tea Party's first test: Capping the debt ceiling
« on: November 03, 2010, 03:30:17 AM »
Repubs like Cantor REFUSED to say what they'll do to combat Rand Paul and other tea party winners claim that they'll immediately cap the US debt ceiling next year.

Repubs and dems alike let this thing rise every year - as stopping it would put us in default and could have some pretty major consequences.

but these tea party candidates ran on stopping it - and Rand Paul reaffirmed last night he'd do whatever it takes to cap it.

So what happens now?  Does the repub establishment talk the tea party members into "raising it just this one time..." lol?  Or do these new congressmen, within the next 6 months, initiate a worldwide shift in power as the US defaults on its debt?

My guess is that they cave - they become regular politicians... they say "we are working to change it, but just this once we'll roll with the establishment"...

No,the first test will be to make sure the Bush tax cuts are permanent. Then repeal health care. Those are the first two most important things on the agenda.

I could see it going the other way as perhaps only 5 or 6 needed democrats start "reaching across the aisle" as they saw loud and clear what America wants last night.

According to the talking heads at CNBC if Rand votes against raising the debt ceiling the entire global economy would implode, America would lose its AA rating and the people would starve in the streets. It would be a total Mad Maxx scenerio. lol oh boy..what planet are these guys living on?

it's the left's new rallying cry to divide the right.

but what will they do?  will they raise the ceiling, or won't they?  it's a multi-trillion dolalr decision, a pretty big thing.  it'd be cool to see Rand and friends call Boehnner's bluff - and tell them no more debt.

But I just know they'll crack.  They'll cave.  They'll "fall in line" and repub voters are gonna realize they voted for more of the same with a really cool new packaging.

240 seems to be working extra hard to rationalize and minimize the beating his heroes took last night.

Dems got killed.  I thought that was common knowledge.  Where did I deny it?  They got ripped up.  Not as bad as could have been - the outliers like ODonnell and Angle made it a 90% win.  But they did awesome.

Actually i am thrilled with the results last night.  With manchin in the Senate - cap & trade & card check are done!    The House of Reps was HUGE win.

and even better - many of the states went far to the right as well, meaning that when the districts get drawn up - it will be heavily in favor of the gop, especially in places like Ohio where obama needs support - HE GOT WRECKED IN OH AND PA & VA.
