Hey all, I workout enough that I am starting to want to have decent workout clothes, nothing flashy, just no 20 year old raggy t shirts and crummy shoes.. I saw these and wondered if they would be cool in the gym only. I do squats but not heavy anymore but was thinking more along the lines of support. While these would be cool it seems doing squats leg press etc, do you think one could do calves in them?

May want to try on a pair and walk around a bit to see how they feel/fit.  Buying shoes on line can sometimes be disappointing. Can go to a better quality sports store and ask to try on that pair. Or you may even see others styles you like and also put them on, while in the store. Than check out which ever you want on line and probably at a much cheaper price. I know buying books and other stuff from Amazon is extremely fast service.

If having the big bucks, that can get custom fit training shoes. Either low or high cut. Better support from high tops, with straps. Can easily cost from $200 up. A friend of mine trained in his old airborne jump boots with great success. There designed for up most all around support and the taking of strong shocks.

With calves, you might want to do them barefooted, for a better all around stretch. Just my opinion but gripping with the toes, barefooted, seems to affect the calves in a better way. Try martial arts (Kung Fo, etc) slippers if you gym frowns on going barefooted. Good Luck.

Yeah, very good point, wrestling shoes seem like they'd be great for doing calves in too aside from barefoot. I just sort of like the idea of lifting shoes, something I'd only wear in the gym. Those were only $84 but again, you're right on fit and things, could end up blowing $20 in shipping back and forth till got it right, I've just never seen any lifting shoes in a store to try first.
