What's a Marxist policy and which of Obama's policies are Marxist?

I'm glad you asked.

1.  Takeover of auto's
2.  Takeover of banks
3.  Attempted takeover of health care
4.  Attempted takeover of energy
5.  27 Czars and counting
6.  Exponential growth of the public sector while continuing to raise taxes.
7.  Class Warfare rhetoric at every opportunity
8.  Pay Czar

Those come to mind at first blush.

While you're blushing, would you please explain what a Marxist policy is and how it differentiates from a capitalist or socialist policy?

In other words, what is the basis for your list?

Marxism, for simplicity's sake is public( government) ownership of the economy .

In a capitilist society, failed businesses should go away and are dealt with in bankruptcy court, not propped by the taxpayer.

What is essentially going on now is the gradual takeover of all these businesses by the govt, while they should have been left to fail so that new businesses can develope and be created.

Actually, its probably more fascistic what is occuring since the profits are not even going to the taxpayers who bailed out these banks, companies, etc., but to the thieves in bed with the politicians.

This is why I was against TARP the bailouts etc.

The wall street thieves bought off the politicians so that the very very tiny few at the top could reap billions, while the rest of us are burderned with highter taxes, bad debt, debased currency, etc.

Look at cap & trade and the corruption that mess is.  85% of the tax revenue that is generated is not even going to the taxpayer paying the higher taxes, but to the credits the corrupt pols gave away.

Its a complete disaster when the govt gets in bed with the businesses like this.

Why do I get the feeling that Glenn Beck has never been a part of an inside joke?

That's well put.

I don't equate the government with the people in the sense that a government could be a dictatorship and not a representative government.

Marxism is ownership of everything by the people...all property is public, not private.

Socialism is ownership of the means of production by the worker.

Capitalism is ownership of the means of production by the capitalist.

The marketplace is rather light on compassion.

You can argue about the efficacy/ethics of Obama's Cap & trade policy but you can't argue with its aim.

It depends on what you mean by "complete disaster."  Cap & trade is nothing new conceptually.  But if it does control pollution, reduce carbon poisoning of our atmosphere and move us towards green energy, I don't see the problem.

The alternative you offer is "ignore the environment and maximize the bottom line at all costs."  That's not good enough.

I care about people more than I care about green fantasies.  Cap & Trade as presented by Obama is a massive giveaway to GAS at taxpayer expense.

He admitted himself that our electricity rates will skyrocket with this.  In a time of recession, is it really smart to do this?

Like Al Gores' business and Goldman Sachs' profits?

No, like the US leading the way on environmental responsibility so that other countries will follow suit either by example or some sort of economic incentive.

Or do you dismiss global warming outright and view this as a scam?

I am not willing to do a damn thing until China or India joins along.  At least they are smart enough to know that Spains' expirement with this insanity only results in more unemployment and debt.  Even Russia is laughing at our stupidity.

We are on a suicide mission with this garbage.

You're part right.  We are on a suicide mission if we do nothing more meaningful to address pollution.

A national report on China's environment, issued by the ministry on November last year, said among some 320 cities of prefecture level and above, air quality of 39.5 percent of the cities averaged at level III or lower.

China also classifies water quality in major rivers and lakes into six levels, ranging from level I, which is good enough to be used as the source of drinking water, to level VI which is too polluted to be used even for farm irrigation.

The quality of the water sampled in almost one fourth of the monitoring stations set up along major rivers such as the Yangtze River and the Yellow River averaged at level VI, according to the document.

Pollution in 28 major lakes, such as the Taihu Lake and the Dianchi Lake, remained serious, with the quality of almost 40 percent of the water was at level VI.

Waters in urban regions were also facing serious pollution, with 90 percent of river water and half of underground water polluted. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2009-02/24/content_7508856.htm

India is getting about 5% less sunlight than it did 20 years ago, according to a study by Padma Kumari and colleagues at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune. They studied data from the India Meteorological Department, measuring differences in solar radiation at 12 stations across India between 1981 and 2004.

India is losing out on sunshine because a cloud of tiny air-borne particles released by the nation's industries hovers above the subcontinent, blocking light from reaching the Earth.

HIgher incidents of birth defects, cancer, infertility, lower life expectancies etc are an acceptable cost to you?

What good is money if your dead from cancer and heart disease?  ...or you can't step outside at noon b/c the air quality is putrid.

We can wait for India and China or we can be a leader.

However fickle it might be, Deck, at least the marketplace provides options.  Marxism has no place for options.  It's the government's way or bust.

Creativity, freedom of expression, freedom of choice, options, hard work= All strangled to death under a Marxist/ socialist regime.

Has anyone here read animal farm? The only ones in control with their hands in all the cookie jars pulling the strings are the slobs we elect into office. Capitalism spreads the risk and the reward-- Of course oversight is necessary to a degree; But what we are watching unfold is not only counterproductive, its downright scary.
