caution, you do want to start slow. This is a very demanding form of training. Good Luck.
