I'm going to try to start drinking coffee to help keep me awake and allow me to get more studying done. However I never drink coffee and there are an ungodly amount of options to choose from at the coffee shop. Keep in mind that I had gall bladder surgery not long ago so I'm trying to cut down on the fatty stuff (so I probably wont get anything that is loaded with fatty cream or anything).
(Translation: I want to start meeting girls at the coffee shop while I'm writing my next big screenplay on my laptop)-
What do you coffee drinkers recommend?
I hope that this thread remains on the main boards a couple of days before being moved to the nutritional board. My threads never get many replies so this is probably the only way anyone will see it.
I recommend coffee made exclusively with Arabica beans and made with water that is not boiling. Boiling water destroys several of the oils as well as terpenes that give coffee it's distinctive odor and palate. I also recommend Java coffee for filter and if you are going expresso, then the best coffee in the World is Brazilian from the cerrado of Minas Gerais state. Illy coffee is almost 70% coffee beans from this ara of Brazil. There is no other area in the World that produces beans for expresso that is so rich with flavor and so delicate and with low acidity.
I don't recommend drniking too much coffee. It has antioxidants and protects the dopamine-producing cells from the substantia nigra area of the brain from damage and thus lowers the risk of Parkinson's, but caffeine in large doses over large periods of time is potentially neurotoxic by causing depletion of norepinephrine as well as cholinergic excitotoxicity. Caffeine is a cholinergic, and in high doese it even inhibits cholinesterase like organophosphate insecticides, and too much acetylcholine can accelerate brain cell loss by inducing apoptosis. In rats, caffeine overdoses result in the destruction of brain cells that use acetylcholine, resulting in impaired memory, motor coordination and also the hearing.
