The Beastie Boys need to make a new cd!!!

they did..it will be out late spring early summer...

Dude- That eminem album was fucking trash. He should start snorting vicodins again because he turned into the biggest pussy and hypocrite in hip hop. To me Kayne's first album was awesome, his second album was pretty good, and now every time I hear him rap I have the urge to urinate on the person standing closest to me.  Of course nobody compares to the pioneers-- but you have a whole crop of guys who made a name for themselves in the early- mid 90's that in my opinion perfected rap music. Wu Tang, Mobb Deep, Nas, Jay Z, Common, CNN, Lox etc. Today those guys have already made their money and don't give a shit about putting out good music, they quit making music and are acting, or they are old bonafide hood rich sellouts that are basically doing guest appearences to make up for the fact that they squandered all of their money.

The three best rappers skill wise are dead-- Big L, Biggie, Big Pun==> The greatest hip hop artist of all time has been dead since '97- Pac-- and if the best this generation can churn out is Kayne West, then I'm sorry-- rap is dead as a doornail.

we have the same taste...wu,cnn,nas,smif n wessen, mobb is my shit...that being said...your just getting old and are nostalgic about the music you came up to...

as far as the emenem album i 100% disagree...that emenem album is an instant classic if anything the last 2-3 prior albums of his was trash....

Music industry has changed vastly from the time of those bands. It's extremely difficult to have any form of longevity in today's music environment. Today's audience is afflicted with a massive case of ADD.

Tons of great rock/metal music out there these days.

If anything, rock/metal is so popular at the moment it's becoming over saturated with bands and watered down by too many clones.

Im sorry but if you think the above music is on the level of a alice n chains,STP,soundgarden, I feel sorry for you...if the above is the best rock can do these days then its dead as a door nail...

STP , AIC and Soundgarden? Seriously? Dude, c'mon now. Those are not band names that should come up in any serious discussion about rock music. Perhaps Tool, if you're going to mention any 90's band. But even then, apart from the drummer and vocalist they're very sub-par musicians.

The musicians in the bands I mentioned are light years beyond that single finger chord, drop D stuff. The 90's were a horrible, horrible decade for music, period. Everyone forgot how to play their instruments and stocks in flannel hit an all time high. Real music was pushed underground by the money hungry recording industry. I'll assume you were brought up in the 90's, hence your fondness for that time period.

In terms of creativity alone, Pain of Salvation and Opeth are far beyond anything those bands could even hope to comprehend, much less emulate. Both bands are genre defying, blending styles from several different genres of music, be it jazz, rock, metal, blues, pop or folk.  Incredibly diverse stuff.  While both bands are capable of great virtuosity, the song writing always comes first and foremost. Modern rock is at a creative all time high.

IMHO...

rap was at it's zenith in the late 80s and early 90s.
