Vince Taylor's grips?
« on: October 28, 2010, 11:25:25 AM »
Please note that I have absolutely no financial stake in the grips, but Vince has demonstrated the grips for me and he is a friend of mine. For one to truly understand and appreciate the grips, Vince is going to have to actually make a how-to video and perhaps hold some seminars about the grips and his joint rotation principle. Please feel free to join Vince Taylor's Facebook page....... Vince is a really cool and down to earth dude and he will be glad to personally answer your questions.

What are your thoughts on these things?

These weird grips actually came from the round black balls attached to the cables. When Vince Taylor's had a bad back that would not allow him to do heavy training he actually performed many exercises with that black ball attached to the cable that you are referring to. By doing several exercises with the black ball attached to the cable Vince found out that he could adequately fatigue his muscles while using very little weight. Yes, the grips evolved from using the black ball attached to the cable. A couple of major improvements from just using the ball attached to the cable include the following:
1) Vince's grips consist of a non-slip grip polymer that is softer and more comfortable to hold onto than the black ball.

2) The grips consist of 2 balls instead of just one. This allows for better control on all movements.

3) The grips have a bit of slack attached to them and the movement is not direct drive as the black ball is. This allows for better freedom of movements on all exercises.

4) Please realize that anyone who uses these grips will not be able to use much weight while doing exercises, but they can get good workouts and completely free motions/movements by using these grips.

5) Most people are not going to use these grips exclusively, but the grips can add some much needed flavor and variety to one's workouts. (heck...try doing some close grip benches followed immediately by triceps pushdowns with the grips)

6) Because the forearm and wrists can get immediate and awesome muscle activation from using Vince's grips, it is quite possible that arm wrestlers, wrestlers, tennis players, pitchers, bowlers, those rehabilitating injuries, etc. may find using the grips to be quite a beneficial addition to their training routines.

all the best,
JD
