lol. If only you knew

OK seriously, how much can you bench raw and assisted with the various ply shirts ? I tried a single ply shirt around 10 years ago for fun. I was benching singles around 375 raw at that time having competed back in the 1980's with a competition best of 455 raw. I got an easy 425 first time I tried the shirt.
It literally pulled my arms back into a straight position. I needed a  100lb bar just to push my arms down so the bar could touch my chest.
Evetually afer a few weeks I got a single with my shirt of 475. Way beyond my competition best raw from 15 years earlier. I guessing I could have got 550 in my prime with a single ply shirt but I would not have enjoyed competing in assisted events.

Guy in my gym gets 4 plates for about 8 or 9.  Don't get me wrong....very strong indeed, BUT, he puts on his special shirt (at 4 and a half plates) and proceeds up to SIX plates.  The whole gym stops in awe of him.  I'd rather just see him get 5 plates, NO shirt.
I've never understood bench shirts and I never will.

Deadlift is the truest lift to test ones strength outside of strongman training.
