Brain teaser. riddle me this
« on: November 20, 2010, 09:27:12 PM »
When God kicked Adam and Eve out of the garden, he placed at the entrance 2 angels, cherubs if i remember, and a sword spinning to keep them out. So there were only 2 people on the earth, Adam and Eve, there hadn't been any prior civilization whatsoever. Scholars and the bible itself says they were naked. Who therefore brought the image and idea of the most used weapon, of war ever invented, a sword, by man, thousands of years later by the way? Do you think God gave man the idea of war, or is war an inherent part of Gods syke? I personally believe the biblical accounts are stories and moral codes and such, but gone terribly arry.

Let's see here

Can God make himself not exist?

Can God create a stone so heavy that even he can't lift it? If he can, then he's not all powerful because he can't lift it. If he can't then he's not all powerful because he can't make it

Why did God create evil? Why did God create the devil?

Why did God put the tree of knowledge in the garden in the first place?

Why did Jesus come? To save the world? But people before Jesus could go to heaven too, right? Not everybody went to heaven before, and not everybody goes to heaven now. What changed after he came? Was it really just so we won't have to be Jewish to go to heaven? If so, why didn't non-jews get the chance before Jesus came to go to heaven.

If people that don't believe in the christian God go to hell, then what about babies? What about mentally handicapped? What about people that never were witnessed to? If I put a baby into a room and only bring him food and water until he is, say 15 or 20 (obviously over the age of reason) then I kill him, will he really go to hell because he was of sound mind and yet did not believe in God? If he did go to hell, can our minds even begin to comprehend that? Are all these exceptions, and if so, why?

Why am i even able to ask questions like this?

Is the question who created that specific sword if there were no swords prior?  I would say God.

These have been said to be questions akin to making a square circle.  I think there is a thread here I'll try to look for it later.

Really good questions!  And I can't really answer specifically other than to say what I believe could be the answers.  Seems like giving us free will means he made us truly "free" to make whatever choices we are going to make. ...including the wrong ones.

It's by grace through faith.

Have you ever read Hebrews Chapters 10 and 11?

The story of David and his infant son that died indicate that babies go to heaven.  I assume the same for the mentally handicapped that have never knowingly rejected Christ.

I'll have to address the others when I have more time!

It's by grace through faith.

Have you ever read Hebrews Chapters 10 and 11?

But the end result is still the same right? Wasn't it always faith that led people to heaven. Faith that a savior will come for those that were alive before Christ, and faith that one has come for those that are alive after Christ. My question is, what change did Christ make. If heaven is our end result in being saved (having everlasting life), and we could have the end result before Christ, then why Christ? He took the sins of the world. But sin still exists right? What if Christ never came to earth. What if, like the Jews claim, the savior hasn't came yet. Would less people go to heaven? If that's the case, then why did God wait that long to send Jesus when all those people died and went to hell that would have died and went to heaven if Jesus had came earlier. If Bob died 3 years before Jesus was born, and Bob's son dies after Jesus had died. Do both Bob and Bob's son still get equal chance to go to heaven? What is the difference between Bob going to Heaven and Bob's son going to heaven? Bob had to have faith that Jesus would come. Bob's son had to have had faith that Jesus did come. Why is the 2nd better than the first? If it's not better, then why does the 2nd even exist. If it is better, why didn't the 2nd come earlier when the lesser one was occurring.

Thank u butterbean for answering the riddle. Yes god made the sword, so GOD invented the concept of war, and an object that could sever a mans heads in one blow, or gut him like a pig.  8) Thanks "god".
